I can't tell you how much I appreciate this channel. You're a great host, Scott. Feels like your an old friend having a conversation with each of us. thank you.
The shop is great and all the tools collected over some time. Your variety of skills is impressive but here is what I appreciate.....and has nothing to do with privilege of any kind ....is the dignity of hard work you remind me of ... determined to be skilled and honest. The foundation of a great nation. As a 67 year old life long carpenter, I cherish every laugh and every tear I have had and the time I have left to maybe pass this dignity forward .. believe it or not there are many millenials seeking this
Every time watch this man’s videos it makes me think “this guy is the reality of the person they were trying to sell us on ‘this old house’”. You are the real deal my friend. And I’m pleased to have stumbled upon your channel by accident via TH-cam. Thank you and keep it up, you’re a true inspiration
You're absolutely amazing in every aspect. You are a blessing to all of us on TH-cam! I know I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate everything you're doing to pass on a sliver of your monumental knowledge to all of us out here.
Let me chime in, and say no, thank you sir! I won't watch one of your videos until i am in that perfect frame of mind to absorb your content to The fullest of my ability. Anything less would be Disrespectful to you. Thank You some more!
Sir, I'm a underwater welder and now for the last two years elevator mechanic with Thyssenkrupp and just wanted to say I love these videos. It's what I watch to wind the day down, and I bet u remind many of us American Craftsmen of a Gramps of pops whom always knew the best way to do a job. Keep making, I'll keep watchin...
Absolutely wonderful. You are an amazing man, with an amazing amount of skill sets and knowledge. At 74, I thought I had learned a lot. But I'm still learning every time I watch one of your videos.
What you've put together there is what so many of us aspire to. Here's to your lifelong pursuit of doing things on your terms, taking an interest in new trades and diving in head first. You are fast becoming something of a role model for myself and I'm sure many many others who watch your videos.
I’ve been watching this mans videos for quite a while now. And this man has to be one of the most humble and down-to-earth men I’ve ever seen. He seems like the kind of guy that is from when the world was different, when it was simpler. The kind of guy you’d drink a cup of coffee on the porch with and listen to his tales of old Keep doing what you’re doing Scott. We all enjoy your content
Love that recliner. I'm 71 now, but I've been taking 15-20 minute power naps for most of my adult life. Start the day early - nap after lunch - work until dark thirty or later. Enjoyed the tour.
I'm a young man from N.Y. trying to find my place in the world, so seeing this treasure trove of tools and equipment (really all your videos)makes me so happy I'm not in a office for a job and gives me inspiration to become a student of many skills. Granted I'm an unemployed college student at the moment, but I have worked a few hard manual labor jobs and one sales job in the four years between graduating and going back; even in high school, I interned in an office and could tell it wasn't for me - so forestry... here I come!
Places like these are ideal for young boys to spend time working(playing) with tools and materials. It develops their brains because it forces them to innovate, improvise, and find alternative ways of solving problems. And let's not forget how it keeps them away from a lot of bad things.
I love that you talk about all aspects of the shop but mostly the sentimental value of how people gather and learn and borrow and return all in one place. Your kids are blessed!!! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱
This channel is the BALLS!!!!! Thanks for doing it. I learn so much. From a personal stand point, the things I find most valuable are your insights on how to get things done when you're working alone. The world is full of "three-handed jobs" and your tips have proved invaluable. Again, thanks!
Anyone else get that "feel good" thing going on when watching this channel ? As ever, a beautiful edit. very interesting, enviable and a good honest intent and message. Thank you once again : )
man i give my up-most respect. The fact that you actually find the time to share your knowledge for people like me is the mere definition of a true leader. Thank you!!
Ah, finally a TH-cam shop that looks like it's used for making stuff and not for surgery or other sterile activities. Work benches that look like real work benches and not coffee tables...Tools strewn about, but he knows where they all are...Dust, dirt, metal shavings, rust...This is a place you can work in.
Wow Scott ,,, I never find any of your excellent videos in the slightest way boring but this one resonates with me. Your man cave or shed as we call them here in Australia is nothing short of amazing. Back in 2009 I went to Cyprus to settle some family estate business for 3 weeks, when I returned I found to my horror that my darling wife had cleaned and re-arranged my shed whilst she never threw anything out I'm still finding stuff 10 years later, she's never set foot back here again.
You are an inspiration, good sir. I am a US Army Special Forces veteran and have spent a fair amount of time in the Hood River area. I'm a medic but all my engineers watch your channel for insight into building. Thank you for your fine videos.
Awesome tour, thank you. Also, it's GOOD to take naps when you've been working. There's nothing to be ashamed of for taking a restorative, regenerative nap. AND fifteen minutes is the ideal length, and it's best to do it daily/regularly. Every body is different but in general, power naps are GOOD.
Now that’s what I call a shop !!! What wonderful treasures and memories are in there. I love old tools !! I’ve been a carpenter for 40 plus years and now in my old age I start and stop my day in my shop. There are many days I just sit and recall many of my wonderful memories and people I have had the pleasure to work with. To us old timers, may the hammer never slip from our hands God Bless !!
I grew up in a construction family and really enjoy your videos. You remind me of my uncle Craig so much. His voice is always in my head when I am doing carpentry. "Boy...you better do that right or you will come back on the weekend and work for free until you learn how" His work ethic, attention to detail, and his job site management skills have taught me so much. Thanks for everything you do
The most impressive in this display is the brains of the man! He knows the story of each object and can remember the feel of each -- down to the teeth of that sculpted iron face, where the fingers seem to recognize each tooth.
