I lived there for 15 years. Everything is Aussie this and Aussie that. They'll tell you it's the greatest place in the world and Aussie's are the best, etc., etc. Just quietly, if you know you're the best, you shouldn't need to talk about it. They like to promote the concept that they're totally easy-going, but the opposite is actually true. For a good-looking guy like you, you probably won't notice it, but Sydney can be a cold place. Nobody talks to, or even acknowledges people they don't know when out and about. If you try and strike up a conversation with someone at a store, or market, etc,..they tend to look distressed and often won't even look you in the eye. Sydney is pretty, but it's a rat-race. What is amazing, is it's a very 'walkable' city, with great historical points of interest everywhere. On the other hand, Melbourne is fantastic in every way and the people less guarded.

I’m from Sydney and after living in New York for the past 3 years I 100% agree with this, however the intent may not be as sinister as it seems. A lot of aussies are very shy and not great conversationalists by nature but once you get to know them they’re very funny, love banter, and value loyalty. Compared to Americans though Americans are definitely friendlier and more open.

@@Chunter060 Yes, I live in Canada near the border now and Western Canadians are similar to Sydneysiders - more cynical and guarded than Americans just over the border in Washington State. I agree though, I did work with some top people in Sydney over the years, once you earned their trust and the fact that I was within their established circle.

It definitely seems like a place where you hang out with the people you know! I lucked out and got introduced to a good group of friends early on who have made my experience here 100x better (they’re all from Perth ironically) I could probably name only 2 people I’ve met who are FROM Sydney. Wish you all the best, thanks for the input!! ❤

@@Geigez That’s very curious you say that, I actually grew up in Perth then moved to Sydney as soon as I was an adult so perhaps there’s a pattern to this temperament as compared to true born and raised Sydneysiders. Irregardless thank you for your videos and perspective, it’s nice to observe as a "trading places" fly on the wall 🙌

Take a train up to the central coast beaches, any walk takes 2 hours because all we do is talk to locals. And everyone says hi. Trouble with Sydney is there are lot of people that aren’t from Sydney! We’ve all moved out 😂
