1/2 cup ammonia to 2 cups of warm water. Soak your combs and brushes for 10 minutes. Use a comb to go through the brush. Use the brush to clean the comb. Rinse with warm water. Clean every month. No need to purchase anything special.
I have had one of those tools for YEARS and I love it. I use Dawn to wash my hair brushes and some of my makeup brushes because it breaks down the oils. And before people say it is too harsh, they use Dawn to wash baby ducks caught in an oil spill. That is where I got the idea.
Dawn is actually super harsh. Those ducks are covered in the thickest, hard to remove oil you can imagine, so dawn is just proving how amazing it is at removing that. But girl, it is HARSH. Dawn wouldn't be able to remove that from ducks if it was gentle.

You can also use a papertowel and rubb that against your brush to removed the bunnies. It's usefull inbetween cleanings. Then soak in shampoo + warm water, brush with nailbrush to get it really clean. Rinse and let dry. Like brand new.
I recommend sticking it in water and just move it around really fast, especially up and down - the water takes it off and up the spikes so it’s easy to take out :)
Personally I use dawn dish soap and scrub with a washcloth between the lines vertically/horizontally. Rinse well. Then smack my brush bristles down and pick off whatever is left. Takes like 5 mins. Leave to dry bristles down. Rinse with witch hazel if you have dandruff or allergies (I have cats I'm allergic to) I do this maybe once a month. *I also pull all hairs out of the brush after each use.
Soak your brush in water with fabric softener. After anout 20 mins, use another brush or tool to scrub the bristles. The softener makes all the bits soft and they come off much more easy.
Highly recommend the detangling brush from Kiss Colors and Hair if that type of brush works for you. The brush can be taken apart to pull out the rows of bristles and clean all the hair, lint and hair products. Put it back together and it's as if it's brand new. Takes like 5 mins if even that!
THANK YOU, this has been driving me crazy!!! Ive only ever had this happen with my wet brush, i love the brush, i think its just the shape of the bristles. I just use tweezers to pluck the little dust bunnies.
I use the Equate brand anti dandruff shampoo and a nail cleaning brush. I wash them every week during my "everything shower" while I let my hair mask cook lol
agree. if people are going to allow their brushes to collect that much buildup before they clean them, they need the grease-cutting ability that dish soaps bring to the job
Those so called "dust bunnies" is just an accumulation of just fuzz from your clothes. Your brush will pick it up when you rub it against your clothes when you brush your hair. It's not stuff from your scalp like she's saying in the video. Stuff from your scalp can get stuck in said fuzzies but it wont be that noticable.
I use a rat tail comb and pick through each space. It is quick and works pretty well too. If there are any fuzzy left over I use a dense brush and “brush” through the brush lol.
whenever I get a dirty brush, I take some shampoo and a toothbrush that I use just for cleaning brushes and basically scrub away and it cleans the brush perfectly every time 👍🏻
Thats why I shampoo/clean my hair brush everytime I use the shower or when I'm on the toilet. Although I now switched to a knobless hairbrush which just makes it easier. Also those aren't 'dust bunnies'. The 'oil' that your scalp makes is a mixture of squalene and wax. That is your brush removing the wax from your hair, which is why after using the same brush without cleaning it can make your hair greasier. Almost like ear wax if that helps. Its not gross, but its your bodies natural way to protect your hair from split ends. We just messed with our scalps balance too much that we don't produce enough squalene to provide movement all the way down to the ends making it a bit more even. I stopped using shampoo (on my hair) and now only use silicone free conditioner and no one can tell the difference. Shampoo is not worth it unless you are washing something out of your hair.
I use a brush cleaner like that as well as once in a while when it's bad I soak it in a diluted white vinegar solution. It really helps strip all the oils off and helps remove the build up, for smell purposes. Sometimes if there is a vinegar smell left, I take a little soap and wash it.
I also use hot water and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to clean my brush after all the hair and dust is removed! It's really good for clarifying the scalp when used afterward so it's not harmful to hair and gives it a good clean
You can also use scissors to cut up the clumps. It helps a lot. Remove what you can then put your brush in hot water. It really helps getting the oils off the bristles 😊
omg thats such a good idea, changed my life
W a drop of Dawn dishsoap
Also take the hairs out after every use. It helps against buildup and is cleaner in general.

Can you please tell me the name of the brushes from this video.Pleasee
My shower head has a setting that you can use to essentially power wash your shower walls. It works like a charm on my brushes 😂
I use dish soap and a bigger straw cleaner thing. Works great!!
For this reason tangle teezer will always be number 1
