- Part 1 of 2. The Classic Game Room HD RESISTANCE 2 review. CGRHD reviews Resistance 2, the new first person shooter from Insomniac for the Playstation 3 PS3 video game console. Nathan Hale returns to fight the Chimera in America this time around. Resistance: Fall of Man came out a year or two ago and blew us away with its smooth gameplay, awesome storyline and tremendous FPS action. This R2 review shows that everything has improved. The sound effects, graphics, environment and action have somehow reached a new level of perfection. Although Resistance 2 has an improved multiplayer mode this part of the review covers the single player campaign mode. Controls are solid, the footage shows the action packed gameplay on the PS3 and the ferocity of the enemies who confront you. Your favorite weapons are back along with many new ones. The Bullseye, Laark and Auger just to name a few. R2 is a blast to play and this review has the best gameplay footage you're likely to find thanks to the CGRHD team of magic unicorns and video recording equipment. Resistance 2 is out now for the PS3. Highly recommended. This game is not likely to come out for the Xbox 360, Wii or Atari 2600 any time soon. Trevor Horan I'm really waiting for new Resistance game, although The story was concluded with Resistance 3 I think? I've even played Resistance retribution on the PSP, had a lot of fun. I hope they release a new game or at least a remaster like everybody is doing.

Why is it that fps sequels become like call of duty with aim down the sighs, sprinting, and only holding 2 weapons?

The reason I love this guys reviews so much is because he is open minded.
He doesn't go around comparing it to other shooters, or calling it generic, etc. If the game is fun, then he'll admire it. This is my kind of reviewer.

This game looks like an incredible one. I will be getting this game a few others. I won't forget to get Resistance 1 so that RE2 makes sense. Your reviews are very refreshing. You actually review the game with no profanity and you don't bash the hell out of the games in your reviews.
These are like the most subjective and non in-depth reviews that i have ever seen. I always feel like there's something relevant that wasn't mentioned after virtually every review i've seen. But i love it. The montage is great, you always get to see a lot of the game, and not the reviewers face, as is often the case. The quality is just sweet. Plus, you don't pretend to be subjective, as gamespot does, also no overdoing with the humour. And a big plus for not giving the games any ratings. Thanks
Probably mine too! I just love the amazing variety of weapons and intense violence! Plus it has a pretty extraordinary online mode. And it has a massive variety of enemys too, which is always nice.
even when I don't feel like playing resistance 2, whenever I watch a video on it, it makes me want to play it immediatly.
Not sure if I asked this here before, can you fully customize the controls on this game to use R2 for shooting and L3 for crouching for example?

Just asking. I don't really mind getting used to the the Resistance 2 controls, but I'd be happy if the controls were allowed to be changed.
Hm, I played the other two games on the PS3 and rather liked them, especially the third. Will the 2 weapon limit and regen health put me off and make me dislike it? The shooting sounds and looks better than the first, and graphics are crisper. But can it be as good as the third?

Can't you play 2player in story mode? like in resistence 1, cause i brought the game and don't know how to include a second player in the main story mode.

I enjoy this review way more than rays. Took your time on this review and went through every detail in this game. As for Rays review all he talked about was the negative in the game, which was disappointing because resistance 2 is one of the best underrated game out there.

Well, I always thought the first Resistance was very under rated, and now this one... you can't avoid the greatness of it. It's frickin amazingly good, and wait till Killzone 2 comes out.

Forgot how much I loved this game. Literally one of the best games I've ever played. Such a scary and awesome campaign and the multiplayer was so much fun too.

No, sadly. Neither is Killzone 2, which is even sadder - I thought killzone 2's multiplayer was the best online fps ever made.

Yeah... I got into this series late and I was immensely disappointed by how little time I had to play the multiplayer. It was pretty damn great from what I experienced. The Co-op was some of the funnest i've had with a game. :'(
I know this sounds strange, but online services shutting down on games I love makes me feel like a part of my life has been taken and I can never get it back. I had this experience with the Demon's Souls servers that recently shut down. So many memories - blink of an eye. Gone.

x is select on us and european versions of the system i believe, while circle is select on most other countries versions
yeah it has a wire that you can just keep plugged in the battery last's a long time and if it gets low a warning will come up onscreen and you just connect it and keep playing

Yeah I played the R2 beta when it 1st came out and it was awesome. I also played the Bioshock demo on my PS3 and it was beast. Just can't decide which one to get and I only got about an hour because I'm going to the mall today to buy a game.
I am so glad I got a PS3. To think of all the incredible games I would be missing, such as this!

@FPSMoses Sorry, this just came up as I posted my previous reply: The PS2 system data is only an addition to BC compatible PS3s. As far as I have heard, it is only for games that have to be installed to the PS2's hard drive, such as Final Fantasy (11? i don't know).
I love this game. Boss battles are freaking insane. Sucks there is no co-op for campaign mode though biggest flaw in my opinion.

I got this game with my PS3 alongside GTA IV for Xmas and ever since then I've been playing the PS3 extensively. My personal favourite games are GTA IV and F.E.A.R.

Resistance is my favorite fps game as well!! R2 is the first fps game I beat in one sitting all weekend when i got it, I couldn't stop! It's epic action in smooth gory fantastic 60fps intensity, with killer enemy and weapon design with a great storyline. Many people bash the game because it used in game cut scenes instead of a black and white narrator like the first...to them I just laugh..The in game cutscenes are cinematic, the first game was fine but they only used that because launch game.
@TimeBomb014X Sry for posting twice, youtube has changed AGAIN...
anyways, chimera could enter rage mode (as i called it anyways) where they could see through walls, but they'd slowly overheat where as humans could crouch to get behind cover (great for sniping), in R2, they removed that and just made them both play the same. yea that makes it an even playing field, but it really makes it seem like the two are exactly the same, no differences. its just not as unique.
I'm sure gonna buy this game can't wait is so fucking awesome!

I see they did away with the 4 section life bar that auto heals. in part 2 could you also go over the new life/health system.

Dead rising, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Condemned Criminal Origins and Bioshock(I got it before it came to Ps3). Was what made me buy the 360.
If more games like Infamous pops up on Ps3, I will definately have to buy one.
