All that BS is straight Garbage by no talent people wanting the piece of someone else's pie. "So and so never got the credit he deserved and died broke and it's a shame and I'm upset that I have to earn a living Talking about it".... Said the music critic or the dude with a frickin pod cast.
Eddie had all the fame, fortune and all that comes with it that he could possibly handle

Mike Hampton may not be quite as good as Eddie, but he still knocks it out of the park, and this is probably one of the best live versions in terms of audio quality.

Mike didn't join the band until around '73 or '74. Maggot Brain was originally recorded around 1970 or '71.

That first note at 2:01is the most important part of the song, its like someone pleading for help or mercy and you are the only one who can help them, it draws you in and you can,t help but listen to them! So to all you cover guys you have to hit it right then the rest is a wrap!

I heard his amazing majestical funkalicious bootiful sublime higher conciousness-inspiring playing of this song with all it's glory and deep-felt tributary-ness to the divine Eddie Hazel and his inspiration in Boston at the Orpheum during a 4 hr. funk mob assault that almost had the balcony crash down..for real no joking here, and every one in that house was moved to a spiritual realm wit the extreme funkadelical soul of their performance..memories that keep you going for ever..God bless P-Funk/Funkadelic!

this is a pretty sick version. hampton kinda jumps along in time with the beat, whereas hazel was a bit looser (not a bad thing) and kinda dictated the song and its path more. i can't tell which version i like more. best song.
