Very informative teaching. Tony, you're a great musical genius. Your approach will encourage people to learn and understand more of "how to play" musical instruments.
Thank you for the tutorial! I really like this song and wanted to learn how to play it, you also cleared a lot of things that i didnt understand. I can tell this tutorial isn't for beginners, but even myself could learn the song too. Thanks for the sheet music too 😊
Excellent tutorial with just the right amount of elaboration. Thanks a lot! If you could do a tutorial of Triste or Nica's dream I would be so grateful.
I was gonna request the one !! So glad I found lead sheet and your tutorial on the one !!! I remember learning this in my youth. So nice I found this ♥️😊
Good point about location of extensions. The lower they are, the more subtle they are. E.g.. The left hand can play EGABbC..That is basically a a C6 with an b7. Conversely it a C7 with a 6 (13). Also there can be very instantaneous chords..arpeggios like C6 and C7 with the Root, 3 and b7(minor 7 note)(All necessary for dominant chords). Making a C base or having a bass player play the C bass and playing the right hand chord C13. ( Bb E A) is very recognizable. The bass Bb is below the middle C. I like to play this 13 down in 1/2 steps.. Continuously changing the bass down a few octaves is amazing. C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb B E A D G C. (.CIRCLE OF 5THS) Every other time the bass becomes. a #9. E.g.. F bass with B 13 (A. D# (G#) G# is the. # 9 or b3 of the F scale. F G A Bb.C D E F (G)...Easier to.do than explain. Texting. Learned this from my.jazz piano teacher about 15 years ago. .
Thank you for this tutorial. I thought you'd done one on Desafinado but I can't find it... Would you have time to post some hints ? Ps with rootless voicings if possible...
Sounds kinda like Barry Harris voicings. I’m not too familiar so hopefully I give correct info. It sounds like he’s going down diatonically on a bebop scale. If u play root position c6(c e g a), then go up diatonically on the bebop scale u get b dim 6(d f ab b). If u go up diatonically on the bebop scale again ur back to an inversion of c6. If u go up again u get b dim 6. Notice how the two chords alternate if going up diatonically. That’s kind of what it sounds like he’s doing, but downwards.

I’m in awe of musicians. You guys speak a completely different language than us non-playing peasants! Diminished, sustained, root, etc. Amazing!
All I could say is WOW! Thank you for sharing.

Rachel Thomas coming soon, thanks for the suggestion
Hey Tony, how did you harmonize that run at 9:45? I struggle knowing how to make those descending/ascending block chord runs sound harmonically good.
I dont know but I'll try to address it in a future video

Actually to correct myself in this kind of context you would call it a g7(flat 9) instead of b dim 7
I like how he doesn't adhere to the /slash chord inversions on the chart. realbook is a mere reference
Mao esquerda precisa detalhar as notas pf
dear Sir, show us Chega de saudade !!!
coming up next!
