Jess the cutest thing happened the other day at my grandma’s house. I go over at least once a week to help clean and make some meals for her. While I was cleaning my grandma had been napping so I put on one of your old videos and my grandma had woke up and saw your video playing on my phone she came up to me and said is this your friend she’s so pretty! I said well she’s a TH-camr I watch and I showed her your channel and told her what you make videos about and she said oh I want to watch her with you. she just turned 96 and still loves makeup, clothes, and cooking I told her I would start watching your videos with her when we have coffee together 😌💕
It just dawned on me watching y’all today: what a gift you’re giving your kids documenting your lives. As someone who recently lost a parent, I’m realizing the importance of making memories…love yall❤
Can I just say how much I LOVE that you post longer content . Ive watched your content for years and put it on when cleaning ect. They are always the perfect length 45/hour. Love you and your family and God bless 🌹Congrats on the podcast as well love that too 🤪😊
I guess I’m officially a loyal follower 😂 as you were asking Tyler about the buttermilk and saying “was it the eggplant parm?” before you figured it out in my head I was like nope it was the Irish soda bread. Culinary grad turned SAHM these are the things that live in my brain rent free!
Trick for the avocados, once they get to the perfect ripeness put them in the fridge it keeps them from going bad for almost a week so you have time to use it! Also if it's too hard and you need it in a day you can put it in a paper bag with an apple or banana 😊
@@aliciapaul132 please explain, peeled or unpeeled? (I do have good luck putting a thin layer of lemon juice and water over the top of my guacamole and pressing clear plastic wrap as close as possible without air bubbles to make it last longer without turning brown, but that doesn't seem like the same thing)
@@chaosbecomesher so once the avocado is ripe I put it in water, make sure it’s fully covered in water, and then I put in the fridge and keep in the fridge until I use it. I don’t peel them, just put the whole avocado in the water. You may be able to do this before they’re ripe but I’ve only done once they’re ripe. This keeps them perfectly ripe and they don’t further ripen/brown. I use a water pitcher and just have them stacked up covered in water.
I freeze absolutely everything: leftover tomato paste, lime juice, lemon juice, coconut milk/cream, ginger, minced garlic, etc, etc. It has saved my butt so many times while making meals. Saves money, too, because less food waste!
Give Gigi an empty (sanitized) egg carton and have her fill the whole thing with nature treasures. It will give you at least 7 minutes of uninterrupted coffee time. 💚
Dying laughing at the scavenger hunt with G and seriously I would’ve loved that as a kid 😂 so a win win for sure! Love the vlogs Jessica!! Glad to see them more 🎉
I used to work at starbucks for years and I’m also a blonde roast person, but since they don’t brew it all day you can 100% ask for a pour over of blonde roast if they aren’t brewing it and you’ll get a fresh cup!! I used to exclusively drink pour over coffee and the grind is the most important part! It needs to be coarser than you would typically grind it so that the water isn’t sitting for too long and over saturating the grounds because the longer the water sits, the more acidic and bitter the coffee will taste. If you go to starbucks or any other roastery and buy beans, you can ask for it to be specifically ground for a pour over and they should have a setting on their grinder to do it. But if you are doing it at home it should be a medium coarse grind, just slightly finer than a french press grind. ☺️
Ahh! So about Starbucks not brewing blonde all day- we’re launching the clover vertica which is an amazing machine that will brew fresh coffee one cup at a time. It’s so fast and is going to eliminate so much coffee waste. My store has had it for about 8 months and it’s been amazing to say yes we have blonde, medium, dark, decaf + two reserve coffees ALL DAY LONG. They should be rolled out country wide in the next year or two, but for now they’re just in some Seattle stores and some test locations around the country. 🥰
I do pour over every morning. It is soooo worth it!! Whenever we have visitors and we make it for them, they say it’s the best coffee they ever had. I look forward to it every morning haha ☕️💗
2 things...gitta soak them for 15 minutes fir the baking soda to have time to totally clean and neutralize and pesticides...and if you kerp and avocado in a jar of water in your fridge it will stay good for at least 2 weeks, I've even used them after a month and it was perfect.
Hey Jess! Love your vlogs. One tip on avocados. I buy the bag at Costco. I leave them in a bowl on the counter and check them everyday. As soon as they feel ripe I stick them in the fridge and they stay amazing for a couple of weeks. 😊 Also, be careful about using cooking spray in your nonstick pans. It can ruin them. They weren’t meant to have that sprayed. That’s more for baking dishes. Maybe just the straight avocado oil spray would work or of course butter for eggs. ❤
We do the chemex pour over every day and love it! The trick is a kitchen scale, that way it is the same delicious coffee every time. The ratio is usually 1g coffee to 15g water-for my husband and I we do 60g coffee and 900g water. So good!
You can make homemade buttermilk with milk and vinegar (or lemon juice). 1 Tbsp vinegar for every 1 cup of milk. It tastes just like store bought but you just use things you already have and make just the amount you need vs a separate purchase with leftovers!
