@@CharltonsClassics my 2014 is old, so if you don't do the calibration it just disables TC entirely. You've to do it after throttle learning as well. Not sure if that's a thing for the newer bikes.

my OEM '23 rusted and started binding at 7k miles and I used lithium. lol, you don't have to remove the front cover to remove the back front sprocket cover.
Hope you put some Loctite on that front sprocket bolt , didn't see it when you were fitting the new bolt. I and a friend have had them come loose and bend the bolt the same as the original one.

with your stock gearing did the bike really bog when you'd coast and let the bike settle and idle in a gear? and did this fix that specifically? I've been trying to find a remedy to the really rough idle/coasting this bike does. for example like coasting to a stop in first for second without clutch or brake the bike shakes and bucks a lot. I have a 22' V4 Factory
Hi mate, I can't say I've experienced that specifically, but the bike was a bit of a pain to ride around town and at 30mph with the standard sprocket. It felt in between gears and getting into 6th you had to be at motorway speeds really. Now it rides really well and has probably improved the MPG too for what it's worth. If it's still under warranty is it worth the dealer doing an OBD check to see if it's on the later engine software and check for any glitches? Mine had updated software plugs at the first service...
You always run the calibration mode on Aprilia’s every time you change the sprocket, tire profile or wheel. Otherwise you will experience rough/inconsistent shifts, faulty Traction control engagement, and inaccurate speedo
@@CharltonsClassics normally you don’t unless you’re changing the tooth count but if it’s worn down enough it, changes the consistency and synchronization between the throttle, gearbox, and wheel rotation. Resulting in the ecu trying to constantly adjust to its inconsistency
I run a 17MY and always do calibration for a new tyre it takes 3 minutes, I mostly run sport touring tyre's and do the calibration every 1,000 miles to compensate for tyre wear, so if you run something like Supercorsa I would do it more often. I have had 15 rear tyre's so have done the calibration many times, it's a shame Aprilia don't do self calibration as Ducati do I believe. I also can feel a difference with the quick shifter and when talking about it to another Aprilia friend he feels the same about the quick shifter
@@paulcraigsmith9807 Right! You’d think Aprilias ecu would be able to auto calibrate. It has all the sensors in the world and can tell when you’re riding on the track and changes the service light to come on sooner to compensate. I’ve seen in the software there’s programs for tpm (Tire pressure monitoring), I’m sure it’s for the next gen.
@@stumo114 Yeah mine felt like it was getting bogged down at slower speeds and I wasn’t used to cruising in 2nd at 30mph (compared to 5th gear on the Fireblade). Just make sure to spin the wheel and look for any lifts in the chain. Turns out mine was off centre / oval, so had it replaced. Didn’t realise at first and kept adjusting the chain tension. Earlier gen APRC had to be calibrated using the dash in case of a sprocket or tyre change. It's good to do it from time to time
