I have to have music or something in the background in order to focus on my book bc of my ADHD-- if I'm understimulated while reading it is very hard for me to focus and stay still. Which I guess is why I can easily read with noise and people around me.
Reagan: I take care of my books very well Also Reagan: 90% of my books are stained with flaming hot cheetos or coffee No shade, I just found it funny lol
I am really affinity with your nature of avoiding the distraction of noises occurring outside of your reading. I wish I had the capability to do the same thing. It's such a despairing feeling to not be able to avoid all the distracting sounds while reading, when I do experience such distractions while reading; I either move to a quieter area where its noises or wait to read until all those distractions sounds are gone away. Thanks for making this helpful video for giving others an insight on how they could possibly get through reading their books. Reading at least a chapter or two per day can feel like such an accomplishing feeling!
I used to read the last sentence of the book first, mostly because it would happen by accident whenever I was going to check the page number and it became a sort of ritual for me. For most of the times it was harmless because the last sentence doesn't usually reveal much... That is, until I read Catching Fire 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I totaly relate to the "use whatever for bookmarks". I use whatever is handy, other books, my phone, a spoon... I do have some bookmarks, but I seldom use them.
I used to be SO serious about refusing to stop reading unless it's the end of a chapter for some reason. It's gotten a lot better now but I still prefer it by far
Does anybody else do this: When you hit a boring part in a book, you read a little bit a head just so you'll get curios of why something is happening and then continue reading?
When I read I don’t use a bookmark and I just try and remember what page I’m on. I’ll wake up the next day and forget then I spend ten minutes looking for my place again
Thank you for making tons of videos for everyone to watch. It has made this time better. I eat with the books that I own but not books that I get from other places.
I always have a fiction book and a nonfiction book in rotation. I read the nonfiction book whenever I have small amounts of idle time like a break at work, waiting for my food to heat up in the microwave or oven, a few minutes before going to bed, etc. Whenever I get into a reading slump, I'll put down my fiction book, but continue with my nonfiction book.
I'm so happy you made this video, but very saddened about the loss of your bookmark! I've collected them since the 5th grade. I can imagine to have been so attached to one, then have it lost forever!!💔 Again, thanks for all the insight. Take Care!
I have a lot of fun sounding out a line in the accent given. Like the first time I read Harry Potter I said all of Hagrids lines out loud because I loved the way it sounded. Even written down.
I've come to admit. that idk what a bookmark is 😂 I use my glasses. headbands. hair ties. pens and pencils. the dust jacket (the inside flap yes but also the entire jacket). socks. dog leashes. just to name a few 😂😂
I am really bad about not finishing books. I get almost through them and lose interest or something. I got 850 pages through a Stephen king book and now it’s been sitting on my nightstand for months with just a few pages left. Also HATE paperbacks and always crack the spine and fold over the cover. I could read in a tornado, I grew up with five siblings and you either learn to tune it out or go insane. I love to eat sunflower seeds while I read. And I can stop reading whenever...mid sentence even. If I’m done, I’m done haha. This was such a fun video to watch!
Hahaha! I’m in one of those relationships! My partner enjoys me reading to him, but I’m not a fan of being read to though, so I get you. The annoying thing about reading to my partner is that he’s so rarely in the mood to read that it takes *months* to read a book. Soooo long! But when we do finish one, it’s so satisfying. 😁
I have dreams of having a library as well! I live in the midwest and have a BEAUTIFUL view of my backyard. We are converting part of our basement to a library here soon and I'm extremely excited. I love bookmarks as well! I actually purchased a few off amazon - and I loose them (or if they are dangly my cats enjoy to play with them.) I cannot dog ear my pages - it messes me up completely lol.
I absolutely feel you on the reading out loud thing! I love audiobooks but if from the preview I'm anywhere close to unsure of the narrator it's a no from me
Hi I’m a big fan of your videos and I was wondering if you would consider making a spoiler full discussion of the keeper of the lost cites series. It’s one of my favourites and I loved watching your reading vlogs as you read them. Love you and your videos!
I typically use a bookmark but my cat loves to play with the string and takes it out (when she doesn't sit on the book while playing with it, she fails at removing it from the book) without me knowing so sometimes I'm at work reading without a bookmark so usually a piece of paper or dog ear will suffice! And I also eat and drink while reading my own books! It;s so nice.
This is a fun tag, I did it recently and it does feel like an interrogation haha. I have dreams of having a home library as well! My friend has one and I love going over and hanging out over there ( well when we aren't on lockdown)... The only time I read out loud is to my kids. I am currently reading Harry Potter to them and it has been fun!
I dont like that I do this, but if there's a particular character or relationship I'm interested in in a book I sometimes scan ahead to see when their name is going to pop up again. I don't read the interaction. It's just to satisfy my curiosity
I never used a bookmark before but after getting some in subscription boxes I started. Now I have them standing in a cute Honeydukes mug in my bookshelf. Lovely decoration to the shelf if I say so. Since I´m a fellow read on the train person I have to ask, have you ever forgotten to go off at a stop thanks to it?
I loved this tag! I feel like our reading habits are very similar. I constantly lose bookmarks *facepalm*. I love listening to like ambient music while reading. I can read just about anywhere too (:
I've been using my boss's business card as a bookmark for a year. It's the perfect size, so now I try to exclusively use business cards. Before that, I used folded post-it notes. The only time I can recall skipping a couple of pages of a book was when I read a book that had some pretty graphic violence against an animal and I couldn't handle that particular section. I can stop pretty much anywhere and read a few books at a time, though actually finishing chapters is ideal.
Hahahahaha! I can relate so much to the bookmark story. I had this beautiful botanic garden bookmark I used for years and I LOST IT! And someone from the library told me they found it and said how beautiful it was and I went to pick it up and it had GONE. Now I dog ear, use random pieces of paper.... bend books back. I've turned god awful
I agree, I have to stop at the end of a chapter. I don't care how tired I am, I will finish the chapter!😂 I think I'm the only person who does this, I will break the spine. I need the book to be open fully.
I mouth the words when I am reading, not sure if I still do this now, but in college, my classmate saw doing that and she said that it was like I was summoning something. lol I also like to finish a chapter when reading because before when I finish in the middle of a chapter, I get confused when I get back to reading. Especially when I am reading multiple books.
I eat and drink while I read, but try VERY hard not to get it on the pages 😂 I also listen to audiobooks during work and read physical books when I'm not working... But sometimes the audiobook is just too good and I finish that one instead 🤣 I use ANYTHING for a book as well, and before I would ever earmark a page I would rather remember what page I am on and close the book 😃💐
When I was younger if I was interested in purchasing a book I would read the first sentence and then the last sentence. I figured if I liked the way the story began and ended then I'd like the entire book.
Lol! So I'm the person that goes to the end of a book and reads like the last paragraph first. I don't know if it's an anxiety thing or what but I just need to know if the characters are gonna be ok before I get emotionally invested in them. Also it's fun for me to read and then go back to the beginning, read the book and figure out how they got there.
I make my own book marks because I lose them, but I like to made things so it’s fun making bookmarks. Back in high school, I lost them so much, then later found them because other people found them and used them. They all like my bookmarks, so when I kept losing them people were happy, and when I didn’t lose them, people asked me for my bookmark and I handed them right over because I was happy people liked them. My entire grade used the bookmarks I made.
I usually read between 5 or 7 books at a time, but yeah, mostly different genres. I think the least that I've read has been 4 books at a time, but this is a habit that I started at Uni for obvious reason and until this day, hasn't left me.
Depends I may be able to read with noise ect but there where times I couldn't. I used to read books with my mom we would read back and forth. I hardly ever read aloud to myself When I read on my own I have voices too.
I like to read multiple books at once, but only if they're in different enough genres - like a fantasy, contemporary and classic at once would be fine :)
I HAVE to have some sort of noise in the background, but not too loud. It cannot be music so I usually turn the TV on. MY brain gets too distracted if there isn't some sort of noise occupying a different part of my brain while I read. I also love bookmarks. I have so many. There are so many designs and types! Have to have them all.
I don't use bookmarks... Never have.. Because usually I recall last page/chapter I'm on... Also am pretty neat with my books because books are valuable treasures... 😃
I also often have two books at a time; like you, it's usually a fiction & a non fiction. Right now I'm only reading one at a time because I can only find one of my bookmarks, and I love bookmarks. They're not gone... they're just in an *ahem* safe place. How do you decide when or if to give up on a book? Do you give up on books, or do you force yourself to finish a book even if it's not working for you? I will skip the end if I'm hating the book & want to decide if it's worth it to continue. Do you have criteria for keeping vs giving away a book once you've read it? I have too little space to keep every book I've enjoyed. I write in books... it helps me remember things for reviews.