Jessica, the way you described that coffee at a semi- whisper, as you looked around to see if anyone was around you , had me laughing so much. I needed that laugh, and also EEEEW! 😆🤣😂 I'm still laughing. 😂
I love your vlogs, you guys are so fun to watch I can feel the chemistry between you and Tyler.. I love the energy!! Also I love how much you ramble and how you over explain stuff is just so you and your personality which I’m so hooked on 😅❤
My husband grinds coffee beans and does pour over most days as long as he has time. It’s very hands on like you said, because he tries to keep the water at a certain level. I feel like what Tyler was saying about 12 minutes seems right but I’ve never timed it. Plus that includes the time to grind beans. Also I agree that a coarser grind works better. I wish I had the patience for it
Former barista/coffee roaster here to make a few Chemex tips. Bloom/off gassing is roughly 30 seconds (you can watch for the bubbles to go down slowly before adding more water). Also, you want to place the thicker side (3 sheets) facing over the spout to provide support. You don’t want to pour multiple times over the same beans, so it’s better to make more at once if you want a few cups. Chemex makes the cleanest cup of coffee - it’s my favorite!
Pro tip for the mashed avocado from costco: freeze half of the cups until you are ready to eat them. I buy those all the time and freeze half the box! 😊
I make pour overs every day! The biggest game changer in your coffee game is using locally roasted beans and grinding them fresh every day! Can’t go back after that! But a pour over shouldn’t take much longer than using an automatic pot - if it takes a long time your grind is too fine!
I do V60 pourover every day. I’m a teacher - once the water is hot it only takes 3 minutes. And yes, I’m basically standing there for those 3 minutes, since you slow pour every 30 seconds, but I love the ritual of it, too. It’s kind of meditative. Lol.
TX Maxx and Marshall’s always have really high quality cards on clearance for $1. The ones that you open and you’re super impressed with how the paper feels. 😅 Sometimes they’re relevant, sometimes it’s for a holiday that just passed but I collect them all year so it works out!
With the Chemex pour over, let the “bloom” go down before pouring more water over it. The bloom is when the coffee grinds rose after you pour the water in.
I make avocado toast just like that but throw either Colby or gouda on there (and bacon if I feel fancy) and a glass of orange juice...yum..I have ppl come to my house just for that! Now I'm gonna need to get some!
I will substitute some plain yogurt whisked in milk for buttermilk and for avocados, if you put them in the refrigerator as soon as they start to soften they will stay good for weeks.
Re: your coffee, you may enjoy a Bunn coffee maker, it’s all we have ever had since we got married, many years ago! You put in a filter, add coffee, we like dark roast , then add water to top of maker, close lid, coffee is immediately beginning to drip into glass carafe, best cup ever!! Check it out for great coffee, we have 8 to 10 cups in just 3 to 5 minutes!!
You can make your own buttermilk in 5 minutes! All you have to do is add 1 tbsp of lemon juice or vinegar for every 1 cup of milk, stir, and let it sit for 5 minutes. Done! So easy!
I used to get sick of throwing out practically a whole carton of buttermilk for one recipe so now I don’t buy it anymore I just make it when I need it. 1 cup milk to 1 tbls of white vinegar or lemon.
Jess, because of you I have 3 of those meat choppers because we always were using the first one and it would be dirty when I wanted it again! I use it for all ground meats and to shred cooked chicken. Best thing ever!
Ya know I know this sounds like it goes without saying but I’m so glad you have never lost touch with being a regular person. I enjoy your vlogs so much because it’s not like a commercial for perfection it’s like hanging with a friend.
I love using the avocado mash instead of buying avocados. The timing was always off with them lol. Also, I LOVE the table and chairs set up! It looks great with your coffee bar setup as well!🥰
I have been using a Chemex everyday for years! Personally I skip wetting the filter. I feel like sometimes it gives the coffee a wet cardboard taste. I do preheat the carafe with hot water first and dump it out before adding the filter. 👍🏼
I trust your judgment when it comes to recipes. I made your suggested chocolate late chip cookies from I think NY Post or something. Those are crowd pleasers. I’ve also put your tortellini soup crock pot recipe into my rotation. So thank you 😊
as a barista i really appreciate how thorough tyler gets with researching & preparing coffee. pro tip tho: not the most precise recipe, but if you’re not sure how much coffee grounds to brew, you can put approx 20 grams (2 TBSP) per serving/person. not an exact ratio but it’s a nice rule of thumb if you need to eyeball the proportions.
To up the protein in the avocado toast I add chickpeas, garlic, and lemon... then i sometimes add thin sliced tomatoes seasoned with salt & pepper... and then the egg on top!! I try almost every recipe you recommend and they become staples! Just bought the everyday dinners and working through that a recipe a week! I already tried the goat cheese, lemon, zucchini pizza... so good!
I wake up at 4 am everyday and I start with yoga (Yoga With Adriene). Helps me slowly wake up because TRUST ME- 4 am for me is an amazing accomplishment and does NOT come easily!
I used to love the Tazo Lemon Loaf tea. I would make it like a tea latte where I’d steep it double bagged, then add a bit of lemon or plain honey and vanilla creamer - It really was so good! The only place I ever find it on sale or to buy in person is Target.

