Thank you so much. Your Jazz Chorus videos have been incredibly valuable in helping me determine that this is an amp I'd love to have... I think I may choose the 22 over the 40 and 120. For its price, this amp seems unbeatable. World class sound.

The 40 definitely sounds a lot better though. Maybe it's because of the wider speakers. It just has more space to it.

So many reviewers test pedals on boutique guitars into boutique amps. That is crazy. You could use your guitars to show how the JC22 handles different pedals. Show how the Wampler Belle, Nobels ODR Mini, or whatever interacts with the amp. You could become a resource for JC owners. Perhaps you could create a shorter video for each of the amps in the JC range. Some people only want to spend 5 or 10 minutes. You make high quality videos. Now, become the JC guru that you are.

Super lush and full chorus, ice pick cleans, really great pedal platform amps!Admittedly, the built-in OD isn’t all that great, but that can easily be solved with a pedal. They can also be found for PEANUTS on the used market, I was able to get mine in a trade for a Squier Jazz with aftermarket pups

This JC22 may be the amp for me. I was deciding between this and the JC40. I only play at home and will not play live at gigs. Will the JC40 be too much? I believe it’s best to be able to turn the volume up somewhat to open up the sound and I’m worried the JC40 won’t let me turn it past 1-2 inside the house. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Do you not find the background hiss of this amp a bit distracting? I bought one last week, and love most things about it, but it has a constant hiss that I find hard to ignore (I tried a noise reducer in the FX loop, because I thought the hiss might be from the pre amp, but no luck). I currently have the Yamaha THR10. In the video you talked about owning them before, and that you felt that you could hear the nuances of different guitars better (solid vs semi-hollow vs hollow) and that it wasn't possible with the THR10. I typically use the THR10 on the clean channel and I do feel like I can hear differences between strat / tele / 335-style, but would love to hear more about how you hear the THR10 vs the JC22.
You also said 'As a normal amp, this will work fine with looper pedals and that this is a feature that the Yamaha THR doesn't permit'. I think you're talking about the fact that the THR doesn't have a stereo input, right? So if you use stereo effects into a Yamaha THR, which has a mono input, it'll just sound like the notes are delayed?
Your video has gotten me interested in a JC22. I was also considering a Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb because I do like the sound of a Fender amp for the mid-scoop and John Mayer tones. It also has attenuation so you can play it at reasonable levels at home.
My impression from reading other reviews is that the Fender clean sound is a little warmer than the JC22. Did you consider the new Fender amps, or did you discount them because they are digital modeling? Fender says they're using a quad-core processor.
I do like the fact that the JC22 is just an analog solid-state amp, but I have heard that the sound can be more ice-picky than a Fender style amp.
Thanks for this nice demo! Great playing, love all the Boss pedals and effects!

Don't get me wrong about the THR, I collect japan made Yamahas so I did my best to make it work. But the fact is that THR is a 3rd amp, a spare one and the JC is a proper amp in the same price range. I own both '64 fender custom priceton an deluxe reverb. I tried their digital modeling amp, they are a toy to me, a bad sounding toy. A great solid state from fender is the old usa made Princeton 112. @@tvboxify I love clean tones and I could not resist to those 64 handwired. I cry every time I play them. Yes you can get a Fender sound with the JC but the feeling under the fingers is different. If I had to choose between my JC120 and my Princeton I'd keep the Roland but for the features not because is better. They are the best of both worlds. For straight guitar/amp combination there is no contest between Fender and Roland. But for everyday, nothing is a better allrounder than a Jazz Chorus. About THR vs JC is like 720p vs 4k. 720p is fine in most cases...but as long as you watch something in 4k you won't go back

I think I owned the first ever kingpin II that came to Italy when that Godwin was first released. I had in the past a roland jazz 120 from the first series, and the chorus of this one has nothing but nothing to do with it. that sounded fantastic. I sold it because it was too much for home now. this is not jazz chorus. yes it is but it doesn't sound like one

Hi Antonio, comparing a 22 to a 120 is a bit unfair, you have to judge the little one for what it is. And is surprisingly good in my opinion. Please subscribe

@@TheSpaceGuitar Hi, I'm not saying it sounds bad, but it doesn't sound like jazz chorus of those, not even the new 120 that I've tried sound not the same, the amp sounds good, but the chorus effect doesn't sound even remotely like the old ones. If I had to buy one at the moment I would buy this 22 since I only play at home and the rest of the economic difference would buy the original boss ce1 pedal for about 400 which is how the one on that amp sounded. ;)

In the comments you said that the 40 handles pedals better. What makes the 22 less pedal friendly? I’d like to use a big muff ram, delay, blues driver and a few other pedals for post punk/shoegaze type stuff. I’ve been considering the 22 for a few weeks now but I’m told that it’s not as “good” as the 40, as the 40 is basically a small 120, but the 22 isn’t a small 40. Also, is the 40 really louder than the 22 at low volume settings? I’ve been reading that the 40 is LOUD even at 2. Thanks!

IMHO the 40 handles pedals better because it never gets boomy, especially with OD and Dist boxes. The slightly lack of low end helps the amp at higher volumes and the bigger speakers and cabinet helps the amp to project the sound better than the 22. There is just a 10w difference between 22 and 40 but the volume on 2 on the latter is achieved with volume almost halfway with the 22. The little one is my go-to amp for everything so the fact that I consider the 40 better with pedals does not mean that the 22 is bad in any way. But as you can see in one of my videos after halfway the 6,5 speakers start to distort with HB equipped guitars so in the end is up to what you play and where. If you play T or S style guitar at home go for the 22, if you gig or play mostly LP style guitars with hi gain pedals go for the 40 that anyway is not louder than the average tube amp but has a very in your face sound attitude. @@TheSpaceGuitar I have a tele jazz (telecaster body, jazzmaster sound). I’m really looking for an amp that’ll sound good at low volumes, as I don’t want my wife to divorce me for the mime on the street. At first I was planning to purchase a Blues Jr but that thing gets loud around 2, and the tone suffers until you reach about 5. Solid state amps, from what I understand, sound pretty much the same at all volume levels. I was going to purchase the 40 until I heard that it gets much louder than 1 when you go to 2... it isn’t a gradual change, it’s drastic. Basically, I’m looking for an amp for a room that will allow me to play along to stuff like The Cure, Bauhaus , The Smiths and Slowdive.
