I am a doll collector for over 50 years. I have many different dolls. For the past 8 years I have focused on reborns. I have a nice collection, including rare SOLE kits, prototypes and other high end reborns. But I also have boo boo babies I still love. I have bought a few dolls from Amazon etc too. This is the only way most people can have retired kits. I feel that the sculptors are part of the problem ; when they limit the editions so much. I definitely don’t support anyone who scams people by selling counterfeit dolls, but if people know what they are buying, then it shouldn’t be such a big deal. I recently bought a replica kit, just to see if I liked it, before I ordered an authentic one from an artist I admire. I also sent an Amazon replica to a dear friend of mine, to cheer her up after major surgery. She had to quit her job, and can no longer afford to buy authentic reborns. So I don’t feel that the replicas are truly replacing authentic reborns. People who can afford authentic will still buy authentic. People who can’t afford authentic can buy whatever else they can afford.
You’re absolutely right. No one should be telling anyone else what to buy and have in their own homes. The RAA and Dave’s name, blame, and shame game needs to stop.
Belinda's Babies is starting a marketplace to buy and sell all types of dolls. It may launch this weekend and the commission fee is fair. I am a collector and this is exciting news!
I seriously, for the life of me, don't know why there's so much drama in this community. I love these dolls, and I enjoy watching everyone's videos whether they collect authentic or replicas. As long as people are enjoying the hobby, why is there a need to judge people about it? I buy my dolls from Dave's website because my favorite artists sell there and it's safe. I'd like to see everybody get past this and be happy with their own stuff, but I doubt that'll happen for some of them, bless their hearts. All I know is I love the artistry that goes into making these beautiful dolls!! And I love seeing all of the clothes changing videos, and fun talk about how sweet they are to dress up and hold. So that's my two cents. Thank you for asking us.
I totally agree with you, I think it’s always been like this for years now I don’t think it’s ever going to stop unless the artist and sculptures protect their work it’s very sad. There’s so much going on in the world that this should not be an issue. 💖✨💖✨💖✨💖
So much truth in your video. I can't wait for the doll marketplace from Belinda's Babies! I'm working on my own TH-cam video about the reborn doll community. It's basically 2 hours long broken into two parts.
YES! I think I will try out her marketplace as well :) Its time we have another platform to sell our dolls that doesnt price gouge everyone with ridiculous fees
@@silliedollie6619oh shut up. I don’t use my dolls as “art” pieces and because one of my babies died I have to go spend $800 on a doll I need and want for comfort? Hell no I don’t. It’s NOT illegal and I buy whatever the hell I want and so can you.
I feel people are going to buy replicas and authentic no matter what. Some people buy a replica to see if they like the sculpt. Then purchase an artist rendered doll. I have all authentics at the moment and I am tired of being accused of my authentic dolls being replicas. It’s always been this way since 2014. They just jump from one thing to another. They used to fight over diapers and who had an outfit first.❤❤❤
One of the first things i did was drop a patreon membership of sue ellen tamborgina.. she is an amazing painter and artist but she made the statement she was making a list and going to share all the offenders. My opinion hurt her right in her wallet.. her Facebook group is the most toxic one I've ever seen.
Hi, very good video. This video gives the prospective of the artist selling on Reborns. I feel it’s a bad situation all the way around. I feel you can definitely build and sell on your own platform. Also Belinda‘s babies on TH-cam is currently building a website welcoming all doll sellers and collectors. Thank you for sharing! Your dolls are so very adorable. ❤❤
I left the community in 2003 because of the superiority complex of the folks on doll-fan. Back then it was more like people feeling superior over having the polymer clay ooaks. Vs painted up berenger dolls. I don’t recall the manufacterrr dolls getting looked down upon but I know only spent a year max in the community after getting into lee Middletons, painting a couple berengers and then I also got into sculpting for a bit before it got too expensive for me to continue . But definatly there’s been a them vs us feel for the reborn community/ baby doll community pretty much the second I stepped into it. I really do love talking to other dolly people but eventually I get where I’ve had enough and I just enjoy my dolls by myself.
The Mona Lisa has been copied and printed many of times it’s literally on google for FREE. Does that decrease the value of the real painting ? NO. But because of Greed artist feel like everyone is gonna buy copies it’s all about pushing fear that your gonna be outed or shamed no one cares what most people don’t realize this is social media if I turn my device off how are you really affecting my personal life so I don’t understand y it’s such a up roar when most of these people you will probably never see in real life ..
Hello, Trina. It is very sad. I enjoyed that site very much however I do not support what he has done or what he is saying now. I feel for the artists who are like you because I imagine DS's actions have greatly hurt the sales of many artists using his platform. I myself have purchased many dolls through his site but I will never purchase through his site ever again. I had not been aware of you until this video popped up in my recommended. I've subscribed to your YT channel and followed you on IG. There is a large welcoming community of kind people to surround yourself with here and create and sell babies to. Belinda's Babies is working on a marketplace for all dolls to be sold on so there will be that and promote on your own socials if you'd like. Sending you big hugs. ♥
Thank you so much for your support! Yes unfortunately I have a feeling this is going to affect our sales greatly and our sales arent good in the first place!!!
Bountiful baby has won many law suits against these Chinese manufacturers for counterfeiting their kits. They have also won lawsuits against the sites selling them. Unfortunately they have not collected on most of the judgments and have had financial hardships trying to go after these despicable individuals
it’s not so easy to register copyrights in China, just an fyi. And the only sculptor that I know that went through the stress of copyrighting her work is Ebtehal Abdul. Cost her thousands of dollars and an immense amount of aggravation and time. You should message her and ask how it went for her before you speak on this matter. If it was easy and not costly, I know that all the sculptors would do it to protect their art. Do your research before you post things that are simply not true
When artists and people like Dave from reborns only support authentic art, it is not bullying in my opinion when we take a stand and remove you from sites and groups if you support counterfeit artwork
'taking a stand' against customers does nothing but spread unnecessary hate. You said it yourself the companies creating the dolls are getting away with it because its costly to go after them. So how is that the consumers problem? Will you be going to go up to a family with a little girl holding a replica laura that her mom found on amazon and shame her for it? SCULPTORS need to do their due diligence and figure out a way to prevent the chinese business from replicating in the first place. Like I said in my video, thats not for me to figure out, Im just doing my own thing. I paint authentic because I want to.
@@DayDreamsNursery if you do the wrong thing you should be ashamed, no matter your age. What people don’t understand is that most of these doll sculptors are single individuals that don’t make that much money off their art, which makes it very difficult for them to financially go after the thieves stealing their art, which is actually protected by law without even being copyrighted. If people would stop buying the counterfeits, it would stop the illegal practice of stealing someone else’s art that they created with their own hands. I will be buying from people in the community.
Or if I want an authentic reborn I will be buying it from other countries where they don't do business with China.
