  • Unboxing and first impressions on not only my first sling, but my first AER bag. This is the City Sling in X-Pac material.

The center zipper of front pocket is not practical as it makes the “pocket” shallower. Zipper should be positioned higher

Wow, this very color combination looks quite attractive, even better compared to a black X-PAC. I ordered a CORDURA black and still haven’t got it actually; I have no objections to appearance of it as of yet. However, I am already sure Day Sling 2 would fit me better: it is substantially more capacious having the similar outlook; I like strap placement making it more accessible and versatile; and it is cheaper being made of the same materials. So sorry I am outside the US and can’t replace it easily. Yet I still find City Sling 2 a very well-thought bag which has some premium take like metallic buckles. No wonder it was sold out this Black Friday.

An update: I’ve got both City and Day Slings 2 and here’re my findings. I like the fit of Day Sling 2 better, but in fact these bags can carry similar amount of items despite volume difference. I managed to put a complete set of items in both bags: smartphone, AirPods, 10 ma/h battery, a couple of wires, a wall adapter, passport, cardholder, keys, a perfume atomizer, wipes, vape and accessories, a metal pack of mints, and even a foldable windbreaker. The only difference is that City Sling 2 was ridiculously bloated, yet allowed to store the smartphone being connected to the power bank. I could put it out occasionally, and there would not be a hassle. Yet, Day Sling could store all of these things neatly and there was extra space, not sufficient though - maybe, for a pack of cigs, or a rather compact speaker. All in all, I like the finish of City Sling 2 better - it has some premium touch and feels more durable. It holds sufficient amount of items. It has some rather questionable solutions - a magnetic buckle and side straps, namely - but they’re done for the sake of having them, which adds to the feel, I suppose. Day Sling 2 has a key feature: a different strap setup. Being placed not on the chest, but on the belly, the bag allows for bulkier setups while remaining accessible and rather low-profile. I’ve chosen Day Sling 2, but thanks to me having a designer fanny pack which I will continue to use as a basic pocket reliever. Once I go for a park walk or a full-day hangout with friends, I’ll take Day Sling 2. But if I had to cover both scenarios with one bag I’d go with City Sling 2 - keeping in mind it might be too bulky for light walks or too tight for longer ones, but still hitting the sweet spot in the vast majority of scenarios.

You should do an update in the future to see how you liked it and if you ended up keeping it

What color is this? Looks like a gray x pac, did they discontinue this particular color?

@@ajackson-ross7295 I’ve only started testing it with my EDC. Picked it up to compliment my GR2 for one bag travel however and my first trip is this weekend. Will report back the. But after using it this weekend around town, I would say it is worth it. If you are still not sure, save some money and get the non xpac version, but overall I’m happy with it.

Best of luck. The more that I use the sling, the more that I like it. I also really enjoy the x-pac material and high vis orange interior.
