In his post race interview, he gave Reddick, his own teammate, one of the most disrespectful congradulations I've ever seen. Can we talk a bit more in depth about that 34? McDowell qualifies 9th and 7th back to back weeks at ovals, then the race begins and the car proceeds to fall off a cliff. He's like the polar opposite of Kenseth, qualifies well especially for his equipment...then come race time it's like he has a parachute in his rear spoiler. It only makes me wonder what his qualifying efforts would look like if he ran in a Penske car, but it's brutal to see a qualifying effort and think "Yep I wonder how this will translate to Sunday..."

I thought it was a decent race. 70% for me. I had predicted Denny Hamlin to win the cup race, but it was nice seeing Reddick win. Hopefully, Martin Truex jr. makes into the round of 12.

He wouldn't name a team for Hocevar, but he said he is going cup racing next year. The very fact the regular season champion's facing potential elimination in the VERY FIRST ROUND no less should show NASCAR (They want it for entertainment) this points system for the playoffs is incredibly skewed and doesn't reflect the whole context of the sport's competition. So many red flags on a tightrope line. Omitting the resets, Martin's actually second to Denny in the non playoff standings according to the statisticians, but I know that technically doesn't count for anything, even though it should be everything. I'm not just whining as a Truex fan, but as someone who just wants the scientific objectivity. Unpopular opinion (I like things to be controversial, lol), I cannot stand Chase Elliott especially with what he did to Denny (I know Denny's misbehaved this season too. He should be held accountably too) at Charlotte and was caught lying about it, but also today with how he doored Kyle Larson coming out of the pits on the final stops because he thought Kyle intentionally ran him over when it was just the frenzy of Brad accelerating quickly to retain the track position that he accidentally got into 'em. So entitled of Chase as with many of his indiscretions at times in the past. He's shown lots of his truer colors, so it's a mistake for his fans to take him for some kind of paragon for moral infallibility, but even he arguably got robbed of a championship last year because of this elimination style format with how consistent he was on the track for the most part in 2022 relative to 2023. No one can deny because of the nepotism that goes with his last name, he gets special treatment in both discreet and very obvious ways too from race control. It was his aggression this year that was his undoing. All of Chase's fans are welcome to debate me on that premise since my favorite driver works for the same team as well. Chase Elliott may be passed off as the face of HMS and frankly NASCAR both, but Kyle Larson's the heart of each currently.

@@johnhaas2523 I don't care. I'd rather have legitimacy in sports, than forced game seven moments all the time. Game seven moments are great when they happen naturally and not all the time at least to me. This garbage points system appeals to people with shorter attention spans. That's where its appeal primarily rests. No offense, but I'm saying my piece too. No one can ever tell me a team that finishes consistently inside the top five, say they get at least one win in the final ten races, but most importantly they're never outside the top ten, meanwhile the "actual" champion snags four wins and has six DNF's altogether in the final stretch has less points than who the system unfairly rewards as champion. At the very least, the old chase along with the stages' bonus points would make more sense than the playoff era.
