Both the FG and GT are actually stronger than an albright knot. It was tested. The GT (which is not what's shown here) is the strongest. It's basically a figure 8 to uni knot.
@@craigfrith7024 i didn't say there was anything wrong with it, just correcting your statement. You may never have a failure with the albright knot but the FG and GT are both still stronger. That's all I meant.
Hmm... I think I might try finishing it off with a half hitch or two to hold while I do a whipping knot. This would act like a ramp to help slide thru the guides.
This is the GT Leader Knot, or half of it anyway. It should finish with a Bimini in the braid, but it's not shown. The IGFA has tested it to be the strongest connection you can make. Video is kinda misleading as it shows only one side the complete knot.
Here is the complete knot. If this isn't the GT you tie, then you are better off tying a FG with a Rizuto, as it's much stronger than the generic GT everyone ties.

Isn't this an FG knot? The way the wraps are going down it looks a lot more like an FG knot rather than a GT - see th-cam.com/video/JsupznHQ4tw/w-d-xo.html - the finish at the end is just a triple overhand knot

Anísio Santos do a figure 8 knot on the heavy leader instead of what the video teaches. This has been done by the Japanese long ago.

Just use an Albright easier and stronger knot been using them for 30yrs never let me down regardless of line classes
