- Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's second episode 'Rastey Ka Kanta'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character. - บันเทิง

I'm a 20 year old from Kashmir and I like Bengali culture( potrayed in this series) and how Bengalis are gifted with acting, directing and writing skills. Of course, this serial was always close to my heart as a kid. Now, I'm going through all the episodes once again.

Bengali producers/directors like Basu-dada and Satyajeet Ray (not linked to Byomkesh Bakshi) are the finest professionals on small screen or big screen. Just look at Thank you Bengal!!

आज पता चला कि मनुष्य के अवचेतन में कितनी स्मृतियाँ रहती है, ये serial मैंने बचपन में देखा होगा अब मेरी उम्र 50 वर्ष है पर जैसे ही ये episode देखना शुरू किया कि दिमाग में बात आई कि हो ना हो इसमे साइकिल की घंटी से gramophone की पिन shoot की जाएगी और अंत में वही हुआ.

If u r bengali then u would not directly say it as the "best story" of indian sherlock holmes...bcz other than byomkesh, there are hundred times much better characters like feluda, professor shanku, kakababu, misir ali, and tenida etc. And so sad that non-bengalis cant know them without watching the movies/ serial episodes which may sometimes destroy the authenticity of the books story

All stories are linear, simple and from one person's perspective - Byomkesh Bakshi. No character development, no subplots, no cross questions, bare minimum laughable logic and simplistic approach. Still, I used to love them as a kid. They hold some very nostalgic memories for me. Thanks DD for uploading them.
