I was born in the USA and have been living in Greece since 2015. Some Greeks think I’m crazy, and I always tell them, «πάρε τη θέση μου στην Αμερική που την αφίσα, γιατί δεν πας;». Deep down Greeks know the west has fallen apart economically and socially, but I guess they need an aspirant land elsewhere to psychologically help them. Sort of something to strive for. Some Greeks are simply ignorant to how much western countries are suffering (too many Hollywood movies). But in the end, I don’t want too many westerners to come to Greece because it’ll ruin Greece (higher prices, loss of language and culture, etc.). So at the end of the day, let the Greeks in Greece and internationally, Think that greece is ruined. It’s better for you and me.
so, having too many westerners will ruin Greece, but having all these people from the east (middle east, africa etc.), this is OK for the culture and the language? I also left Greece to study and work in the US for many years, and eventually came back. And I still see how even today, with all the woke culture and entitlement in the American youth, the west is in a much better position than Greece today...

Thanks so much for your content. It is a great balance of unfiltered, honest and inspiring. Myself and my husband are in our 4th month of living here in N Greece, and when you said you had to reinvent yourself to be a different version of yourself when moving to another country, that really chimed with me. We have no regrets at all about being here, and already we sre feeling happier, healthier and more relaxed, but there is more to the process of relocating than just those things, as we are now finding. I sometimes feel like I'm at that uncomfortable stage where I'm a caterpillar waiting to transform, and rearranging myself to become a butterfly! I'm learning more Greek language every day, making friends and learning about how things work here, but I'm also humbled by the kindness, empathy, generosity and politeness of the Greek people. I have a lot to work on personally... its very empowering actually, to have you remind us that we create our own reality. We are renovating an old house in a village not far from Kavala and we also have some land where we plan to grow a lot of organic fruit and vegetables. We've toyed with the idea of sharing our journey here on TH-cam... maybe we will start! 😊
As a Greek who has lived abroad for almost 2 decades, I can say that when the Greeks in Greece speak about "the struggle" they don't know what "the struggle" really is... You want to see struggle, move to Canada. Greeks always think the grass is greener on the other side because most haven't lived abroad, most haven't even been outside of Greece... If they do, they go somewhere on holidays and think that's the way people live there every day, anywhere is great when you're on holidays .... They go to USA and see people with big houses and expensive cars and think they are Rich, not realizing everything is on credit and those people own absolutely nothing but debt... Greeks always speak about the 1 in 10,000 Greeks who went abroad and became something but never speak about the other 9,999 who are working in warehouses, or washing dishes, or cleaning floors in some cold depressing country far away from their homeland and loved ones... So when I hear them speak of ""the struggle"" I get them to explain ""the struggle"" to me just to get a very short answer. Not enough money left at the end of the month to enjoy life the way it should be... That's the struggle???... Welcome to the 90% of the world! It's like that in every country. Even in the richest place. You think everyone is a millionaire in Dubai??? Go see what's happening behind all the lights and glamour... I always remind Greeks, your wage is €1000 per month and you might only be left with €200 after your expenses are paid... My wage is $5000 and at the end of the month I'm only left with $300 because life is so expensive in North America... Are the few extra dollars worth living abroad away from your home and loved ones??? ...NO!
I've been talking positively about Greece since I moved here in 2004. I wrote endless comments in discussions with Germans during the financial crisis, trying to explain the situation and the whys and how the German press had been distorting reality through selective information and agenda setting. I love Greece. I found a home here. It's not perfect, it can be tough, it has downsides, but Greece has embraced me and made me feel a fellow human living with humans. Part of a community. Nobody would need to pay me to share my love for this country. The Greek government doesn't need to offer money to people like me, because the people have offered us a home. That's absolutely enough.

Appreciate your videos and the wisdom. You come through authenitic and saying it as it is. Many envy and hate Greece and its background because they are not Greeks. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you for your honest observations in Greece. For many Greeks abroad or foreigners who have contemplated into making the life change to Greece ,your YT channel makes so much sense. When people of non Greek background like yourself ( who today is an Ελληνα)adapt to this country and its values be sure you make the rest of us Greeks very proud. Early next year 2025 I will also be making the change of life style from Australia to Greece. I will be not that far from Nauplio maybe we can catch up for a well deserved coffee???
I follow up your channel from the USA. I was born and raised in Greece and left for the USA during the 80s. I have a house in Athens and visit Greece twice a year. Most of your narrative is balanced and correct. I appreciate your time and effort to expose and describe everyday life in Greece. Thank you!
