I've own many phones since I got my first smart phone back in 2008 with the iPhone 1. But I can safely say the only 2 phones I truly enjoyed for its time were the iPhone 4 in 2010 and Huawei mate 20 pro when I got it in 2018, which I'm still using. It's the phone I've used the longest and for a reason. I am so sold on this phone that I told myself I'm never changing to any other brands from now on. I'm still pissed with the US for the ban. Forget security issue, it's so obvious because they can't keep up with the competition and they simply used this as a convenient excuse. And I know this as Huawei were just about to move way ahead of its competition at that time just from my experience with this phone. Now I'm stuck on what to get for my new phone. Everything else seems like a downgrade. But I do need Google services. I'm so pissed and in a dilemma.
This is exactly what I feel. Ever since I gave up my huawei p30 pro and changed to other brands... It feels like my satisfaction is not there. Huawei is still the best thooo. I dont know what to do
I got the h40 pro plus. It's so good still performing just like the day I got it after 2 yrs of heavy use. Learn to live without Google play store. Unfortunately, I had to buy a new phone for banking app. Decided to try apple. Not too impressed. Can't wait for when Huawei is not banned in the u s
One of the best reviewers on TH-cam. Thanks. Despite being a very nice phone with great camera, the P50 Pro seems like placeholder before their next Kirin-powered flagship.
A really nice phone from Huawei. I am impressed that they were able to keep temperatures in check with the hot 888 soc. I feel the same way Chris the lack of GMS, won't hinder in the use of this great phone👍👍👍.
Really really helpful review. I was hesitant to pick one of these up at the initial price point but Huawei just slashed the price to £699 which makes this a pretty awesome value proposition.
I really like the design and the cameras look super solid. I'm glad to see 4K on the front facing camera but no headphone jack and microSD card for over £/€/$ 1000? I'm finding that hard to digest.
@@Techtablets I have observed that also. For many months I didn't received any notification from your channel. I had to search it on purpose to get see your videos
crazy that Huawei sell this at this price. Not only it is a late SD 888, it doesn't have Google Play, it also shows ads on some apps like a cheaper Xiaomi or Poco. I know some people who buys Samsung flagships at this price where they could easily buy an iPhone. I'm not an Apple fan but at this price range, the iPhone is a superior product
Huawei invest alot in R&D to improve the technology that consumers can enjoy, not like other companies such as Samsung and Apple which buys the cheapest patents and claim that they are innovative. Not only that, Huawei's QC is exceptionally stringent such that their phones are among the most durable. All the above needs money
Is there an advantage to the Kirin vs the 888? What about EMUI 12 vs HarmonyOS? Also, I have heard other reviewers say the global version is stuck on Widevine L3... You said Level 1.
Wondering when android phones will stop with the laggy video performance. Tbh in my case I don’t need 5G at all, but this price without 5G is ridiculous. Great video Chris! 😊

Thank you for the video , I have a feeling these will depreciate very quickly and they will sell for 600-700 on a used market in a few months , 1200€ is just way too much which is a shame , oh and xiaomi , look ! 4k video recording on a selfie camera and an ability to swap between all lenses on the back , get your act together xiaomi , please 🙏
Flagship Huaweis especially in CN don't depreciate that fast unlike Samsung, it'll be a long wait not unless guys aren't out looking for them anymore that would cause them to drop.
If Huawei were smart to save their smartphone division they would sell these phones at almost a loss but still ship units 1200€ for a phone with no 5G, limited by it's inability to access google apps and so on is not worth that. There are much better phones for a third the price.
They don't have enough chips, even 4G. And even at a loss no one outside China is going to buy them. These "global" phones are for keeping up appearances only (e.g. by sending them to TH-camrs for marketing exposure) because they can probably sell these same phones for 1200€ in China. Why sell at a loss in Europe etc. chasing volume, further dwindling their supplies and cheapen the brand, when no one there is going to buy them even at a loss anyway? It's clear that by keeping their bootloaders locked, Huawei doesn't want the "DIY Google" crowd, and would rather not sell any phones. Huawei's smartphone brand don't need saving (or alternatively it can't be saved), they're doing fine in China and the Goggle ban is permanent. Their strategy is to keep selling in China, not completely disappear outside China, and survive until they can get their hands on some advanced node manufacturing for their SoCs, and possibly a true open-source OS with RISC V.
Actually luckier in China where you can still get the Kirin9000 edition... might not necessarily be better, but I guess is more of the meaning to it when you buy these new Huawei phones under restrictions...
I honestly think this phone would be usable even without Google Services pre-installed, but the 1,200 EUR is too much to ask. Excellent cameras (as usual).
Good to see Huawei still hanging in there, good device at a killer price considering what else is available and imminent new generation releases from Samsung. Great review as usual

