During the Bakumatsu period, the Shogun didn't "let" Westerners settle. The US just showed up with overwhelming forces and said to the shogun "You will open Japan's trade to Western powers' control, or else..." Japan was the last chessboard in the US' Western expansion. It was to become a colonial port between San Francisco and Asia. Those treaties destroyed the Japanese economy. Ultimately, the West got what it originally wanted, which was the end of the shogunate, and to turn the emperor into a super-capitalist ruling family, like the British aristocracy.
@@TheMeJustMe75 No, but that is essentially what happened IRL. The US were involved heavily, especially financially but also militarily. A few years later, the same divisions of US soldiers would be sent to "exterminate" the boxer rebels in China.
The Nioh games are definitely the best on the list for gameplay. Nothing comes close. Way of the Samurai is the best in terms of narrative choice and freedom. Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro are too restrictive in gameplay for me. Whereas Nioh and Way of the Samurai allow you to use other weapons Samurai used such as spears, Odachis etc, Ghost and Sekiro just have you using a katana so none of them really offer the true Samurai experience.
You can instantly tell it was a Western developer behind Ghost because they only care about graphics, psuedo-realism and creating ugly characters rather than actually making a fun game with good combat.

You can get different outfits which have different effects, for example some may give you more damage, etc. You can upgrade these outfits to make the effects better (so if we're sticking with the more damage, if you upgrade it it'll give you an extra damage boost), you can get different "hats" (these have no effects, only the armor has effects), and you can get masks (which like hats do nothing but look cool), there are also dyes to change the colours of some outfits you can get, and there are mods if you play on pc that change the look of the dyes as-well so you can get colours that modders put into the game instead of one of the dyes basically. And there are mods to make Jin (the character you play) look better too. But other than that, no not really. You can upgrade the outfits you can get as-well and it'll change the look of the armor, but you can actually use whatever upgraded version of the armor you want (so for example level 1 might look better than level 4 to you, so you CAN use the level 1 look but still have the level 4 stats)

AC Shadow will not change this list even with the development coast greater than every single samurai games that were released combined before that game.
I skipped through the whole video just to see that every samurai game on the list features the methodical beating of enemies with a metal stick. Ghost Runner ftw.
Do you know what are similar for every western Samurai games? They all have wrong placement of katana sheath( always on the left side ) while in reality it was supposed to be on the right side, it doesn't matter if you're left handed or not because you're using both hands to wield katana
Samurais are taught only as right-handed. Both hands have different purpose while wielding a katana, right one (placed higher) controls the direction of a cut, the left one (placed lower) controls the power of a cut. It is basically a lever system.
When he said "William and Hyde," for a moment I was confused. Who the hell was Hyde? Since when was there a Hyde in the game? Then it suddenly hit me....oh Hide! It's pronounced "He - day (2 syllables)" ffs.
I like how ghost is a 4 year game going to be five years old now. And rise of the Ronan had that much time to be perfected. But the graphics are like playing a ps3 game
Ghost of Tsushima finally isn`t Playstation exclusive anymore scince the realease of its PC version in May 2024. See the comment in the video "another Playstation exclusive game ..." to introduce the second game after Ghost of Tsushima. Talking about samurais in video games and as a huge fan of entertaining melee combat I like the fact that I can play a samurai with a one-handed katana or one katana in each hand in Elden Ring as only an example for this special aspect.
Äum... You are aware that Nioh 1 started its creation BEFORE dark souls, right? Sure, dark souls released a bit earlier but... Also, the creators of Nioh also did the Ninja Gaiden games, which is what what dark souls and nioh ACTUALLY takes a lot from..
I thought Like a Dragon Ishin and Rise of The Ronin shared Historical events ? That both of their stories were inspired by the same Historical Context ? With the arriving Of European Ships and Japan opening to the world ? I did play Ishin last year and was waiting for a sale to buy Rise Of The Ronin even though i am not the biggest Japanese culture enthusiast 😊 ( Still, Yakuza is one of my favourite serie in Gaming and Yakuza 0/Like a Dragon are beyond my favourites games ever ). I am not very attached to Graphics so i wont be as critic as many have been even though i completely concieve the idea that, as a Playstation 5 exclusive, this Game Should look better than Ps4 titles ( but Playstation 4 was/is amazing with its graphics still, GOT or Rdr 2 alone proves it very much ).
Lol nope. They're both lacking in terms of RPG elements and in terms of gameplay with combat variety and weapons. For that reason, Nioh is the best. Samurai don't just use katanas bro.
@@Bobby-dq6jf Exactly. Actually, the main weapon of samurai is spear and bow. But I agree Nioh is waaay (of the samurai) better than Ghost of Tsushima.
@@Bobby-dq6jf GOT isn't supposed to have a bunch of RPG elements, I'm pretty sure it's mostly supposed to be a story-game (I could be wrong, but that is what it feels like). You can also use bows in GOT, and even a blow-dart with different poisons that have different effects. I agree that possibly having different weapons would make the game better though, but I guess it was just a story thing that most clans used katana's, but there are enemies and other npcs in the game that use weapons like nagintas (or however you spell that) and spears and things too. The combat is decent to be fair, yeah it isn't flashy like an RPG game, it's more realistic, which makes it better in my opinion. But that is down to preference. Sekiro surely isn't lacking in RPG elements, I haven't played it (because it looks god awful), it has none-human enemies and bosses, has combat effects like weird ass flashy effects when attacking, idek. Plus the game doesn't even look great, I don't know how people compare it to GOT because it is nothing alike lol.
i started with another crabs treasure and moved onto sekiro, well thats not true i played sekiro before ACT and couldnt get past the first mini boss. i beat another crabs treasure and tried sekiro again and i actually got pretty far until the boss on the horse took me a good 100 tries to until i said screw this and searched up a youtube video on how to beat him.

