Loved this video, my final year is just starting too and I definitely relate to the struggle of having to come up with a decent research proposal when applying for Masters when we're still finishing our actual 3rd year Dissertation proposals hahaha. Best of luck with it! :)

Hey! I got an offer from Durham last month and ranked my college preferences last week based off attending my open day! My first choice was cuts, however, do you know if some colleges are more expensive than others? I know some people don't have to worry about money and that's nice! but I do lol. My second choice was Castle, and I'm worrying it will be super expensive in comparison to my student loan.
All colleges have the exact same pricing structure which is set by the university, aside from Chads and Johns which are separate. Some colleges will invariably be cheaper because of the types of rooms, but most will offer the cheapest type of room. Once you find out your college you should get an accommodation form to fill in, the form allows you to choose what type of room you want, e.g., a single with shared bathroom, a single with en-suite. There is also the case of catered versus self-catered. Cuths is part self-catered, part catered. But the catered section is normally oversubscribed. I put the catered section as my top preference, but ended up getting my last choice, although the only benefit was that it was the cheapest!! Hope this somewhat helps
@@thatonecharlie that puts my mind at rest! Thank you for that. I am looking for catered, single with shared bathroom, so I was just worried that the more “prestigious” colleges were more expensive. But from your info I’m guessing they’re all around the same price for the same type of room? Thank you so much for your help

Masters still in archeology? Was just reading a fascinating article in the Wall Street Journal on the Battle of Brunanburh whose location is still unknown - there are 30 proposed locations for the site, and claims for a site are very controversial. Seems like a good research project since no formal archeological work has been done at any of the sites. Plus the battle involved Vikings!
I still can’t decide between Leeds and Durham. Any advice/ guidance? :)
Go to Open days at both. See which course is better suited in terms of modules. Then have a look at the social side, what societies do they do (look up on the SU webpage for each uni). And try get the feel for them. Durham is a much smaller city, Leeds is bigger. It will be down to personal preference. But definitely look into them a bit more!

I have been to both open days which is why I’m so torn 😩I need to make my decision soon as student finance has already opened and I will feel more at ease taking my exams in a few months time knowing I have a uni set in mind. I want to study English literature at both unis.
Have you ever felt bored living In Durham as that is the main thing putting me off. Seeing how the nightlife isn’t great?
One final bit: which colleges would you say are the best ones for Durham ( I will be applying for NON catered if I firm Durham)

I got an offer from Durham! I honestly love the idea of studying there but being an international student, i am kinda scared of the often heard non-diverse culture there. Any tips?
On the contrary I got offers from warwick and durham and warwick has TOO many international students so I’m not sure…

@@ghxs7 sort of. Since I don’t know who’s been to durham before, I’m unable to get a first hand opinion. People have been suggesting me to keep these factors as secondary and see if the course is right for you here.