Thank you for extended review! It seems huawei downclocked 888, no point in getting 800k points in antutu if you can't keep that speed for longer while keeping device cool. Superb camera performance for android device, however i don't think 1.3k euros is correct price for this phone. Considering there is no google services though i could live without them. Sad that new snapdragon cpus are even worse than previous chip. Qualcomm should focus on experience not number in antutu or else. Really wanted xiaomi 12 pro but its uncooked device. Hopefully Poco F4 pro or X4 pro will be superior phones in price/to performance departament. If not, i think iphone 14 will be unstopable this year if they bring usb C , faster charging and no notch screen.
Yes, I think they did as in other ones it would reach 800k but I prefer it like this at least it will not overheat gaming, and an hour of PUBG on the top settings it only reached 36-37 degrees C which is a huge difference from 50-52 degrees of some of the other SD888 flagships I've seen. The Xiaomi 12 Pro on the latest firmware now takes much longer to overheat as they throttle it more but it's still not good.
huawei one of the best smart androd phones had been using one thing when switch off how much time it take for the p50 pro to charge from 14-69% and the circle icon what colour it is when it reach around 65% would like to know is it green circle or orange

Hmm considering the price, it's way off my price range. I still have a P30 Pro and therefore I'm still glad Huawei is keeping up with the camera department, although I was expecting some more. But clearly I understand they are living on the edge, after the ban. The audio quality in the recordings ain't good, considering the bitrate so low (Xiaomi like). I wonder why selling a phone at 1,000€+ and give the users such a bad audio quality! (hopefully a patch is on the way). GSPACE helps with Google apps, but Gpay and Android Auto won't work. Better than nothing. Would I go for this phone? At 600€, my price range, yes. At 1,000€+ no way.

It makes me weird to see a Huawei with a Snapdragon 😞. It's like seeing an iPhone with a Mediatek processor from 3 - 4 years ago. When I think of what the Kirin 9000, which is already 2 years old, is capable of doing, I kind of imagine what it would have been like if Huawei had been able to continue its Kirin. On the other hand, I'm a little disappointed that Huawei has abandoned its 3D face unlock, and as I said 2 years ago with the P40 Pro / Mate 40 Pro, they should have centered the pill like Apple is apparently going to do on its future iPhones 14. Instead of seeing a pill bigger than the holes in the screen of Android smartphones, people would have seen a miniaturized and revolutionary Face-iD. But at least Huawei seems to have solved its photo-video colorimetry problems, but especially its video stabilization problem, that's the main reason why I stopped to use Huawei. The real big problem with this smartphone is its price, it costs more than an iPhone 13 Pro and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Huawei must accept that its status is no longer the same and review its pricing positioning otherwise it will be really complicated for them, the proof they have gone from number 1 in China (their home market where normally the absence of GMS should not be a problem) to not even in the top 5.
The video looks juttery when zooming. Noise reduction also makes it sound unnatural. Video/photos looks okay but I feel like vivo x70 pro plus is better.
Whoever in Huawei decided this price must be mad with no common sense. You can buy iPhone Pro Max, Samsung S21 Ultra etc with that money, although you can use WhatsApp, Netflix etc, without Google services many apps that are important like banking , travel apps, NHS App etc are missing. I am not against Huawei , I own P40 Pro (bought used, would not pay for the original price ) and know the limitations even with side loading.
bank apps working perfectly fine on my p40 pro , ING and revolut , also i can do nfc payments via curve app with any card so absolutely no problem for me . Other google apps are easily replaceable
Huawei cameras are always top-notch, but no 5G is a bummer, of is it? I would like to know how it matches up against the Vivo X70 pro+, OPPO Find X 3 pro on the camera front? Looking for the best cameras more than anything else. Anyone who has tested these models might give me a hint. Thanks
I think close but so far the main camera on the X70 Pro+ and the gimbal ultrawide are very good. Only the Pixel 6 Pro beats it. Still all of these flagships are so close!

