Cool, I was camping near the Pemi that weekend too. Some foxes got loud at 3am and I stuck my head out from under my tarp and yelled, "Shut the f up foxes". So if you heard that, it was me.

@@KyleHatesHiking I've been seeking out the local (I m near Eugene Oregon) hippie dehydrated food shops and the asian markets. Their is some wicked creative meals from dehydrated (veggie+spices+min rice or potato) I've been seeing on TH-cam. Mix in some cheap Walmart 'great value' shelf stable chicken...

Was that the Dry River area? I hiked that area a lot back in the day 70s 80s and 90s then in 2011 like you mentioned Irene hit and they was that. I have been thinking of hiking out there again and just taking my time to check it out. Thanks for sharing.
Great video, but I don't see what is so tough about it. If you want a clear path it's caled a walk.

Here's a trail idea for you, if you can find information on it, Idaho Wilderness Trail. 287 miles. Partially on the River of No Return.

Sorry to see you get caught with the RBS#2 being gone; I was sad to see it go.
Hurricane Irene destroyed a bunch of trails in 2011, then Halloween 2017 did it again, shortly after the concrete bridge you did early on had been completed XD The bit of Rocky Branch Trail between Isolation East and RBS#1 is especially destroyed. Agreed, not the Wilderness to start with. But, how tough it is means that in most areas, it's mostly free of hikers, especially compared to nearby trails.

Agreed. RB#2 has been removed in some very new maps and replaced with the new campsite across the river. But, few folks update their maps often.
Ahh shit I didn't know there was a campsite on the other side of the river! We still found a site, but would have been less of a headache

I enjoyed that trail, and it was not that tough, of course, this was 10 years ago when I was a 57 year old youngster. I used a hammock because I'm a softy. Coming up out of the ravine towards Lakes of the Clouds, we ran into 40+ mph winds, rain and clouds, and 40 degree weather. It was nice. The Rocky Branch Shelter #1 is HUGE! The #1 danger on the Rocy Branch Trail is flash flooding, as witnessed by the damage to the river basin during the big flood the year before I hiked it. Good video!👍
Okay, I'm Sick and tired of hearing all the negative Dan Becker comments. I heard the other day that he is a true thru-hiker. He actually went to his mailbox it back. There you go.
Awesome trail. One of the places we regularly camped, we'd hike up the trail to a particular river then follow the river bank up. One year there was a massive storm that caused a flash flood down that river that completely altered it. Fortunately, there was still a place to camp - albeit quite a bit rockier than it used to be.
The Presidential Ridge was beautiful. Really cool area your in. Was the coffee any good? Be honest. Lol. But seriously I’d try it out. I always need coffee in the morning. I love tortilla and Mac and cheese. I eat it at the house too but I add chicken at the house. Lol. Cool video Kyle 👍✌️

I did the "Dry" late last summer and it was similarly tough to navigate and I was drenched by the time I reached the Mizpah Hut early afternoon where thankfully I could dry off and warm up. Hearing a black bear groan just a hundred feet off the trail about 4 miles in kicked my butt into gear. Not my favorite backpacking experience, but now I have a story to tell and I can check that one off the list.