Way of the samurai
Samurai Warriors
Nobunaga's Ambition
kids these days dont even know about bushido blade
Damn. That was something.
AC Shadow will not change this list even with the development coast greater than every single samurai games that were released combined before that game.
no Way of the Samurai series? Katana Zero is not even a samurai games. Just because the game has katana does not mean it is samurai theme
and sekiro was released first since Ghost of Tsushima but it says it has similar combat
No Onimusha? Those games are amazing.
ghost of tsushina its not only the the best samurai game it is THE best game ever
Can't believe Second Samurai on the c64 isn't mentioned 😅
Imagine a current day way of the samurai. I wish
you miss one of the best samurai game, which is "Way of The Samurai" all the series from the game was absolutely best of the best samurai game......
I skipped through the whole video just to see that every samurai game on the list features the methodical beating of enemies with a metal stick. Ghost Runner ftw.
Do you know what are similar for every western Samurai games? They all have wrong placement of katana sheath( always on the left side ) while in reality it was supposed to be on the right side, it doesn't matter if you're left handed or not because you're using both hands to wield katana
you are not correct
Samurais are taught only as right-handed. Both hands have different purpose while wielding a katana, right one (placed higher) controls the direction of a cut, the left one (placed lower) controls the power of a cut. It is basically a lever system.
they should remake the tenchu
Tenchu wrath of heaven was sick
Great video, but no Onimusha?! 😮
No Tenchu: Stealth Assassins ?!
Jangan lupakan juga... WAY of THE SAMURAY 4 (ps3) itu juga yang terbaik
Way of the samurai beats all of these games by a mile
No Shadow Fight 2/3? Otherwise, good video.
ah yes, playing as my favourite character in ni-oh "hide" of the goseek clan
Best Samurai game is Samurai Warriors 2
Ghost of tsumima 🎉in one word
best ever 🎉
What about dmc using vergil with yamato only?
I'd like to say that your pronunciation of Japanese words is pretty good 😁
Samurai Warriors is good as well
I can't believe there is no place for Onimusha... Onimusha 1, 2 , 3, and Dawn of dreams , are better , than 5 games from this list...
waiting for rise of the ronin to come to PC then i can give fair assessment and comparion to tsushima
Упомянуть все игры, где есть в названии Самурай или что-то об этом напоминающее, и не вспомнить серию WoS, да и не только ее.
And the winner is.......
Sekiro!
Äum... You are aware that Nioh 1 started its creation BEFORE dark souls, right? Sure, dark souls released a bit earlier but...
Also, the creators of Nioh also did the Ninja Gaiden games, which is what what dark souls and nioh ACTUALLY takes a lot from..
way of the samurai should be Numbah 1
Genji: Dawn of the Samurai
I liked rise of the ronin a lot too
I thought Like a Dragon Ishin and Rise of The Ronin shared Historical events ?
Sengoku dynasty is also very good.
The hell you keen the art style off the nioh series isn't appealingig looks brilliant especially give the yokai/ayakashi that are the main focus
Uhm guys you can play sekiro and ghost of tsushima only and it will be enough, these games are cool af
Want joint me Play GoT Legend ? with Moon cancel also Draw/Reload speed Hunter ❤ 😂😂
Waiting for Ghost of yotei
i started with another crabs treasure and moved onto sekiro, well thats not true i played sekiro before ACT and couldnt get past the first mini boss. i beat another crabs treasure and tried sekiro again and i actually got pretty far until the boss on the horse took me a good 100 tries to until i said screw this and searched up a youtube video on how to beat him.
Clearly you missed tenchu legendary game which everyone gets inspiration from