I have so many bookmarks everywhere that it’s hard to not use them 😂. I also don’t like stopping mid chapter, it usually confuses me when I start again. I prefer to listen to something while reading, I get bored doing just one thing usually which is why I find it hard to listen to audiobooks because i need to be doing something with my hands 🤦🏽♀️. So usually music, or youtube, even podcasts sometimes are great
I’m so jealous of people who can read with noise or people around them, I get distracted by literally everything lol
Lionel Hdez I can get distracted by anything but strangely it’s the opposite while I’m reading...
I easily get distracted by silence. I have to have some little noise or else I can't read
Taylah Burrell me too. I always have music playing when I’m reading because of that
I use my sound cancelling headphones. It really helps. No music of course.....
I have to have music or something in the background in order to focus on my book bc of my ADHD-- if I'm understimulated while reading it is very hard for me to focus and stay still. Which I guess is why I can easily read with noise and people around me.
You like to end on a whole number? Regan, every number in a book is a whole number 🤣🤣🤣. Whole numbers are basically numbers from 0 to infinity
Anmol Kaur hahah True
OKAY FAIR
Whole numbers is any number with no fractions or decimals. Ie whole
Reagan: I take care of my books very well
Also Reagan: 90% of my books are stained with flaming hot cheetos or coffee
No shade, I just found it funny lol
I am really affinity with your nature of avoiding the distraction of noises occurring outside of your reading. I wish I had the capability to do the same thing. I do the saaaaame
I accidentally did this with Sadie... I was mad at myself the entire time I read the book 😂
I used to read the last page, specially during mystery novels. And I used to guess what might have happened. It used to be a game for me.
Ana Rocha I used t do this too but that was when I was young. Now that I think about it, I don’t know why I did it.
omg same i actually stopped doing this because of catching fire because the last sentence spoiled the whole book
If I get really bored but the book has potential I'll read a bit of the end to see if it's interesting enough to justify finishing the book.
“I have my own voices.. (points to head)... thank you” 🤣
When I read I don’t use a bookmark and I just try and remember what page I’m on. I’ll wake up the next day and forget then I spend ten minutes looking for my place again
Livia Kamplain sorry this is completely random but we have the same name! 😂
I do that too, except most of the time I die remember the page numbers, for multiple books at the same time.
Livia Maria S yesss. I get called Olivia all the time. It’s nice to find someone who probably understands the struggle
chaotic energy
Livia Kamplain OMG yeah I totally relate, half my teachers call me Olivia 😂
Thank you for making tons of videos for everyone to watch. It has made this time better. I eat with the books that I own but not books that I get from other places.

