Sorry but if you decide to break the law, shoot at police and then you're killed then I feel sorry for the police officers involved. Is there ant wonder that there's so much disrespect for authority when you have senior officials siding with the criminal?

And the situation with the healthcare is scary, if I need any operations it can take so long that it becomes a health risk it itself. The criminal is someone's son, someone's loved one, yes, that may be true, what about the police officer that risks his life for a lousy paycheck, he has a family to. Like the police officer said, the man made a decision to be a criminal , therefor you risk getting injured along the way,. She wants to turn it around. You as a police officer should have known better etc.. uhuh. The criminal could also made another choice in life. Work for a living, raising a family, staying out of trouble. Law abiding citizens don't get shot by police officers. She has never been in any life threatening decisions, like Tony asked. In the last few years we are living in an upside world. The police is the one to be watched, and the criminal is the one who needs protection. Therefor crime is at an all time high. It's a very disturbing trend in Western countries.

  • @jonathanfoster1270

These police firearms incidents of course should be investigated but much more of the onus needs to be on the criminal suspect, they need to realise, they need to carefully comply with armed officers for instructions or they run the very real risk of being shot, for an armed officer to have to make split second life and death decisions, where to hesitate could mean his death is not the way to go. I want the police to do their job and the public to support them, it's the police not doing their job I can't tollerate

We need to get the 'Grievance Studies' graduates out of the Police FORCE, and restore it to what it used to be. Notice how this female senior police officer's first instinct is 'relativist': denying that there is 'right' and 'wrong'. From what is said here, she prefers to describe the shot criminal as "someone's son"; rather than a "wrong-un". Why is that? What kind of 'fast-track' educational indoctrinational pathway did she follow to get her qualifications? Perhaps she received 'training' from COMMON PURPOSE? This is the mentality which refuses to deal with Pakistani Muslim rape-gangs, and cannot define what a 'terrorist' is.

She is talking nonsense. A borough superintendent wouldn’t be the firearms incident commander. On the ground the OFC or Operational Firearms Commander would be running it and he/she would be the armed sergeant with the firearms team. Above him is an inspector - TFc or Tactical Firearms Commander. This is an unarmed officer but who has been specifically trained in the role and manages firearms incidents (spontaneous and planned) full time. Working alongside them will be a number of firearms tactical advisors who are experienced firearms officers who help with planning. Above him is the SFC or Strategic Firearms Commander. A superintendent, again unarmed, but specially trained in making decisions and assessing risk in relation to firearms incidents and it is ultimately the SFC who will authorise the deployment of armed officers or not. The TFC will then develop and set the tactics, the OFC will then implement it and run the team.
I’m not Tony’s biggest fan but she has never had to make any form of split second decision and has never been in a life or death situation and so has no right to sit there shaking her head and talking to him like that.

Yes because police get backlash from the courts and judges for doing their job. Their the ones responsible for making the police woke and not actually arresting and jailing people who should be jailed. Like the Rochdale grooming gangs. I said this for years if we had American police her for one week and had 5 huge prisons like El Salkvador have done, crime would go down by a good 85%ish, because there would be consequences for crime not like this, the police are useless, is security officers and Doorman are more protected than the police do prevent crime and we dont even have their powers. We still get backlash but more as a business than a government body.

Using a firearm on a suspect is the last resort and a resort that most likely will not be necessary in the majority of situations.
We are a country without firearms readily available, unlike the u.s.a , therefore strict scrutiny is required of the officers who use their firearm on suspects.
I've seen F.A.O patrolling the streets of Manchester with their weapon at the ready position, similar to soldiers patrolling in Afghanistan. This is ridiculous on every level and just highlights the type of authoritarian personality who wants to be a F.A.O.

Firearms may not be 'readily available', but believe it or not, bad guys do sometimes have them. Whether a real firearm, reactivated or converted one, or even a 3D printed one.
As for your mental image of patrolling techniques, overt patrols are usually where intelligence suggests a potential threat, like a terrorist attack.
Ever heard of Borough Market? If AFOs weren't patrolling a certain area, response times would be so much slower

People working in law enforcement are always between a rock and a hard place. Of course someone committing a crime is a human being. Nobody thinks otherwise 🤦‍♀️ but they make that leap into crime and will often be the reason for a dangerous situation. That is on them, not the police officer. I’m a bit tired of all this energy being put into an offender’s rights.

A police officer only has 1/2 a second to shoot or be shot.
In some cases the police officer has the option of getting cover, in which they can say why did you not take cover and allow a situation to mature.
Cover should always be used!!! This gives, space, time and perspective as well as protection for a favorable outcome.
The issue is that when police are involved in a chase. They no longer have cover. Therefore they are compelled to act with deadly force the movement they see a gun in the hand. This is also the case in close quarters. As soon as physical aggression is made towards the police, then its just a matter of time before shots will be fired.
Another miss conception. Police are public servants. I believe the real answer is NO. Police are the enforcement of the law. No matter who you are, when you are in a confrontation with police. You are effectively in a confrontation with the law. The law is unyielding, its nobodies servant. (Protect and serve a violent criminal, this woman is out of her mind)
Another miss conception. Police are not obliged to protect. They can chose not to intervein, this means choosing not to use guns.

Yes the gangs have guns and British terrorists usually use knives so the police would rather win a gunfight against a knife than risk being shot at. Unless its a mentally ill individual with an air rifle at 3am even then it's centre mass rather than the targets legs.

The publics perception of firearms officers has a lot to do with the way they conduct themselves. In the clips you have shown is the perfect example. They are all behaving like western gun slingers with pistols and ammo strapped to their thighs clasping their automatic rifles to their chests! then when they do go into action they are extremely assertive with the public who are not involved in any criminality! They appear to have no filter so they can distinguish the good from the bad! That attitude is widespread across the police in the UK when they are there to serve the people not to bully and intimidate!

    • @stevemariner6768
      @stevemariner6768 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Western gun slingers? This isn’t a personal choice, that is standard equipment for units that do rapid response work. They’re not trying to look a certain way, it’s about having equipment that allows you to do your job properly and respond to whatever situation they may face, be that armed criminals, terrorists or whatever.
When they “go into action” they’re extremely assertive because their job is aggressive, crowds act like sheep and need motivating to move sometimes to keep them safe. For the job they do aggressive people are actually desirable. Granted I’ve never been a firearms officer but I’ve done some similar stuff in the military. People need to realise that there are jobs within policing that require that type of attitude and a certain personality for it. The last thing Britain’s police forces should be doing now is bending the knee to even more minorities and snowflakes.
