I love spi. I live about 40 minutes from there. A lot of people here don’t like the beach. My wife included. I ask them do you know how many people have visiting the beach on their bucket list? And you take it for granted. I’m a tropical guy always have been. I was born in tampa raised in San benito tx. I go to the island whenever I get the chance and I take my two little girls with me. I love it
You might have to google it, but I believe it’s in south padre. Been a long time since I’ve been there. Usually turn off before there and go fishing in port Mansfield. Awesome fishing
We were just there after Christmas, you made us really want to go. Can’t wait to go back, we retire in 6 months and this is where we see ourselves at least part of the winter.

We were in the area at North Padre Island during Christmas starting Tuesday before Christmas until the Sunday after. We stayed at the Padre Bali Park, a private park, that is kind of pricey at $50/night or $325/week. Park has FHU, with twice as many back ins, as pull thrus, and there are several tent sites w/elec and picnic table. But it is just a few miles from our grandkids (and their parents), but the 5 GKs are the most important. Lol

Love it there, spend time every year down there but never in the winter. If you ever come back northeast toward Houston there is a great FREE county park here in Tomball Texas. The park is called spring creek park and I’ve heard making your free week reservation on line is the best way. Great level cement pads, full hookups with nice showers very very close.
Wife and I are enjoying the videos, we are full-time. One recommendation I have is to work on your sound editing, at times we can barely hear you talking and then the music is super loud...having to continually adjust the volume. Other than that, great videos. Take care!

Nice video. Too bad the rocket blew up on landing. Every time I see the space X rocket it reminds me of Flash Gorden when I was a kid which was some time ago. I’m 72 now. I really want them to succeed.
No wait it's not that hot. In summer back in the 80s. Lord I'm dating myself aren't I. But it a lot of days above 100 and I know for a couple of weeks it was over 105 because as us dates people know we camped in a tent for two weeks. I love hot weather. But we have winter spring summer and Indian summer then winter. Had that this year. But we haven't had a hot summer since the 80s.

Thanks Flora. Unfortunately SpaceX doesn’t publish test or launch schedules. Cameron County will publish road closure to the site, but that is usually only a couple of days before testing or launches. Check out TH-cam channel LabPadre. They usually have 24/7 coverage.

Sorry to hear that you won’t make it to SPI. It has some of the lowest rates for COVID in the nation. Just a dozen or so confirmed cases when we were there. Everyone is required to wear masks when entering businesses and to social distance when necessary.

Here in central Florida we had several launches in a week. Jetty Park Cape Canaveral you can watch launches and swim in the ocean
We stayed at Manatee Hammock State Park last year. That would have been a great spot to witness a launch.
Did not expect a full Space X launch, belly flop, and return. Then a fiery fail at the end? Nice!

The KOA is very nice, but pricey. We stayed at Isla Blanca County park on SPI. Weekly rate is about $150.

Nothing on the beach except a DIY fish cleaning station. Most of the local restaurants will clean and prepare to your liking for a small fee.