You are right by not bearing a grudge. I have lived in four countries for quite long periods of time. Country 1 Finland 19 years. Country 2 Denmark 10 years. Country 3 Norway 14 years and now Country 4 Greece 25 years. Of course there are some things, details, in every place and people I have felt negative or annoying, but all those thoughts vanish in time and lose importance. And none of these negatives have ever been a driving force for me to move. To Greece I moved simply because I for a decade travelled here all the time. I liked Greece, so I could as well move here. As an architect I had a compatible job, and I took the step. Even if it meant a sizeable economic downgrading doing it.
Daniel there will always be people who judge. Judge yourself. I know what you mean about how your surroundings bring something good out of you. I lived on Myjonos as an English teacher. I was teaching Greek teenagers full of life! I too became full of life. I miss Greece so much and visited Mykonos recently after 20 years. I still remember the Greek I learnt and I am back studying Greek and getting better. Greece has warmth, personality and a healthy way of life. I went there as a teacher but it was me that learnt the most how to live life. I hope that one day I will live there again. Thank you for the contect Daniel. 👍✨️
I totally agree with you, home is where you make it. I have been to loads of countries in the world, I must say I LOVE GREECE & THE GREEK PEOPLE too. Such a family orientated society, a pleasure to visit and if I could live there with my wife when we retire, I would. A great channel d thank you for sharing your story with us all, and keep positive. Remember the haters always hate, ignore them! Love and peace to you and your wonderful family x
As a 🇨🇦 when i lived in Greece in the 80s was a dream... And i grew up in Montreal surrounded with Greek people in Outremont, next to Park Avenue. I agree with you, many people do search to live in a happier place for a good meaningful life. Just like in 🇨🇦 we have countless cultures...as countries worldwide have multiple cultures... We're all wanting to live the happiest most meaningful life. 🇬🇷🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🇫🇷🇮🇹🇸🇪🇩🇪🇮🇱🇪🇬🇻🇪 Our world is a big world! Hopefully we all live we're we can grow old content safe and fulfilled ❤
I love your channel and all your experiences in moving and living in Greece . I live in the US and I visited Greece a few years ago and instantly fell in love with Greece and its people . I would love to retire in Greece hopefully in three years . Keep your videos going , they’re great !.
31:11 Your videos are a breath of fresh air! Inspiring for everyone that looks ahead to a hopeful future.Happiness is a choice, based on "Γνωθι σαυτον", "Οπου γης και πατρις" both very Greek and you practice it! I am Greek living in London, and now British Citizen too. Life is what you can make of it on whatever the circumstances. Greece with or without issues is and will always be a blessed place. It's good to look, but you have to see as well. Keep on...Thanks for your time
Greece doesn't need to pay for one to share its lifestyle. My daughter has been living there for the last 8 years, with her own family in the south suburbs of Athens. They vacation in the Ipirus region & it's beautiful! I visit often & I love it. Who would make such acomment. Ridiculous! Can't wait to move there!
True and inspiring comments. As a Greek living most of my life in the US, I can honestly say that I love Greece so much because I moved to the US. You have to lose what you had in order to appreciate it.
Daniel i commend you on your videos and sharing your journey,,if people dont like what you have to say,,well they need to change the channel,,dont let trolls with no life get to you,,,this is your life and journey that you are sharing,,,,,im Greek living abroad and am in the process of selling up and coming home,,,home is where your heart is,,,doesn't matter where you are from,,,keep doing what your doing.
Thank you for making this video. Big LOL at the guy that thought you were getting paid by the government. LMAO! Greece received 36 million visitors in 2023. In proportion to size, that's more than France and Spain (for example, Spain only gets 2-2.5x more tourists, despite being 4x bigger). Many places have overtourism now. The focus now is to transition to make a larger percentage of those tourists higher-spenders, and a lower percentage of them low-spenders. *Not* more mass tourists. And to do that, the govt sure as hell won't be paying someone to encourage more budget travelers on TH-cam, lol. The mass resorts in Crete are full. The focus now is to attract people to the more-expensive restored historic towns/properties in the Peloponnese.
Hey !!! People will disbelieve project and doubt !!! C'mon if you doubt someone all you need is a little time and all is revealed ... but attacking someone without facts is lame!!! BTW the checklist is a great idea ... people need it and I know very very well from my own experience ... AND OMG being Greek is earned ... and naysaying is very ungreek !!!
I want to thank you for your videos. You give a lot of inspiration to people and myself to live in Greece, even though the task is very difficult to achieve. Its great to see that a community of people that want to live in Greece is growing. Thank you Daniel.
