The most important thing to me while we are at disney is how CLEAN it always is. Every time I am at any other theme park from Sesame Place to six flags to Busch gardens I find myself saying “this sure isn’t disney”. The bathrooms are usually DEPLORABLE. Totally dirty and just disgusting. (Sesame Place being one of the WORST). For me the high standards of the custodial staff are what makes disney so special. Thanks for this great video and being one of the magic makers at my favorite resort! 😍

I'm so glad you posted this!! I saw this video before I applied for the program when I was just researching roles and now I'm watching it again a few months later because I just found out that my location is Art of Animation as custodial!! Thank you so much for posting this because now I have more of an understanding about what my role will entail :)
I worked DAAR custodial from January 2014 to August 2014 before heading over to World Showcase to finish the year. So cool to see this video. I mostly worked pools, Cars was my favorite. I have my phone interview for another DCP on Wednesday, I heard they changed some things at DAAR and so will probably be asking for World Showcase. Thanks for the video :) I have so many great memories.
custodial for the win!! I worked Magic Kingdom West custodial Summer 2015 on an ICP and I honestly loved custodial so much. I did the same thing as you - the recruiter basically said they needed custodial so i moved it to my top choice! I wouldn't have wanted any other role tbh. I always wondered how different custodial differed from parks to resort!! :)
+The Wandering Geek magic kingdom is the same with having a smaller section but it is definitely busier than AK. In a 8 hour shift you would probably have to do 3-4 trash runs depending on the zone and how busy the park is! resorts sounds like such a good time!
+The Wandering Geek yeah I was wondering how the other parks compared! One of my coworkers had worked at Magic Kingdom her last program so I talked to her a little bit. I figured it and Epcot would be busier than the other two. I was bummed that I wasn't able to pick up a shift at either of them!

Oh good! I was a little bummed at first too when I found out I was at a resort, but now I wouldn't have traded it for anything! I loved it. Yes, they let us pin trade!

+Sarah The only things are cleaning up Code V's (vomit), Code H's (poop), and AFR's (accidental fecal release, which are only on the pool decks so you won't have those in the parks). But honestly, they really aren't THAT bad. And they don't happen as often as you would think. I only cleaned up 2 code V's, 1 code H, and a few AFR's the entire time I was there. They give you an exact way to clean it up though so it doesn't make it quite as bad to clean up. I was worried about all that too before I started but it ended up not being a big deal at all.
omg thanks for this. I have my phone interview on the 12th which is Monday. You seriously make me want to do custodial more than food and beverage or merchandise. even though I chosen custodial as moderate do you think I can still have it has my top 3? you make custodial seem so fun

Cool vid! Could be you be a little more specific about why you really enjoyed custodial? Ive heard the same things from other CMs but Im still wondering why. I applied before and ended up being on the waiting list and then not getting in, so next time I might do the same thing you did for a better chance of getting in. Is the role so independent you don't feel connected to other CPs? I don't mind the work but one of the reasons I want to go is to have the chance to work a lot with other CPs.
+Emily Volk I loved it because you had freedom and there was a lot of interaction! Not only with guests, but with coworkers as well. I had the chance to work a lot with other CPs! Several of my coworkers became some of my best friends, I got to know them really well and I spent a lot of time with them:)
+xokferg894 Umm I don't actually! Because a lot of people I worked with were full timers or part timers and not college program. They still did stuff with us and we all got along great. And it's the same job and the same people whether you are college program or not.

I have a big question im applying right now for my freshman year for the dcp under educational history for gpa what should I put because I start my classes tomorrow?
I'm really confused about what happens to your college education while someone is living and working at Disney. What if their college doesn't offer online programs? How are you supposed to finish all your college courses while you won't even be going to your college? Will your college decide what to do? Or does Disney decide?
It depends on your college. Some will offer you credit based on the actual work you do, some will give you credit as long as you take the classes Disney offers, and sometimes you just won't receive credit. Personally, I didn't receive credit. I really wanted to do the program so I just took the semester off and worked in Disney. I've been going to school full time so it didn't really set me behind. They have lots of different options for your education but it all depends on the school so you have to discuss it with your advisors beforehand.
You can carry around water with you, they will give you a little clear reusable bottle and a holder for it. Or you can keep it in the nearest closet to you! As for bathroom breaks, yes you can go but obviously you have to do it at an appropriate time and quickly! It was never an issue for anyone I knew.
this video actually made me want to do custodial. some questions did you have to have a valid drivers license for your role? and how did you get to and from the apartments you stayed at to the parks? Did Disney provide the transportation or did you have to find your own way to work?
For our location we did have to have a drivers license because we would drive the carts around the resort. But that may not be the case for other locations! I brought my car with me, so that's how I got to and from work, but Disney does provide transportation from the "Disney housing" to anywhere on property. Lots of my friends only used the buses!

Absolutely! I believe they take your to 3 into consideration over the things you put online. So let them know!

I had several friends who were lifeguards! I actually had that in one of my top choices.
It seems to me that most DCP members have custodial jobs. Is that the only one they have or are there other roles that they can give you.
Oh no! There's A TON of roles to choose from! When you do your phone interview they will ask you what your top three choices are.

The guest initiates it! They will explain how to do it. You're not required to either!
