So I just followed this tutorial step by step since I haven't drawn hair digitally that much. I just wanted to say: THANK YOU! The hair turned out exactly the way I wanted to for a semi realistic drawing I was making. Subscribed your channel. ❤️✌️
This is actually really great! I'm going to try and color hair with details like this for the first time instead of just using a fill bucket and leaving it completely bland lol. I'll try this technique, thanks for the video!
I just wanted to sy how thankful I am for this video! I love it.. Very simple way to draw hair and I been looking for a video like this for months! thank you again :)
I, too, thank you for your efforts! I am a beginner, having started to learn PS this year in January. I watched this thinking it would be way over my head, and my efforts look ridiculous - but it looks so cool!! Believe me, if I can do this - with absolutely zero drawing ability whatsoever (hence learning photography!) - then this should be achievable for anyone. Thanks again, I am so excited to have done this!
Thank you... I can't even express to you how difficult and how much I have paid, downloaded, studied and can't get it right and you nail it soooo fast with the perfect created brush. Your gallery is fantastic on DA too... Bravo!
This was a terrific help! I'm about to redo the hair I've been working on using this... after weeks of trial & error using standard brushes. Cheers mate!
Hey, you mean it doesn't let you / show you brush size you are using along the top pannel? if you right click on your page / canvas with brush tool selected, does it have a size there?
thank you so much for this tutorial!! this is my first time using photoshop let along digitally painting. such a well-explained and thorough video, first experience was a blast!!
Thanks so much for watching! When you first start using Photoshop it might take a little while to get used to, but trust me, it will come and you will be a pro in no time!
I've been looking for a way to paint hair and I found your technique looks pretty nice. Thank you for taking time out and helping others that are trying to achieve these results especially when they never drew hair in their life >.
Hey, when you say a shadow, do you mean a darker tone around whatever colour you use ( do you have any layer effects turned on like glow or shadow in the layers menu on the right)? Or do you mean instead of having a harder edge, the brush is leaving a gradient / soft airbrush effect on the outside of each stroke?
@SketchedbySte Hi.I have lighter shadow around my brush.yesterday,I selected one by one circles and then saved my brush. Now I have no problem. Is it true? Thank you.
@@S.k-kw3rv is the lighter shadow on the initial / first brush you are using to create the custom hair brush from? Or if not, at which stage of the video do things look different for you?
Hi their I settled the brush to the same setting as yours with the shape dynamics, transfer ect but my pen pressure comes up with (!) next to them and I think it might be the course for the settings not working and instead it comes out like black blobs im using a tablet and cs6 is their anything you can advice?
musicalspygirlLU Could you possibly upload the image to a website like imgur.com/ and post me the link so I can see what you mean. Usually that '!' comes up next to pen pressure when you are using a mouse or your pen has no pressure. does your pen and tablet definitely have pen pressure levels? To check this, just choose any brush with any transfer or dynamics on and see if it response to the pressure you use i.e brush gets bigger the harder you press. if that works we can at least rule that out. Also make sure when you make the brush you use your pen and tablet to do it all. if you switch to the mouse, it again shows the exclamation mark next to pen pressure as it doesn't pick the pen up. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching :)
A question next to control appears as a triangle with an exclamation point inside and the brush does not change. It remains the same. What should I do?
Hi there, it usually shows that on something that can use pressure sensitivity for example from a graphics tablet, the '!' int he triangle usually means it cannot detect a device that has the pressure sensitivity.

Hey, thanks for watching my digital painting hair tutorial. Yes you could make this with a mouse, the brush itself would work still but there would be certain elements that would not work with a mouse due to it not having the pen pressure sensitivity. i.e as you press lighter the hair strands get smaller. with a mouse that wouldn't happen.
Does this require practice. I tried it and it doesn't look too much like what the one in the video. Mine looks very stringy and blotchy. Also I'm using Photoshop Elements which is different when using brush settings so I tried to find substitutes.

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I am open to making a video like that but I would need to play around with it myself for a bit first as I don't usually use a mouse to draw, so I will definitely need to experiment!
bro can you make a tutorial for mouse users???i dont have tablet...so if you make a mouse tutorial it would help me alot!
Thanks for watching! I think this method of creating the brush should work for mouse users too just without some of the effects / a little more limited. I might look into mouse tutorials in the future, but at the moment I am afraid I don't draw with the mouse - So I wouldn't be the best to give advice with it I'm afraid :(
learningasidraw OH ITS OKAY BRO...NO PROB..BTW THANKS..
