    Amazing work man! 90s cars are more difficult to convert than something from the 80s, you sure do have some balls.

    First video I see of a Toyotca celica concervision😎, been planning on doing it to my 1991 gt (2.2l)and wanted to ask what donor would be the best to get for the swap? since some trans wont fit on some engines.

    How long did this take you? Got a coupe SX auto that I want to manual swap to at around 5k (AUD) but wondering if it's worth looking for a manual instead.

    I have a 91 and a 90 myself, would I need to take the engine out? or can I just drop the transmission? they both have the 2.2l

    Hey man nice work, I’ve been wanting to do this to my 92 GT for years! Would you be able to give me a list of parts to acquire off a donor celica?

    • @NickyChicks
      @NickyChicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, thanks! As far as I remember, the transmission itself, shifter with cables, clutch and brake pedals, clutch (the clutch line doesn't have to be from celica, any will fit), engine wiring and manual ecu. (Although I guess you can leave old wiring and trick the auto ecu somehow to make it believe it's always in neutral, but I had all of that so I didn't play with it)

    I have a ST celica. Could I use the 5 spd trans off of the 1.6 on the 2.2 motor? Great video btw🤘

    • @NickyChicks
      @NickyChicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! About the transmissions, I am pretty sure it's impossible, as the 1.6 liter engine and 2.2 liter engines are from different families (A and S). The bolts on the engine block won't match. Besides 5s engine (2.2l) is placed under the angle whereas 4a is sitting straight. That also makes the difference in transmission placement.

    I am thinking of adding AWD to mine, do you know if a same era RAV4 AWD case could work, as far as I can tell, it’s attached to the drive shaft outlet on one side of the transmission

      I am afraid I don't know anything about that...

    I’ve got a 1990 and a 1992 celica both st one is beat to the ground but has a good engine and a good manual transmission the 92 I’ve got also being an st is in mint body condition but the engine and trans are toast I plan on swapping over the engine and trans from the manual one to the automatic one. I was wondering if I have to make any changes to where the gear selector was on the automatic one so that the shifter for the manual could fit? And did you have to change the axles due to the new transmission or not please get back to me.

    • @NickyChicks
      @NickyChicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You've got a perfect set up for the swap! I didn't have any problems with the axels - the did fit perfectly, so I even kept the ones from the automatic in case I will need the replacement. Shifter will also fit perfectly fine in the same place with the same bolts, the firewall already has premade holes for the manual shifter cables (they are just plugged with the rubber caps). So you'll just use these plugs to shut the holes from the automatic transmission cables. The only thing Toyota engineers didn't plan about someone wanting to swap transmission is clutch pedal - there's no hole in the firewall, so you'll need to measure where it is on the manual car - and drill the same holes in the automatic one. After that move the pedals (including the brake one, it's easy). Also be ready to work with wiring cause Manual engine wiring and Automatic wiring have slightly different plugs connecting it to the inside wiring, so I had to play with it a little.

      @@NickyChicks would you recommend swapping over the whole wiring harness along with the ECU obviously what exactly do you mean with the wiring like are the plugs just different and could I just cut and replace the plugs with ones that fit?

  • @zach1221ful

    Im horrible when it come to electrics. As far as wiring, how difficult was it? Id imagin theres different wiring for a manual transmission...
    I have a 93 st that my grandfather in-law gave me, i love everything about it except that its an automatic...

      @NickyChicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are wiring diagrams on the internet for these cars, so it should be too bad :)

    Any tips on how to do this? I just bought a 92’ Celica and want to manual swap it and then turbo it. I have NO idea where to start.

    • @NickyChicks
      @NickyChicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      start with finding the donor :) I bought the manual celica with bad engine for $400. I had to take clutch pedal, clutch lines, shifter with cables and of course the transmission with engine mounts from it.

    Hey man it’s me again I don’t know if you’ve had any headlight issues but I was changing my headlight then I accidentó y closed the headlight while the bulb was out and squished it so it never closed all the way and I opened up the headlight again to get the bulb out and now neither of the headlights flip up but the right one still turns up just doesn’t flip up I need help please get back at me

    • @NickyChicks
      @NickyChicks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, well, I can't say for sure but I believe It has to do with something inside of the headlight motor. I took one apart once and saw couple of round electric contacts (when the headlight moves it touches different parts of those contacts and kind of knows in what position it is in currently and when to stop) try to take one apart and check if those contacts are still fine...
