Huawei continues to make great devices. Huawei has taken a very good position in the tablet, watch and computer business and I guess they will return to its old days in the phone business in the next period. Huawei mate 50 pro is definitely a device that will be of interest to anyone who loves technology. I hope I will have the chance to experience it soon. Thanks for the review Chris. Hope to see comparison of mate 50 pro with next flagship devices.
From initial impressions it's a solid device and the cons don't seem so dealbreaking. The design is nice and the performance in gaming on that Amoled screen is smooth.

Nice phone and a proper review ! Like everyone else, I would love to see Huawei get back in the mainstream. I am still really enjoying my mate 20 x and as a matter of fact just received a b top game controller for it that I ordered from Shanghai. 👍
In terms of performance and camera it's definitely improved from the Mate 40 but I think the design took a step backwards with the notch and the obvious camera lenses on the back.
Still rocking the P30 Pro... it's still a photography beast. I used to change phones close to every bathroom break xD , but I've stuck to this one for so long, it's insane. I'm just not really that enamored by the competition, but I'm also reluctant to give up the out-of-the-box Android/Play Store experience or missing out on 5G network capability. Such a shame they had to target Huawei. As if Apple, Samsung, Facebook/Meta etc aren't doing shady things. It's kinda what you'd expect. Seems like a great phone, the Mate 50 Pro. But the P30 Pro will probably be the last Huawei to own, unless they drop the sanctions and are back in the game again. For a while I had my hopes up for OnePlus... as they announced they'd be collaborating with Hasselblad. However, that seemed to pretty much contain itself to using the branding on the phone. Bit of a disappointment. Sony... cool features, but the pricing is high and the results still can't really compete with all the AI processing in the other flagships. Xiaomi had that Mi 11 Ultra which I found very interesting and since then have started a collaboration with Leica after they jumped ship from the S.S. Huawei. So, I'm keen to see what's next for them as the 13 Series should be soon announced. Vivo is the last in the list, but probably the most likely to provide me with a worthy successor to the P30 Pro. I liked their X70 Pro+, but wasn't swayed enough. Their X80 Series missed out on a Pro+ version. In the next month or two we'll probably get introduced to the X90 Pro+ and I believe that will finally be what I was looking for. My P30 Pro screen has cracks, it can't charge through USB anymore, only wirelessly, so it's really starting to be on its last breath...
The P30 Pro is legendary, without a doubt their standout phone for me to. It was so ahead of it's time, the battery life, screen, cameras and zoom camera.
mine was smashed last august weeks later i bought a second hand unit for 370€ i cant find at that price point can compete with it even 2022 midrange phones..
A solid flagship offering from Huawei indeed! 👍For me the lack of 5g is not a deal breaker at all. I have no true 5g network and will not be any time soon. I love how Huawei keeps pushing forward in terms of innovation. That variable mechanical aperture on the main camera is next level! All that being said, although the notch allows for 3d face unlocking, which is great. But I personally cannot handle day to day usage, with that distraction on the screen! Thank you Sir Chris for another well rounded review 👌👌
Using the Mate 50 Pro since over a month now and i am getting along with it pretty well, great camera, great performance, long battery lifetime and many more.

Always hoped Huawei would bring out a successor - maybe the "ban" didn't help as far as developing new mobile phone models (look at how many variants and models Xiaomi releases in comparison!).
The Mate 20X, that was an awesome phone I used own one, I went from a Mi Max 2 or Max 3 to that. Posted a review on it back then. I have always been waiting for a new larger X series phone. Seems it wont be happening.
Mate 40 Pro is a legend, the Mate 50 Pro continue that trend, but it's harder and harder to recommend Huawei these days. Yeah. The ryyb filter is truly amazing, the P30 pro was ahead of its time. But since the sensor is extra sensitive to yellow light, some photos would look messed up. Night mode usually fixed it.
Amazing review! The best I've seen so far for the mate 50 pro! Very happy to see Huawei bounce back with this amazing phone, also glad you showed us that certain apps relying on Google are still usable via third parties. Would you recommend the adblocker you've installed on the phone to stop the ads from for example gspace?
Drop vs Notch makes no difference, and notch usually means less sacrifices. Turning on black background in notch area makes this look 10 times better on oled screens. As for the phone this seems like a refined version of mate 30 pro which is a great thing in my opinion
But the mate 30 pro is a 3 year old phone. All comparisons should be made with the 40 Pro, and interestingly the 40 pro has a pill cutout instead of a notch.
As always great professional review Huawei has done a great job. I wonder if iPhone was under the same pressure and pixel was under the same pressure and oneplus the same pressure would they survive like Huawei?

I'm not bothered about no 5G, but I am about its pricing compared to other 5G phones. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall the reason for the bump in phone prices was attributed to the inclusion of a 5G modem in the newer chips. This does not have that modem, seemingly, so does everything else in this phone justify the price?

