  • We take you along with us as we head back to visit with our friends Dan & Jess to see what's in season this time around! This gorgeous market garden is on it's 2nd season & is already rocking with so many of our favorite annual vegetables & fruits! A great big hats off to this amazing couple - they way they care for this space is certainly evident to us! (Plus, they are thoroughly enjoying the abundance.) Meet the latest addition to their family, too!

I love seeing these young families flourishing, successes and failures are all part of the game, but it's the appreciation of the successes that pushes us onward...beautiful...those cows...!

This is the nicest esthetic garden I've seen you show . I think I mentioned to you the first time that that circular design is so beautiful . I've started mine by planting a mulberry tree in the center other fruit trees at the edges and I'm working my way around. It's gonna take time, but these guys inspired me. Thanks for the update.

No doubt the area climate, terrain and open market has a major influence on the allure of permaculture to Costa Rica....but I am still blown away by all the momentum going on there now. And we have you to thank, Pete, for bringing most of it our way ! Great stuff...

Wow chayote or sayote as it's called here in the Philippines. I grew up in Benguet and it's the most abundant veggie being grown by farmers. Great in stir fry with garlic and salt.

@@GrowingintheGardenofGrace It's some type of plastic screening placed around mounded beds and staked up. A previous tour video had a comment from Pete that said it was some material that was left on the property by the previous occupants.

That's super cool that you live in Florida and travel to Costa Rica. They aren't too far from eachother but seem like two totally different worlds (subtropics vs tropics). But the price for plane tickets must be decent, and the travel time isn't too bad either

I'm curious, how much rainfall do you get that you need to add a roof over your garden? That seems like a big infrastructure project which would have unintended affects on the surrounding niches. I'm in an urban permaculture design class right now, just learning about strategies and designing for these systems and sector influences. Thanks.

In Costa Rica they have too much water, most all animal gardens have a roof. Most annuals also need full sun.

Go Finca La Familia! As a fruitarian myself breastfeeding a baby, I wonder, in all earnestness, why don't you try to switch to a fruit-based diet. Man, you'd feel so amazing I tell ya, for children is the best thing ever, and wow, how easy and effortless it would be for you to grow your fruits much more than your vegetables there in Costa Rica. My baby is 15 months, I haven been eating raw vegan since about he was 2 months old, mostly fruit, and he has been breastfeeding and eating fruits only. He is super healthy, super strong and happy, I feel blessed by this change of diet, it has given me so much more energy and vitality, peace of mind, and emotional balance. It makes sense, it feels good and it is delicious!