I don’t really got to Starbucks in the winter much cuz I can buy the holiday blend and just make coffee at home but like march-April all the way into wall and the beginning of winter I go a couple times and week and my new obsession right now is their matcha tea lemonade it’s so good! I also just got their new cinnamon caramel cold brew I think I like their regular salted caramel more

Favorite part of the vlog- Pinocchio’s face during the sausage cooking 😂
He’s always one of the best parts of the vlogs 😍
ME TOO!!!!
You can also use white vinegar in the bowl of water to soak your fruit. it also helps keep them fresh longer.

I was just about to post the paper bag with apple.trick for avocados. Totally works ❤
If you submerge them in water in the fridge they last weeks!!! I just discovered this and am shocked!

Tyler and Jessica sending Gigi on a scavenger hunt so they can vlog 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Imagine Gigi watching this when she’s older 😂 like 👁👁
Give Gigi an empty (sanitized) egg carton and have her fill the whole thing with nature treasures. It will give you at least 7 minutes of uninterrupted coffee time. 💚
This is Gigi is fast😂
Love when Tyler tells G to get a pine cone lol 😂 his face was like “yeah I totally bought us WAY more time” 😂😂😂
Hearing Tyler talk about the strong coffee he had in Seattle and running around the block reminded me of Michael Scott on pretzel day 😂
Dying laughing at the scavenger hunt with G and seriously I would’ve loved that as a kid 😂 so a win win for sure! Love the vlogs Jessica!! Glad to see them more 🎉

You can buy dry buttermilk that doesn’t expire for eons kept in fridge. Or and vinegar or lemon juice to make it from regular milk in a pinch. ❤
I love the tazo glaced lemon loaf tea! I'm an avid tea drinker so I can enjoy pretty much any cup. I think it's a perfect night time dessert tea!