Amazing review! The best I've seen so far for the mate 50 pro! Very happy to see Huawei bounce back with this amazing phone, also glad you showed us that certain apps relying on Google are still usable via third parties.
Would you recommend the adblocker you've installed on the phone to stop the ads from for example gspace?
That’s for watching. That adblocker is just for internet and it’s chrome based so that’s why I use it as I can’t run Chrome itself.
Hello Chirs I am following your videos now quite a while.
What is your Suggestion towards buying the mi 11 ultra in 2022?
That's a good move the cameras have improved a lot from updates. Still a very good phone!
Drop vs Notch makes no difference, and notch usually means less sacrifices. Turning on black background in notch area makes this look 10 times better on oled screens. As for the phone this seems like a refined version of mate 30 pro which is a great thing in my opinion
That's true we have the background on the notch to hide it but then we have a big large top bezel look.
But the mate 30 pro is a 3 year old phone. All comparisons should be made with the 40 Pro, and interestingly the 40 pro has a pill cutout instead of a notch.
The King is back huawei
What’s that little bar at the bottom of the apps
Part of the launcher
As always great professional review Huawei has done a great job. I wonder if iPhone was under the same pressure and pixel was under the same pressure and oneplus the same pressure would they survive like Huawei?
They probably wouldn’t
The second Huawei gets google services back I'll move back. P30 pro is the best phone I've ever had!
Sure ones, one of my all time favorite phones the P30 Pro.
It must be very excitied when their self made Kirin SOC with 5G come back soon...
Would there be a review for the nova 10 pro ?
I've been using a nova 7 5G for the past 2 years and super happy with it, but I think its time to upgrade to a higher refresh rate and newer hardware
Nova 10 Pro. Covered it a long time ago now: th-cam.com/video/4ma0iGMHLl4/w-d-xo.html No doubt TH-cam buried my video
I have XIAOMI NOTE 10 atm, which one for 350€ max? Thanks.
Best phone ever made . Really loved it 💕
Do a comparison with Xiaomi 12S Ultra for the Camera comparison
"PLEASE" manners bro...
@@tuphelo actually, i was drunk last night so even my grammar isn't apt in the sentencing.
Don't call me bro, i didn't reveal my gender to you, so don't just assume everything by yourself, you SOB !
@@abc_cba oh yeah? Sorry about that bro.. Never will I ever man 😀
What is Huawei's update policy? Especially regarding security updates?
I have a mate 40 pro and get monthly security updates
I have nova 8 and a matepadpro and it have monthly security update. Even P20 from jurassic era was able to received EMUI12 update.
I have a Matepad 11 and a Mediapad M6 and the software policy is a deasaster. And there is no official policy for european countries.
@@danielmachado2229 try to change your region on your huawei app to Hongkong/China, sometimes I get update there earlier before they released it on my country, Philippines.
I want to upgrade from my P30 Pro.. But the device is'nt launching here in Switzerland😭
Still working with my Huawei mate 10 (2018), still fast work great, unfortunately for the fallout with the US supplier. A brand looking forward to my next upgrade.
I'm using p30 still fine
When did you get that RTX 4090? 😉 Don't think I've seen that in your previous videos. I hope that notch doesn't appear on the next P series phones.
Got a good price for my RTX 3080 Ti, and the RTX 4090 so upgraded as I game at 4k120 I can do it properly now. Yes hopefully no notch on the next P series.
Have you tried Android auto?
It tends to be blocked on Chinese devices, even with full Google framework.
Nothing happens when I plug it into my car. Same as the Mate XS 2 no Android auto. So that's another con.
@@Techtablets that's a shame, thank you for checking.
I ended up getting a Z Fold 4 despite really liking the Vivo and Xiaomi alternatives, because Android Auto works out of the box on Samsung.
Great device, love the camera. And it even isnt a minus without google services if you have gspace
yeah if you like battery drain and crashing applications on top of the permissions granted to a random 3rd party app. good luck, have fun. i'll just wait until the global version is properly rooted..
Is ok oppo find x2 pro in 2022 ?
Will it work with wear os
I’m rocking an Huawei mate xs and a pixel 7 pro the only problem with Huawei is that I cannot connect wear os smartwatch because of the app even with the Chinese one trick
I get no utility from 5G in the United States. Sometimes I prefer 4G phones just because they seem to have better battery efficiency
That notch is egregious. They could've at least made it shorter.
I am impressed with a wide camera that has f/1.4.
How about banking apps?
Could you do a review for xiaomi 12s pro?
No plans to buy it sorry.
@@Techtablets ahh, ok tnx
it just knocked the pixel 7 pro off the to spot as best phone camera on the planet right now. They make very good devices 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mate 50 pro brightness outdoor? Visible?
Yes it's also shown outdoors when I talk about the screen.
I'm still using my Mate 20 Pro side by side with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I would still go with Huawei today if the US didn't sanction Huawei and prevent them from using Google services.
I'm not bothered about no 5G, but I am about its pricing compared to other 5G phones. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall the reason for the bump in phone prices was attributed to the inclusion of a 5G modem in the newer chips. This does not have that modem, seemingly, so does everything else in this phone justify the price?
black is nice too
Any news about lighthouse app?
Seems like MicroG modded version right? Another work around sandbox GApps. It's great to have this option.
did you test out the 1440hz pwm dimming?
It’s always on and I couldn’t see any flickering
You can get Google apps working with multiple Google accounts working using lighthouse app in Malaysia
Lighthouse is back? I could not find it. Gspace works for me.
Huawe Mate 50 have New Update (Anti Shaking for video)
And Face Mask Unlock.
You must UPdate right now
I updated it, on the latest firmware. I always update everything for my reviews, phones, PC and laptop drivers and bios etc
It can be the most amazing phone ever, no Gapps, no thank you.
I know there are workarounds but that’s all they are, workarounds, no matter how hard you try, they will always remain just workarounds.
They actually make good phones
just curious , been watching your review for a while yet i dont see any pixel phone review , why is that ?
Maybe coming, there are so many Pixel 7 Pro reviews I doubt now anyone would watch mine or YT make it show up in search etc.
Huawei ♥️♥️♥️♥️