Sad to see how Huawei went from one the most potential companies to disrupt Samsung's and apples pricing to being very quiet these past couple years
It makes me weird to see a Huawei with a Snapdragon 😞.
Hopefully they switch over to the new Dimensity 9000 from Mediatek for the next devices! Agreed they should have kept that 3d face unlocking.
@@Techtablets Yes, the Mediatek 9000 has an architecture that strangely resembles that of the Kirin 🤭.

Why without Google apps? It is very easy to install the Google apps on Huawei phones. You should have mentioned it.
You mean Gspace right? Will it's not a proper install as such, but yeah it works well.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
When doing benchmarks, activate the performance mode from the settings! Thats why the score was lower.
No Google Services, no buy. Simple as that, mite. 😎
This message was typed on a Huawei Mate 20X. 😉
The video looks juttery when zooming. Noise reduction also makes it sound unnatural. Video/photos looks okay but I feel like vivo x70 pro plus is better.
Selfie is 13 megapixel not 32 mate.
Ouch. Expensive.
the moment huawei gets google, ill be back fo sure
Whoever in Huawei decided this price must be mad with no common sense. You can buy iPhone Pro Max, Samsung S21 Ultra etc with that money,
although you can use WhatsApp, Netflix etc, without Google services many apps that are important like banking , travel apps, NHS App etc are missing.
I am not against Huawei , I own P40 Pro (bought used, would not pay for the original price ) and know the limitations even with side loading.
Then I think Huawei should charge more royalties to Samsung and Apple for using its patents. The patents require lots of R&D expenditure.
👍💛
Pls do comparison with iPhone 13 pro and Google pixel 6 pro
Camera comparison?
A huge dealbreaker for me is, lack of Banking app support. otherwise, Huawei P50P is a no brainer
Yes that's the big one the banking apps.
Gspace fixes that issue
bank apps working perfectly fine on my p40 pro , ING and revolut , also i can do nfc payments via curve app with any card so absolutely no problem for me . Other google apps are easily replaceable
How can i get global rom?
From Brazil
Do you have the Spanish language in this version?
Yes it was there.
Why is the audio muffled in video recording
That's the way it is and also low bitrate as listed in my cons.
@@Techtablets other reviewers have said that the Huawei is superior to the Pixel 6 pro.
Waiting for Redmi Note 11 Global variant review
It's not available until Feb 16
1300 euros for a phone unable to open Google maps… sorry but I rather prefer a 100 euro phone with Google services
It can run Google maps just fine but you can't login to your Google account
Pena q não tem os serviços da Google
Beautiful phone pity I cannot do my banking on it 🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭
Sankyou,p 50 pro vs pixel 6 pro
No kirin?
No SD888 4G
Price is a deal breaker for me. It's just too much even now.
It's a nice camera phone, but sadly no one cares about Huawei anymore because the lack of Google service is a deal breaker for most
1200 euros 🤔🤯🤯🤯
It sells for around 800 here, 1200€😱
I wish Huawei would turn down the over sharpening on their photo processing a little… Samsung seems to be doing the same lately … it’s just too much.