I could not agree with you more!! these so-called haters before I refer to them as something else are one thing and one thing alone. JEALOUS !! you are living the dream and I commend you 100%!!! BRAVO! I came across a chat the day before about a Greek who was married to a non-Greek and was asking about the jobs there and so on, he was told by this individual that they are welcomed as a vacationer but to F off! afterward and stop taking jobs away from the Greeks, and because I did not agree with him, I was called everything in the book. I am telling you 100% you are more Greek than some of these haters you get the comments from. I have lived in Montreal for over 50 years but my heart has always been there. All the best Bill. Ζήλια is an awful thing.
Hi Daniel, I’m loving your videos. You are a natural philosopher, very Greek of you! I was led to believe Venezuela is absolute hell under Maduro. Apparently this is not true. I thought people were even lacking in food in Venezuela. Could you talk a little about how your family lives there? Thank you
We have a quote in Greece that saying 'Τα δέντρα που καρποφορούν χτυπάνε...' and it means in free translation.. 'They always hit the trees that carrying fruits...'
Good Morning, from sunny Southern California! I just discovered your channel and I love your honest and beautiful life. Your gratitude for your heritage and all the opportunities you have experienced living in England and moving to Greece is very interesting to me. It’s too bad there are so many “knuckleheads” who are apparently so unhappy that they cannot appreciate your vlogs and life story. Keep your videos coming as I love them and learning more about Greece🩵 Blessings to you and your lovely family💙 27:37
It's not easy for everyone to move , and I am not only talking move location, move to a different mind set as well. And there are lots of people facing true hardship and deptocracy. That's not an excuse to be hateful or negative. I had to pay a hefty price to relocate to UK, but this is my place now. Does that mean I don't love Greece? No, no way, it's just that we made, as a family, a choise that at some point flourished. We made friends, we bought our own house, we are happy. I love the fact you are brave to share your experience and inspire others. In a way what you say is look guys if I managed to make it work then it's worth to try , because if we get stuck in circles and stay static things will not improve.
You poor guy. What you must have been reading 😮! For everyone's information, there are dozens of TH-camrs doing exactly the same thing as you. We appreciate your candidness, we love you for loving and honouring your young family and by extension the rest of us❤
I just delete/ghost troll comments, move on and try to not interact with it. Its like dandruff on your shoulder, just wipe it off. Gone. Keep making awesome content Daniel, people will always have opinions and they can make their own channels and share it there. You dont have to allow it here. This is your house, your rules.
Wow! It was really a dumb comment. But there always will be some like that one as soon as we expose ourselves to a wide audience that covers people well beyond our family, friends, or neighbors. Some of these commentators would keep trying to draw you into arguing with them to make themselves relevant. Some of them are just stupid people. It will never be possible to explain yourself in either case. Then it is just a matter of life. Like illnesses, bad weather or the fact that our life is short. If such a comment for some reason becomes an entry point to talking to the rest of people, then why not. If nothing new can be said to address it, then, well, there is nothing new that can be said. Meanwhile, yes, life in Greece for someone who has not come here just for two weeks and ready to spend his year-long savings is a controversial story at the very least. You have always been honest about it. And you are rightfully proud of what you achieved in your life here especially because it was not and it is not an easy and obvious road for you and for your family. It is the commentator's bad that he is not able to grasp the story you keep telling in your channel. Not yours, for sure. You are perfectly clear in what you tell. My several years so far experience (this time) of living on a small island in Greece (in a village where just several people stay out of season) confirms for me all of your points. They are valid, one by one, every time you tell something. And the most important one is that everyone's road is a unique one. There is no universal recipe that one could provide to anyone how to achieve his dream. Whether it is a dream of living in Greece or a dream of something else.
Completely know what you’re talking about regarding the reinvention of life, people are often so stuck in their ways and see no way out and then go on internet spewing hate and bitterness towards people that are opposite. As much as this can bring you down please don’t let it get to you and keep sharing the beautiful content as it is giving people inspiration and buzz to change their lives 🎉
They used to call people like you a citizen of the world. I think that’s something to aspire to. It takes real courage to jump into a completely alien environment and thrive. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Do for you and yours.
OK I leave in Germany and also in New York City I return to my country 10 years ago and I realized one thing there idiots all over this planet in all countries, there also many good kind people all over the world.. So I made a decision to only speak about the positive experience through our my journey and it helped me to appreciate kindness and forget about how rude people can be..enjoy your life and family and remember idiots dont change wise man do.