with the reading out loud thing. This is a mood!!
I'm so happy you made this video, but very saddened about the loss of your bookmark! I've collected them since the 5th grade. I can imagine to have been so attached to one, then have it lost forever!!💔
Again, thanks for all the insight. Take Care!
One good thing to come from this quarinitine: I found your channel 💛 now I religiously watch every video
Welcome to the fam! :D
@@saramarx4604 I love it here! 💛
I’m the same, I can’t stop midsection while reading 😂
Where did you get that blouse?! 😍
I have a lot of fun sounding out a line in the accent given. Like the first time I read Harry Potter I said all of Hagrids lines out loud because I loved the way it sounded. Even written down.
I relate so much to the bookmark situation! Random pieces of paper have become my friend. I aspire to someday become a bookmark person!
I like staring at my books when I’m not reading. For a really long time... and do nothing.
Your shirt is beautiful! I always love seeing your outfits because they are always so beautiful!
I don’t know why but I love to read on the floor, especially on the floor of my balcony
I've come to admit. that idk what a bookmark is 😂 I use my glasses. headbands. hair ties. pens and pencils. the dust jacket (the inside flap yes but also the entire jacket). socks. dog leashes. just to name a few 😂😂
I fold the pages, the ultimate sin 😂
I just know what page I left on. Not memorizing the page number so much. It’s just like, I know.
Yess I love bringing back the book tags! And this is one of my favourites 🧡
I am really bad about not finishing books. I get almost through them and lose interest or something. I love tags like this because it feels like we get to test how well we know you, I definitely knew you had hot cheeto dust in many books😂😂🤩🤩
You should look up bookjigs from Amazon, they are clip on ribbons, so convenient! And I NEED that shirt.
I do the same with my bookmark! I've been using the same one for over 6 years and just thinking about losing it makes me want to cry.
I totally agree with you about reading aloud and audio book!
When you do a tag. Could you put the questions and such in your description? 🥺🙏
13/10 jealous of your reading focus!💜

