Just received my recon 1 clip point today the action is as smooth as butter I had bought the spear point for my father and noticed it had a sticky lock mechanism and the back spring wouldn’t completely shut close leaving the blade hanging at first I thought it was a fake but after some light research I found that other people had similar issues with the mechanism needing to be broken in I spent a couple of hours opening and shutting the blade and the mechanism improved but had this annoying squeaking noise I felt bad cuz I bought it as a present to my father but he hasn’t had any issues with it so far so I guess it just needs more time to break in was completely surprised by the clip point recon 1 coming out the box with none of those issues I guess it’s just a roll of the dice in what you receive
i had 4 recon 1 sofar and none of them had that issue, sounds like whoever put it together in the factory put a tad too much pressure on the pivot screw.
I have no experienced any issues with rusting - I believe it is metal backspacer but not 100% sure- the new Magnacut one may be your best bet for stainless
What I like about the Tanto is that it has that secondary point- this makes for excellent fast snap cuts The tip is reinforced making it very good for deflecting off bone or any hard areas… my favorite though has to be the Bowie for versatility and overall great performance! If you want a nasty classic tanto check out the CRKT Otanashi Noh Ken!
Correction @5:40. The Recon 1 mini has a (just under) 3" blade length, with a 2-3/4" cutting edge.

Cold steel need to update their Recon 1 series with the thumb plate like the AK-47 has.

Does the inside parts rust? Is the backspacer aluminum?

Can you stab effectively with the tanto tip? It doesn't look optimal for stabbing with if you had to defend yourself in a sticky situation.
