I completely see a use for this. The short version is there are times where I really, really, want to paint, but may not have the time or energy to deal with setting up my spray booth cleaning it up and breaking it down after during my work week. I can prime with a rattle can, then grab this and go.

I think I have thought once in a blue moon " I wish I could spray this marker colour" and have even 'decanted' a marker to put in my airbrush. I may get it, for that very odd situation where I'm willing to spend the high price/volume of a marker colour compared to a bottle of colour, to spray it. Thanks for finding and testing it, I certainly would never have come across it otherwise.

Hope you don't mind, I wanted to ask if you had any tips on color matching specifically reds. I have a figure I'm attempting to clean up but I can't nail the red on it.

Use a color matching app. You can take a picture of the color and the app will find the color or tell you what colors you need to mix for it

Interesting but as to practical uses I think you hit the nail on the head using as a safer, cleaner alternative to an airbrush for kids. I was thinking it may be good to paint the small parts on a car kit like shocks, carbs and air cleaners but as soon as I saw the price I said nope. I’ll just deal with cleaning the airbrush no matter how small the job.

I am a miniature hobbyist. I’ve been wanting to start up my own channel for awhile which will be a budget diy and tips Hobby channel. I’ve looked at many different products for airbrushing; mainly inks (acrylic, drawing, alcohol and watercolour inks) and dyes (leather and fabric). I’ve found with alcohol inks that you need to mix them with an acrylic medium or a transparent varnish (gloss or acrylic) to work best but you can also try putting down a layer of acrylic medium first, allowing it to dry a little until it’s slightly tacky and then spraying the alcohol ink over it. You can experiment with the drying time. It’s going to be different depending on which medium your using and the environment you’re in. Hotter, dryer areas are going to dry faster. This is also a great way to apply mica powders to your models as well. The perfect way to dry brush. When the medium is almost dry and is just a little tacky is the sweet spot. Experiment and give it a go. I’ve made some great translucent glazes with alcohol inks and matte varnish.

Thank you for the content, sharing, and thought provoking product. I understand the Acrylic Paint Markers/Pens are a challenge because you constantly need to remove the marker and pump/prime the nib; However, Oil based markers such as Sharpie/Copics do not need to be removed and may be sprayed for a longer duration. My question, if you are painting a Gundam body/Car Body, can the Alcohol paint be used directly on the plastic? or is it better to prime first? (or is this a bad idea all together??? In other words, stick with Acrylic or Lacquer for a Gundam Body/Car body). Your thoughts are welcomed.

This is aimed at folks who need a paint solution but dont have the space or ability to set up an airbrush station. Kids with Gundam markers would be an ideal target audience to get them into the hobby with paint choices as well. Nice item though probably overpriced due to limited market sales, again a great introductory tool for new folks and younger ones to the hobby and will give good results.

Interesting review....... I can't imagine using it, but see where it could be fun with a box of Sharpies. Although it does work, I don't think it would be cost effective, and with all the amazing model paints out there, purchasing pens to use the ink would be expensive and create a lot of extra garbage that is not recyclable. Just doesn't make sense to me, but I thought this was a great review. I have bought several airbrush systems after watching your videos and have never been disappointed.
With all that said, it could be fun with kids, a great way to introduce them to airbrushing, but you would have to be sure to put it securely out of reach or everything in the house would have marker sprays on it! 🤣🤣🤣

There are marker kits that you can fill with your own paint/colors. So all you would have to do extra would be to buy the refillable markers and then thin whatever paint you use and then you should be good to go. I wonder if they would be a good way for this tool to be more cost effective?

I ruined two markers and finally got it to spray the grey marker (kinda) but it made the grey come out looking 1000 000 times worse than the marker could have done itself. The recommended settings are akin to "stand on one foot and face north" in terms of actually making any difference or actually having any markings to make said adjustments on.