BRAVO Daniel......as the words of a greek song says....."Enai e zoi mia thalassa, kai e-mees kapita nea-ee",......("Kathe Limani kai Kaimos" / Georgos Katsaros) Daniel, as a music composer, an artist must live with happiness, hope, and patience......the big three greek "E's" Eftechia, Elpida, Epomone......BRAVO and keep the course my friend... cheers, andreas ps: just packed my mask and snorkel......Greece in twenty days.......
A good portion of those that say "you have no greek roots" are the type of "Greeks" (commonly knows as Ellinares) that believe the only worthy Humans on Terra are the ones that are born from pure Greek parents, learn and speak only Greek, practice only Greek traditions and customs, listen only to (atrocious) Greek folk music (the one with the clarinet and the mpouzouki), dance in that semi circle formation and know only Greek history by heart. Those aren't Greeks. They are heretics against Humanity. You do well to disregard and ignore them and save your pity for your fellow Humans when necessary.
@@MyGreekLifestyle I don't blame you. To be clear, my point was that I consider YOUR observations of Greece to be pretty balanced, and that you're not shilling at the behest of the government.
Daniel since you speak greek and have a greek wife you are Greek! You look like Ancient Greek! Enjoy and forget the Jelloso people in the comments. The Greeks that live there before you picked and voted for crappy goverment which does not provide good pay like Germany or UK. Daniel I hope one day we can Cafe Mazi! Greek to Greek!
Hi Daniel, its a great channel and inspiring. Question: how do you create time for yourself when you have young kids? I have a son of 2.5 years and a little girl of 3 months old, but finding time and energy todo anything is really hard
Hi Daniel..may I ask you something that might be personal. How would you consider your childhood? Would you say it was a good and were you nurtured by your parents?
Daniel, I've been in Rethymno for nearly a month now. I'm navigating my way through the essential red tape required to live here. All it has taken so far is to ask a question here and there every now and then while connecting the dots in between. I'd like to think that that's why God gave us brains! Meanwhile, as I relax and enjoy this beautiful slice of Crete, I wonder how you can enjoy Nafplio while recording yourself into a camera and editing videos nearly every day. It seems like a lot of work in addition to the music you create, perform, record and edit for commercial purposes. I think for your own sake it could be an inviting idea to take a break every now and then and simply immerse your soul into the wonderful beauty and culture that surrounds you. Maybe consider the prospect of unplugging from the potential profiteering aspects of living in Greece that most likely motivate your YT channel; maybe simply let go and live Greece. I mention this because I have sensed an intensity and anxiousness in the [perhaps overly] prolific content that you deliver. Sometimes too much information can become redundant and less interesting. Conversely, often when we hold back and allow less to become more merely by deep and peaceful reflection, our messages and delivery may generate a profoundly greater impact. I share these words and thoughts quite sincerely, and only with good intention. ☮
If you have plenty of reserves and really don't need to earn a wage income in Greece, Greece is superbly wonderful..."άιντε, πάμε στο γλέντι!". On a not so good note, Greece is a nice/beautiful place to visit but unfortunately if you earn a living there, you will just be scratching a living with disappointment and anxiety. The Greek government and officials are either inept or think or do too much in benefitting themselves before serving their people.... very few elected authorities are "σωστοι ανθρωποι"... One needs to see how Ireland lifted itself up from its economic downturn in 2009 and compare that with Greece's... "φίλοι μου, κουνιεται το κεφαλι μου".
I can see why the Greek government pays you for your channel. Let’s say you motivate 20 people per year to move to Greece. They all make 4200 per month/50k per year. That is 1 million per year. Let’s assume they spend 80% of that income just FPA is 160000 for the Greek Government. If they also pay income tax in Greece then Greece benefits 200k per year. I can see them paying you 10% of that for your channel. Great Job

Everybody faces day to day problems, invoices, taxes, sad situations, lack of income, health issues, family issues…. but it takes some effort to realize that even if we can’t change (in a certain mesure) our external conditions, we have the possibility to change our attitudes, our thoughts, our words, our actions, and the way we contribute to make the world a better place… even at a small level…
The mindset is really important… To stay focused on simplicity, enjoy our daily life, the nature around us, our inner peace, the way we can interact with one another as humans…
Keep doing your videos & shares as you feel it… and those interested will continue to follow your shares.

Appreciate your videos and the wisdom. You come through authenitic and saying it as it is.
Many envy and hate Greece and its background because they are not Greeks. Keep doing what you are doing.
I enjoy watching you & I’m Armenian,Born in Lebanon,leaving in Montreal Canada for 37 years 😅
Keep it up
Thank you for your honest observations in Greece.
