    I worked on the fan translation of this game, so I thought it might be fun to react to the official localization, while telling some of the many, MANY stories I have from the fan translation days. Also, Investigations 2 is an INCREDIBLE game, easily one of my favourite Ace Attorney games, and it's going to be a joy to re-experience.

      I know one of the Translation team, who joined later, was a TH-camr who did his own subtitled fan-translation, with his own set of fan names.
      I mostly remember working with Tanaka Houji (me and him did Case 1) and N-Forza.
      Props to whoever did the coding for getting 3 lines of English text per text box. That stumped and stalled us for a while, I remember.

      Also in fan translation team:
      Hacking/format discovery: Hackotedelaplaque, jjjewel, Henke37 and Auryn.
      Tools: Hackotedelaplaque (Sprite and Text Studio), Henke37 (GKTool) and Whivel (AceFontII).
      Graphics Editing / Graphics Insertion: Mrichston, Secretmonster, Jinnai, Hamster, Percei, Shiro09, Purple Handprint and Auryn
      Testing / Debugging: Mrichston, Hackotedelaplaque, Choky, Rollingball, Henke37, Plaster Wright, Xalusc, Shiro9, Accord, FinalClipX, HanOnimous and Auryn.
      I did part of text inserting too and compiled every public release. I was kinda leader of text inserting team too. And without ppl who did hacking and made tools, there wouldn´t have been any fan translation, because we had so many technical problems to solve.

    4:04:16 It was stated in the chat (though you didn't appear to notice it), but it was shown in an interview that Knight's Japanese VA was Tatsuro Iwamoto, character designer for the original trilogy and the Investigations duology, as well as Edgeworth's Japanese VA! (He was even brought onboard the AAI Collection to design all the new mini-sprites!)
    4:33:54 While both those reasons are correct, another reason the game couldn't have been localized at the time (as revealed by Eshiro) was that as soon as Investigations 2 completed production, the entire development team was dissolved and relocated to other Capcom projects at the time, meaning they were unable to be involved in the localization process to begin with (and as I learned from Hsu's various localization blogs, the involvement of the development team is actually very important in the localization process).

      @BigKlingy  วันที่ผ่านมา

      4:04:16 I noticed the name but didn't know that was what he did! Now I have more reasons to admire him than just Knight's really cool Japanese Objection.
      4:33:54 Good to know, and that makes a lot of sense. Sucks if the dev team got dissolved though. Wonder if that was due to low sales or other reasons. And yeah, it's pretty clear that the dev team is involved a lot in localizations, even in the reverse: Janet Hsu apparently wrote a lot of the English text in the Japanese Great Ace Attorney releases)

    This has nothing to do with your commentary, but I personally find Kay really frustrating. Not because of her character, she’s a likable enough character, and it’s shown that she can take the situation seriously when she needs to. I just find her frustrating because of how much she broadcasts her title.
    The Investigations series builds up the Yatagarasu and their role a lot, and it was one of the more interesting aspects of the first game. It’s fine that Kay takes pride in it, but the fact that she insists on blurting it out in front of members of law enforcement makes the alias completely worthless. If she ever goes forward with it, then her identity and appearance would be known to literally everyone.

      My stance on spoilers is the Ace Attorney games try very hard not to spoil other AA games (besides the GAA duology, which are more like two parts of one big game) so I try to respect that. If you mean spoiling things later in this game, I want to save talking about that stuff until when I get there.

      This is going to be a game with advertiser unfriendly topics, as you'd know better than I. You'd be lucky if you weren't demonitized for showing an entire M-rated game in the first place, and while you should get that dough where you can, you also might have to just cop a demonisation. I cringed so hard at 'unalive chess', don't wanna hear that in the context of this game or series ever again.
