MCT wasn't bad. Did mine at Camp Pendleton in '02. We were the last cycle to only have to do 17 days. I wouldn't quite say we had a weekend. It was more like we had a few hours on Saturday after getting back from the field, and most of Sunday to f off around base. Flew in the day before and was in the same hotel as some buddies from boot camp. Just chilled and drank some beers and reported to the USO at the airport in San Diego the next day. MCT is like boot camp light lol

I just got out of mct about a week and a half ago and as far as the heaters go you are absolutely right I'd use one in the morning to warm my hands during chow and I'd save the others for either later in the morning before the sun came up or I'd use one at night when I'm trying to sleep I'd put it between my bivvy sack and sleeping bag worked like a charm
These stuff might applies for the marines in the east coast but i recently graduated from west MCT and we were not allowed to keep any snacks from our MREs unless you're sneaky with it and you dont get liberty until the last weekend so..
Don't forget to sell your fire watch, or continue to stand watch for a those boots who don't come back off of liberty. Charge them for standing there watch or turn their ass in for deflection of duty. I made a killing at MCT . SGT Grier made sure all those Marines paid up too. Had charge sheets ready for all Marines who didn't lol.I learned the ropes by being set to my MOS school first. MCT after MOS school as a relad. MCT mass consumption of tobacco lol.

I'm about to go MCT. I have several papers ordering me to not get a hotel should I arrive early. Who knows why, but it's not a good idea to start your career off by going against an order.
honestly, don't report early if you can at all help it. that's how i got suck in camp guard for two months. Your report date is your report date, you don't get brownie points for coming early. Get a hotel if you feel like it, or split the room with another Marine from your boot camp rotation. Enjoy a little freedom before it's back to the grind.

Not really since you're technically now a Marine, but that doesn't mean that your instructors treat you like a peer or anything. I guess you could say that you get treated as a human during MCT but kind of like a child who needs to be told what to do.

All non-03 (non-infantry) go to MCT, grunts go to SOI or School of Infantry instead where they spend more time and go into greater detail on how to be a grunt. MCT is basically the Cliff Notes version of SoI and you learn a little bit more beyond what you get taught in boot camp about being a grunt.

This is MCT which is after boot camp, at this point you're considered a Marine (if largely untrained) and you'll have regular access to cash now.