Jessica, I am right with you on that Willa blush from Benefit! I got it from the Ulta sale also. It's absolutely gorgeous!!
The dining room table with the black chairs looks gorgeous!!
Love the way you have evolved from when you started your channel. Have been a big fan from the beginning!

The casserole recipe is like a savory version of a breakfast strata I make. Nice!
can you post your recipe? (-:
I do the same with the avocado toast. I always use guacamole w/fried egg, deli turkey, fried onion strings and siracha for a kick!
The breakfast casserole is now a family favorite in our house! I'll be making it (by request) for Easter! ☺️Just adding to the tangled web over here!
Love these kind of videos!
I think we're ready for a reality show "keeping up with the Brauns" 😂💜
flip up screens are great because it's less noticable when you look at the screen than side screens (it's also why teleprompters are usually above the camera)
I have had that tea! It’s great when you’re dieting, cold is best!
Yes, I used to do pour over everyday, but I switched to French press because it is easier to make more coffee and less messy. Also, I don't have to buy filters for the pour over.
I’ve made that casserole the last 2 Christmases and everyone loves it!! It’s so good❤️
I make avocado toast the exact same way. Try sprinkling some everything but the bagel seasoning on it!
Yessss, you just get what we want! 🎉❤ love the vlogs
Pour over pro tip: Grab a kitchen scale and mass the coffee and water! The standard ratio is 1g of coffee to 15 mL water (or grams, 1 for 1), but you can go up or down to suit your needs. It's a game-changer!
Bestie put your avocados in the fridge when they’re ready and they will last forever !! 🥑
came here to comment this! it is such a game changer!! 👏🏻🥑
I just learned this a couple weeks ago. Serious game changer
I purchased the Murad wrinkle correct, tried it twice and returned it. It was drying and made my makeup look cakey. The first time I thought I used too much so the next time I used a small amount and it just didn’t work for me. I’m curious to hear your thoughts.
I also have the L’Oréal tinted balm. It’s nice!!
you’re hair looks AMAZING at 16min!!! do you have a tutorial?!
We buy the little guacamole packages at Costco for avocado toast, it’s awesome 😋
Pour over is at tbe office (with a Cosori) , it's tbe only way to have good coffee!!! ❤
Happy Palm Sunday ⭕️❤️
I like your dress
I LOVE the Tazo lemon loaf tea. My mom and I buy new boxes of it all the time.
Happy for your life and all you have! Make me happy to see! My life change so different this days so, learning new things! 🙏🏼💜🥰
Living for the long vlogs!
Can you say where you got the blue flower top you wore at the beginning of this? When you were making the casserole?
Can you please share your eggplant parm recipe that you’ve mentioned?! We are looking for a good one! 😘
I’d love to see it too! And trust all of their recipes sources 😂
Omg when you were talking about the grapes my mind immediately went to ” have you notice gums gotten mintier “ 😂
Hi Jess I live in Australia and that murad wrinkle corrector is $120 so I would love your opinion on it as so many of those remedies don’t work.
The Dollar Tree has great cards a lot for 2 for $1.00. Usually stock up there.
I had a suggestion for Tyler's bookshelves in the basement. For visual interest, turn some book horizontal on each shelf. Love how it's coming along.
You are always a bright spot in my evening.
Vlogs are my favorite 💜
Freeze those avocado cups! I do it with the individual wholly guacamole packets from the grocery store and they thaw perfectly. Then you'll always have avocado on hand!
You have to agitate the grounds upon your first pour (agitate meaning stir the wet grounds light brown and frothy) to awaken the beans.
We need Tyler’s cake recipe!!
Chili crunch from Trader Joe’s is bomb on avocado toast!
Congrats to you for keeping up with the physical activity habit even on a day your body was calling for rest, you found a way to honor your practice and your body. :) (Im such an all-or-nothing thinker, I struggle to convince myself that a good stretch workout is worth carving out the time to do.
