I'm serious when I say I could watch and listen to you talk about collage piece decisions all day. I find it completely fascinating and absorbing. So few artists on YT talk about their process like this. I particularly like the idea in this video about thinking in terms of the relationships between the varied pieces. Thanks, Jane!

Hey, THANKS, everyone, for the comments. To me, visual art IS ALL ABOUT the relationships between the elements, or at least that is what I pay attention to in the process. I tend to really narrow in on just a few relationships, not look at The Whole every time I make a decisions. But every artist is different, and I would not claim that my process is one that will work for everybody.

A beautiful start! And 3 cat hairs. My pieces all have cat hair. A moment in time always includes cats.

I love watching you work while you think out loud, relating one piece to the others in a purposeful way while letting the overall compostion emerge as it will.

Using colors and shapes in new ways other than how we first see them has always been a fun aspect to collage which never gets stale for me. Your video shows a really good variety and selection of - as you say - having a good beginning. I've subbed and hit the bell to follow where this piece is going ! ! !

Thank you so much for explaining the process, and how you let your intuition lead you. It's so great to see how you work. Very inspiring. Looking forward to more parts to this one.. or even better: an online class!

I love your videos they’re always so packed full of great information! Can I please ask exactly what Matt medium you use for your collage work? Whenever I go to get some there are so many choices it can get very confusing...help!

I can't count the number of times I've had to pry cat hair off of a painting! It's annoying but I can't keep my cat out of the main room in my apartment...he'd howl so much my neighbors would call the cops! How I SUFFER for my art! Haha.

All of my pieces have cat hair in them. It lends a bit of texture.
