Great video. I am carving a trophy yellow perch right now. I almost made my fins all strait with no waves in them. I`m glad I saw a video of a guy doing a trout. He put action and life in the fish by carving in waves in the fins. That drum is huge and with that much work I would want it to look like it was swimming or chasing bait. Good stuff. Thanks for the video. Cheers from Canada.
Thanks, I had fun making a body and painting it for a plastic head I bought on EBay. I have a pattern book I bought years ago by a man named Ed Walicki who has past on now, but he taught how to bend and carve undulations into fins and show movement in his carvings. I've made a few carvings like that myself. This one is fine for what I wanted it for. Happy carving. :)
Thanks, wood carving is just a hobby for me. I have sold a few carvings in the past. As a rule of thumb I charged $10 an inch measuring the length of the fish. The length of the fish in this video is 48 inches. The only reason I made it that big was to make a body for a casted head I bought on EBay some years ago. It was a fun project. Now days I make ukuleles for fun in my retirement. They're more of a functional art form than figurines, but both are fun to do.
holy smokes incredible work, I'd loveeee to see more detail on how you do scales
Thanks

That was amazing, how much would something like this cost?
