    Glad I found this video. Just received cricut maker for Christmas, and could not figure out why iOS app on iPad kept stating no blade detected!! When will the app be compatible?? Computer is too far from craft room to move cricut back and forth from one room to the other across the house. :(

    Is the blade rotated freely on it's axis or is it rotated by software?

    I need help. I have had to return two cricut machines from my supplier because the housing for the knife blade has stopped working after calibration. I am so disappointed as I really love using my machine but as I cannot use the knife blade I am not able to complete some of the craft projects.

    I will be working with soft wood planks and a variety of wood veneers, and may occasionally work on materials such as particle board or other compressed-wood-chip boards. What is the manufacturers recommended maximum thickness range that the Cricut Maker will cut?
    Also, besides wood, what other materials would Cricut recommend the Knife Blade be used for? Thank you for the tutorials.

    • @Cricut
      @Cricut  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can find the recommended thicknesses for the knife blade here: help.cricut.com/help/machines/cricut-maker/accessories
      You can cut leather, chipboard, craft board and other materials that we probably haven't even tried yet. I hope this helps.

      We have a list of materials and thicknesses that the Knife Blade can cut here: help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009557073-Cricut-Maker-Knife-Blade-FAQ I would refer to this list often because new materials are being qualified all the time and the list will be updated. You should also add that you are unable to customize the setting of knife blade materials or make a custom preset, this is locked out for any knife blade settings, and this limits any creativity you may want for a crafting machine. The blades dull really fast because you are usually cutting harder materials like chipboard, wood, and leather. You cannot buy replacement blades for this housing without buying the replacement knife blade kit. Depending on where you are the replacement kits cost upwards of 24 dollars for not many cuts, not to mention how environmentally unfriendly it is for just 1 replacement blade. Why would I need a safety changing cap with each blade replacement, just plain silly.

    Could have mentioned that it wouldn’t work with an iPad. I wouldn’t have wasted my money. Already had the next older model. Bought this expressly for cutting thicker materials. Then no blade for...forever. And now can’t use iPad. I’m thoroughly disgusted!
