I might get that phone when my contract expires in September. I currently have a Galaxy S4, and my initial plan was to get a S6, but that is no longer the case (no expandable storage and removable battery among other things put me off). How is the battery life on this phone? Storage space? Is there a lot of bloatware? Build quality? There's a lot more to a phone than just the camera and screen.
More controls than a dslr haha. Good review, definitely a pretty stellar cellphone camera. I thought I'd inform you about a couple things though... The 1.8 is the aperture of the lens, not the focal length. The f stop numbers for aperture are based off of the 35mm film standard, meaning that the 1.8 is what the aperture would truly be if the phone had a 35mm sensor (totally not possible lol). What that means is that while it says 1.8, it's not letting in as much light as a true 1.8 lens actually lets in. You also don't get as much blurred background because of the smaller sensor size as well. As sensor size gets smaller, the depth of field, or area in focus, get's bigger, making it harder to really throw out the background. If you invest in a 1.8 lens for your dslr (or maybe you already have one), and focus close up with it, you'll know what I mean. Also, the ISO setting is simply your sensor's sensitivity to light, the higher the iso number the more sensitive your camera is to light, which is why the image get's brighter. ISO is not a direct brightness adjustment. When you start pushing up the ISO numbers, your image starts to get much, much noiser, take a picture at the lowest and highest ISO's and compare and you'll see the difference, one will be VERY grainy. The times when you raise your iso are when you need a fast shutter speed if you need to stop action. Obviously shutter speed is how long your sensor is exposed to the light , so if your sensor is more sensitive (because of a higher iso number), you can get away with a faster shutter speed and still have a properly exposed image. Something they should've included if they included Aperture, Shutter, and ISO controls is a light meter (all dslrs have them)! To get a properly exposed image, all 3 of those controls need to work together to get enough light to the sensor, and without a light meter it is incredibly difficult to get that exposure right. Sorry for the huge amount of info, just thought'd you'd be interested in learning more from a pro photographer :D

Im German and still learning :] EDIT : I have a slight Red/Green colorblindness. Brown is invoveld because of the mixery of those colors .

The manual mode is fantastic for taking picture, but can you use it while filming? Can you adjust the focus while recording a video, for example? That would be very DSLR-like
Does it have shooting modes where you adjust only one parameter and then the camera sets the rest for an ideal exposure? You know like shutter priority, aperture priority...
i have a problem getting the video off of the phone in slow motion. i want to use the videos i take in external an software to edit videos but i cant get them off of my phone in slow motion, it only exports the slomo videos in real time and idk what to do, how did you go about it?
So when i record using the slow motion option on my LG G4, and copy the file to my PC for processing, i just seem to get a low quality 720p 30fps video ? How are you getting the slow motion video out of the phone from the slow mo option? It seems on the phone slow motion only loads a video into the video player at 1/8 speed, The file itself isnt recorded in a higher frame rate ? What am i missing ?
I love my LG G2, and the G4 is even better! Its probably one of the most well rounded phones out there not letting down in any aspects or features. The only thing wrong with the G2 was how fragile it was.
How you do the ying yang pic? I got the g4 on relase day with verizon, had the g2, g3, and now g4, epic phones, the g2 is still better than most phones in market now in my opinion

Hey guys. I have a same phone with 5.1 android. I try to follow him issues but something is not ok. I cannot find the slow motion options like him phone. I looking for the another options and i found it on a different menu point on the camera app. The video quality is so terrible....what can i do??
What was the Samsung phone? Glad you liked it, I have the G3 mini for another 16 months, so I can't get this, but it looks real cool as hell. As an aside, Chipotle sucks in my opinion.
I work at Best Buy in the mobile department and you got yourself an amazing phone probably the best in the market, may not have the same specs as Samsung Galaxy S6 but actually preforms better(the benchmark tests don't mean a thing to be honest) the new LG V10 is slightly and I mean slightly better and really the only thing the G4 is missing is the fingerprint scanner.
Probably good enough for TH-cam but the dslr has a much bigger sensor which is good for shallow depth of field shots and way better low light performance. I wish camera companies would get out of the megapixel race and give us a bigger lowlight sensor. The f1.8 aperture is a nice bonus though.

UHD is 3840x2160. So '4K' isn't the correct term (official 4k displays are not of a 16:9 aspect ratio), however most people do refer to it as 4K.

Does the phone work well as a phone as well? Not just as a camera? For example does it lag much?
©Turttrise The LG G phone lagged pretty bad. When I upgraded to the G3 the lag was almost non-existent. I'm sure that it will only improve. Owning a G3 I'd put my bets that this is a fairly stable phone.