You are most welcome to come and live here.
Keep up your good work! Enjoy your channel very much!!!🎉
True and inspiring comments.
I'm Greek, & based on my experience, naysaying is VERY Greek...😉😝
Ζήλια is an awful thing.
im just moving to greece from finland , thanks you mate
Hi Daniel, I’m loving your videos. You are a natural philosopher, very Greek of you! I was led to believe Venezuela is absolute hell under Maduro. Apparently this is not true. I thought people were even lacking in food in Venezuela. Could you talk a little about how your family lives there?
Thank you
We have a quote in Greece that saying
'Τα δέντρα που καρποφορούν χτυπάνε...'
and it means in free translation..
'They always hit the trees that carrying fruits...'
Hello from Calgary Alberta Canada . Awesome channel
You've definitely earned your stripes BRAVO
You poor guy. What you must have been reading 😮! For everyone's information, there are dozens of TH-camrs doing exactly the same thing as you. We appreciate your candidness, we love you for loving and honouring your young family and by extension the rest of us❤
I just delete/ghost troll comments, move on and try to not interact with it. Its like dandruff on your shoulder, just wipe it off. Gone. Keep making awesome content Daniel, people will always have opinions and they can make their own channels and share it there. You dont have to allow it here. This is your house, your rules.
Great comment.
I'm moving in the next 1-3 months to Greece, though not your area.
Sometimes it's necessary to rectify misunderstandings to not fall into cognitive dissonance. Well spoken!
Thanks so much!
Microbrain haters gonna hate. Just ignore them and keep doing what feels right to you. Health and prosperity to you and your family. LLAP! 🖖
Ο ΝΤΆΝΙΕΛ είναι ο επόμενος δήμαρχος του Ναυπλίου.. Θα είναι με διαφορά ότι καλύτερο έχει δει η πόλη μας.The new modern lord byron in Nsuplio ❤
They used to call people like you a citizen of the world. I think that’s something to aspire to. It takes real courage to jump into a completely alien environment and thrive. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Do for you and yours.
"Never underestimate the POWER of you sharing your story."
The end. 💙
εισαι ωραιος μαγκας
I would move in a heartbeat if I could.
Love watching your videos!
100% if we are unhappy.... Move!!!
Chin up Daniel!! Haters going to hate I love your content ❤️
BRAVO Daniel......as the words of a greek song says....."Enai e zoi mia thalassa, kai e-mees kapita nea-ee",......("Kathe Limani kai Kaimos" / Georgos Katsaros)
Daniel, as a music composer, an artist must live with happiness, hope, and patience......the big three greek "E's"
Eftechia, Elpida, Epomone......BRAVO and keep the course my friend...
cheers, andreas
ps: just packed my mask and snorkel......Greece in twenty days.......
Your comments Greece have seemed pretty balanced to me. Full disclosure: I am not from Greece nor am I of Greek lineage.
The only reason why you don’t see the hateful comments is because I have deleted them and blocked them from commenting again.
@@MyGreekLifestyle I don't blame you. To be clear, my point was that I consider YOUR observations of Greece to be pretty balanced, and that you're not shilling at the behest of the government.
sharing is caring
Daniel, could you do a video with similarities/differences between Greece and Venezuela?
As more as you travel, as more you understand, as less you will be understood!😉🫶
Respect, well done!
Yasoo kalimera.
Wherever I lay my hat that's my home. Paul Young if I recall correctly.
Well said Mr Speaker 👋👋👋👊👍
I love this
Hi Daniel, its a great channel and inspiring. Question: how do you create time for yourself when you have young kids? I have a son of 2.5 years and a little girl of 3 months old, but finding time and energy todo anything is really hard
Keep doing like this.. In my opinion your choise in coherent and real . This place Looks like Naflio I’ve been there
I not need Greece to be sold to me. But a small push to visit is always appreciated.
Hi Daniel..may I ask you something that might be personal. How would you consider your childhood? Would you say it was a good and were you nurtured by your parents?
Why? You survived a war?
@@sanyolsanjol815not really. Why you asking?
I knew it! I knew it, that people somethimes post silly comments.
There's always that one individual making a stupid comment.
Your Greek wedding on steroids 🤣🤣🤣
After 14 years you are a Greek.
Greek gov is not that smart to fund someone like you.... unfortunately
Unfortunately the Greek government is not clever enough or not organized enough to pay people for such a thing. 😂
Great Job
The Greeks are good people, you have to find your circle to make your life better.
