  • I've been thinking of storage ever since I got a notification on an iPhone 4 saying I need to buy more storage on iCloud. Thanks to the internet, I learned something called a NAS (Network Attached Storage), it's like Google Drive or some other cloud service but YOU get control of your data and not some company. In this video, I made my own NAS instead of buying a prebuilt one on Amazon because of money. Here's my journey to my first home nas and obviously, I'm not an expert, so leave your comments down below if I mess up something.

This is my first video edited on Davinci Resolve! It's a pretty good video editing program but it unfortunately sucks on Linux, at least for me.
I had to encode my mkv, mp4, or MOV files to be able to import it to Davinci Resolve because there is no H.264 or H.265 support on the free version. When exporting my video, I had a rendering error which I can just fix by unchecking a option in the settings. Since the codec support in the free version is bad, I had to export it using DNxHD or whatever, the file size was 10GB, quite big, so I had to transcode it back to .mp4 to upload it to TH-cam because I don't want to upload such a big file. Oh, and when editing, I would sometimes have the "your GPU memory is full" error and I would have to restart or switch my NVIDIA drivers.
Don't get me wrong, Davinci Resolve is a good program, but for now, I'll just stick with Kdenlive, and I'll wait until the free version is better or until I can get the paid version with better codec support.

Bro this was revealing. I've been wanting to update to a NAS for ages but have been hesitating for exactly the same reason, the dollarssss, especially considering that when buying a NAS it makes more sense to buy a 4 or 3 bay one to always use one as backup. Seems incredibly annoying to me, and a bit of a waste in a sense.
