- For the third take I put down a trumpet track. After over a decade away, I picked up the trumpet a couple of days ago and really liked what it added to this song, enough that I am putting up a new version only a week after the last version...
From Take 2:
This is the same thing I posted a year ago, but tweaked a little. The big change is that I rerecorded the vocals, concentrating on being in tune. I did one other background track that is almost inaudible, but helps (it is during the last third). And there is very slight tweaking of the mixdown. Not much, but the new vocals helps!
Here is from last year:
Saturday (11th of December, 2022) I was driving in the cold rain. Someone was tailgating me even though there was a car in front of me. I had been thinking of writing a holiday song, and so the words just flowed. I had all of the lyrics written before I got home. Sunday (the 12th) I wrote and recorded the music. I know, it is dark, but it ends in hope :) I sung, badly, the lyrics today (the 13th) after work.
Most instruments are Prophet Rev 2. Bass is Behringer Poly-D. Of course vocals. (Besides the trumpet, I added tambourine track to Take 3)
One odd thing - try counting it out ;)
OK, this time I will tell you - it is in five-four time. Not many Christmas songs in five-four... - เพลง
Sounds great, Trent. Trumpet adds a southwestern flavor to it
Thanks! I wasn't really thinking southwestern, but I will admit that I am very influenced by Ennio Morricone's "Dollar Trilogy" soundtracks, so that sound may have snuck in there.
I really like your trumpet playing hope to hear more of it in the future!
Thanks! Now that I have brought it back out, I plan to do a lot more with it.
I enjoyed this, Trent
Thanks, Robbie :)
Thank goodness for Silver Bells, eh!
Yes, or at least some music a little upbeat than this on the radio ;)
