Those thousands of workers in Belfast must've been truly devastated and reduced to tears once they heard what happened to the product they were so proud of
24:50 In a really eerie coincidence the last survivor Eliza Gladys "Millvina" Dean died right on the 98th anniversary of the Titanic's launch May 31st 2009
42:37 The Olympic-Hawke case went to court where it was determined that the much smaller HMS Hawke was drawn into the Olympic because of suction so that the Olympic was held to blame for the collision. April 10th and Cpt Smith showed that he among others rejected the court's ruling when the near-collision with the New York happened. If Cpt Smith had believed there was anything to the suction theory then he would've hardly let it happen twice .
40:51 Much was made of those watertight doors that could be closed by just hitting a switch on the bridge but according to Walter Lord only a few at the bottom of the ship could be closed that way; the rest had to be closed by hand
Alexander Carlisle, Harland & Wolff's head designer (among other things), vigorously advocated and campaigned for more lifeboats on White Star's new superliners but was defeated in the end and that was I hear because shipyards didn't have the same political weight as shipowners. Walter Lord says he attended this meeting and was even made to sign a set of recommendations that reduced the number of lifeboats even further. In Walter Lord's words, "The roaring lion, so accustomed to getting his way on the shipyard, turned into a pussycat when it came to dealing with the client." (I think he was eventually tired of fighting the system?) Carlisle attended one of the disaster church services and was unable to stay until the end; at one point he broke in tears and collapsed on his seat. He had to be rushed to the hospital and had to be driven home after
7:54 Thomas Andrews, along with Cpt Smith and 1st Officer Murdoch, may in the end have actually chosen to go down with the ship rather than potentially get faced with hefty, unpleasant grilling at court (and probably jail time too, on top of that). It would've been either that or at least they were afraid of becoming outcasts. The reasons are very cogent: Thomas Andrews and Cpt Smith knew exactly that the Titanic had far from enough lifeboats; Murdoch issued the very orders that failed to save the ship .
16:22 Evidence has come to light that the Titanic also rode, if only for a bit, on the berg; the double bottom was damaged at boiler room 4 and water seeped in through the resulting hole.
The Titanic's troubles begin with her very name. Titanic is the adjective for Titan, and the Titans in Greek mythology were a race who waged war against Zeus, the so-called "god of gods." This is the part of the story that seems familiar to quite a few. The part that seems unknown to most, shipowners at the time included, is that - guess what - the Titans lost. So, the Titanic was eventually defeated by her very name, as it were - and during her maiden voyage, at that .
What was the Titanic's eventual destination? New York. What was the name of the ship she almost collided with? Of all names - New York. Isn't that quite something
The Titanic did get her share of attention and publicity but it was mostly together with the Olympic which was after all the older sister so she was the one that got the bulk of the attention and publicity
Okay you have two sheets of metal held together by rivets, surely there has to be some sort of sealant between the plates. Rivets on their own wouldn't make a watertight joint. Another thing thinking you better than Nature or God is kind of inviting disaster. The exhibition is well worth the visit.
This overdramatic intros always... the biggest bla bla most luxurious bla bla Oceanliner of the century blabla... just one month after Titanic maiden voyage the Imperator Class launched, much bigger, much more luxurious (just compare things like the swimming pool) and technological advanced. Without Titanic sinking nobody would remember this vessel today.
How come "weak rivets" still hold the hull of the wreck? How come the exact same materials never caused structural issues on Olympic. Olympic had little to no hull maintenance throughout the 24 year career.

The fate of Titanic was already sealed when the crew/people said that not even GOD could sink the ship

If it floats it sinks.. 👍
Or like someone commented on the other doc "If you think your ship is unsinkable then what happens is the unthinkable"
The Titanic did get her share of attention and publicity but it was mostly together with the Olympic which was after all the older sister so she was the one that got the bulk of the attention and publicity
Fun fact!
Most of the footage seen here is mainly the Olympic represented as Titanic
Rivets and cold water makes metal do funny things then throw a house of a iceberg
"Throw a house of an iceberg" ...

When steel cools it shrinks.
This means the rivets shrank after installation.

Toobad they used weak rivets
No they did not... Harland & Wolff was one of the best shipyards at the time they would not use "Weak rivets"