That dress looks SO beautiful on you!
Your rant about not wanting to be read too....I felt that lol
would love a tour of your books behind you (Book collection video)
Loved this tag the questions were all interesting! 💛
I read somewhere that a librarian found a slice of bacon being used as a bookmark. 😂❤️👍
Diane C hope it was cooked!
@@robyn8221 Nope🤣
Lmao that's great
The fact that I can relate to all of her answers...

My Goodreads "Currently Reading" list would STRESS you out right now lol
When I was a kid I would read the last page of a mystery book, so I could see if I could solve it while reading it. I now realize that’s cheating.
I loved this tag! I feel like our reading habits are very similar. I constantly lose bookmarks *facepalm*. I love listening to like ambient music while reading. I can read just about anywhere too (:

I once used another book as a bookmark lol
I like to use receipts as bookmarks. I always have several on me so it works in a pinch. 😊😂
Where is your dress from?? Oh my gosh it is BEAUTIFUL.
Love the yellow flowers! When you’re in the mood for a fun romcom pick up Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey WOW! It’s HOT! 🔥
Your outfit in this video is a Look. I can't describe what Look it is, but it's a Look.
Agreed!

Losing a beautiful bookmark is one of my fears :( that’s why I just use a random piece of paper as a bookmark!

I always read on the bus and read during commercials
Would you please add the original link ..🥰
My bookmark tends to be a Starbuck business cards i have a small coffee can were i keep pens change and a couple of cards
At present, I'm reading Jane Eyre and Red Rising... no overlap! 😂
My mom picks up a book, opens it to the middle and starts reading😫 it drives me crazy!
Savi Spice my mom does that too! Lol
Feels with mass market paperbacks. Unfortunately in Australia, they are the standard 😫
I can’t eat while reading!! I’ve never particularly enjoyed it haha but I do like to have a drink like water or tea
0:46 Regan be like: I can read in the bathtub, on the roof, on the toilet, hanging from the ceiling, in the washer...
wait does anyone else read out loud to themselves? everyone always thinks it's funny cause I always do
Lol my books get stained sometimes too 🙈📚🍿 reading makes me hungry 😂.

you're like the guy from time enough at last!
