Just because someone is late to the party, doesn't always make it less relevant. I held my respect to players who went against Pixy/SOLG/Megalith without F-22 or Sukhois, so kudos to you. There are not many games that could make us feel like it was ahead of its age, despite being an astonishingly niche games like Ace Combat in the PS2. The CGI efforts, the artistic vision, the moment where players really forgetting the fact that it's an arcade game so much that they marked Ace Combat series as "flight simulator" in Steam. The later I seen Ace Combat gameplays, more it ages like wine (except Assault Horizon)... but I would like Namco doing another documentary approach like Ace Combat ZERO because that's where the lines starts to blur into immersion.
Assault horizon multiplayer is actualy really fun. Dfm is a good concept but they implemented It incorrectly. I saw pre alpha footage of the game where the devs were making this mode and experimenting with it and in that build dfm was more tactical and skill based than what we got with assault horizon. Maybe they can use dfm the correct way in future titles because in theory it’s not a bad concept but it needs the right implementation and execution
That is part of the game. I was never patient enough to try and take down Pixy, SOLG, Sorcerer/Gault/Wizard or Ofnir/Grabacr with an A-10 (which I have seen others do), but I did match up to them in a basic F-16 and an Su-27. I still have a copy of this and a working PS2. I should see how far into The Gauntlet I can get with a basic fighter lol
Played this game when I was about 5-6 years old and been in love with flying ever since. Joining the Air Force next year and maybe even become a pilot in the future.
The introduction of all the different enemies as squadrons made it seem like you were fighting actual people, not just faceless ghosts.definitely added to the story

Indeed! Engaging in dogfight combat to the strains of Spainsh guitar and castanetas marked a new level of sublime in gaming for me! This game was in my opinion the best of the series. The Gauntlet mission at the end with that final showdown, was EPIC!!! .

You know I had to play Ace Combat Zero so many times in order to get every Aircraft Purchased, every Medal Obtained, every Cut Scene & every Named Ace in the assault records & after 2 years of pain staking game playing I finally got everything & saved it on one of my PS2 Memory Cards & boy it was a lot of work.

I remember finishing this game with F-22 Raptor and fighting against Pixy I made a strategy, AWACS said that I have to take out his air front intake at first I didn't understand what he means, then I realized that I have to do that head-on and to do that, I make Pixy comes behind me at full speed then I turn around and attack him with 2 missiles and it worked until he's finished
Remember they tried to make the pilots like knights of such which is why they have references like Excalibur and the round table The last mission when you have to face him head on it's like jousting like the knights of old

1:10:30 the "Bastion" mission is an extended mission, that means you can refuel your aircraft in other words you can get extra ammunition and fix your aircraft I remember playing this mission if you want my suggestion, if you choose the Flanker and the FAEB bomb you can end this mission so, easily and the FAEB stands for Fuel Air Explosive bomb it is an unguided bomb you can destroy the target wide spread and it's perfect tool for the ground targets and I remember the score I have to break is 16000 points I said I have to choose the Flanker and the FAEB bomb