Scott, I have been a fan of your channel for months now and have watched every video. You have truly built a life that values family and hard work and it is something that even just in these few months have made my life better. Thank you and your family for making these video, I can't wait to see what is coming down the pipeline. Regards
Many thoughts come to mind while watching that tour of your shop....all of them jealousy! It's nice to know there are people out there that still appreciate the old fuel burning double mantle coleman lanterns, thanks for sharing your beautiful collection. Take care my friend.
I enjoyed seeing this video, as it confirms that I'm not the only one that puts that much forethought into organizing my shop. Its comforting to see that there are others like me in this world.
Nobody does a better job of explaining things like essential craftsman. You sir are a great tradesman to watch. I've learned a lot watching your channel and trust your knowledge greatly. Keep up the great work!
You are like a favorite uncle that I never had! Thank you for your videos. Very informative, very inspiring. Especially the the video where you build a ramp.
Trove of knowledge and everything is a conversation starter in that building beautiful madness. I can't imagine how may thousands of projects have started and finished every tool has a story awesome
May your legacy be handed down for generations to come. Your example is a light to those of us that hope to turn the tide on the 'throw it out instead of fix it ' mentality. Continue to make things.
New viewer but a major fan. What a great teacher, mentor, and awesome giver to all who are wanting and willing to learn. Just starting on metal work and love learning from such a man. Sir, thanks much for sharing your knowledge with the public. God bless
I have watched this video at least 6 times and my sons have been shown it as well and there kids love it to, Vanishing America has been going on for quite some time, But there is hope for the skills that have been vanishing from our great country, Hope that lives in the shops, garages, and hearts of the American craftsman. Knowledge is a precis thing, Touch it feel it and pass it on. Greetings from New Mexico
I love the drill press at 6:39, I picked one up at an auction a few years ago for $4. It was in pretty bad shape but I took it all apart and restored it. Dad and I loved it so much that we wanted to put it on the wall in the dining room but mom didn't like that so much. So we had to wait until she went to Italy to put it on the wall.
The knowledge this man has is incredible. This guy knows a hard days work, that's for sure. I love the videos. I particularly like the videos on certain pieces of equipment and the tricks you can do with them and what it's used for. Thanks for sharing.
With a voice of a pastor, a man that sees the value of those in his life, I became really excited as you were describing the #1. I have to say that I was getting prepared for a powerful testimony.. Thank you for your videos
From the hints you have dropped in your videos, you and I live about 30 miles apart, I'm a bit north of you.. Love your videos! mostly because you are being yourself, don't change that please. Thank you for sharing..
Love it, love it, love it, found the channel months ago and thoroughly enjoy coming back time and time again. I'm a Scottish joiner and carpenter so love the content and the years of wisdom. Keep up the good work and God bless!!!
Sir, I completely enjoyed this video. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with all of us. I have watched most of your videos several times. Every time I do, I find another ah ha! I can use that information. Thank you for taking the time to pass it on.
Reminds me of my ten years as a journeyman mechanic in a copper mine processing plant. The boom crane and the welding table bring back interesting memories. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing us your shop. Never had the opportunity growing up to learn the various trades basic skills. I was in my late 30's when my friend at work shared his woodworking skills with me. I never mastered working on my own ....but i always enjoyed working in his shop/ man-cave.
Hi, that's the dream of anyone who loves tools, Im an argentinean living in Wales uk, my grandpa was a mechanic and Im a golf club greenkeeper that love them and welding too, that's how I discovered the channel . My small workshop is based in motorbikes now. Thanks for the videos, happy to subscribe to it. Gus
Nice shop! I just received today a keen, little blade, wrapped in a red tee shirt. I can't put it down. I have just now been stropping it for a few minutes to get a feel for the balance. I think it will do nicely. Please pass along my compliments to Mr. Cy, he is a master! Thank you both!
I loved to see the traps. Trapping played a very important role in my early life, and - I'm assuming, like you - though I realize I will probably never again use my traps, I could not imagine getting rid of them. Great shop video, thanks.
Thanks for the inspiration. I was thinking of you today, as I was replacing interior doors. Bought blank slabs and hand fitted for the hinges using butt gage and sharp chisel. Used hole saws to mount knobs and bolts. Trimmed for width and height with worm drive saw. Every time I picked up a tool, even a screwdriver, I was reminded of another of your videos. Not to sound weird, but your stuff is worth listening to 2 or 3 times, especially for those of us who have a casual acquaintance with tools.
Your channel and the content you provide is top notch sir! You are inspiring and a natural teacher! Please keep it coming! If it's possible I'd love to see some more anvil and blacksmithing videos, I have recently been bitten by coal and plan to build a forge! Thanks again!
Wow it just keeps going, I was getting lost but a well ordered work space and enough tools to keep me happy for 10 lifetimes. I also hit like as the video begins.
I have watched a lot of your posts and I just love them to pieces. Thank you for doing what you do, truly an inspiration to anyone who is willing to learn and expand the mind, body and soul.
Never sweeping is brilliant!! Love it. Your shop is something created over many years. Time and knowledge has laid out your shop perfectly. Would very much love to learn to forge something here.
I just got my very first pairs of White Ox gloves and I love them, they pretty much form to your hand. Thanks for the advice, trust me it goes a long way.
Since I dove myself into your collection of videos I always wondered why keeping the ground graveled whereas some areas are concreted. I now see and very informative. This channel is full of wisdom and valuable information. Thank you sir.
That was a wonderful 12 minutes of TH-cam watching. I am currently reorganising my workshop spaces and i have seen things you have done that I like the look of. Many thanks.
Sir I have to say that seeing one of your videos pop up just absolutely brightens my day. Seeing and listening to the passion that you have for your work and your willingness to inform and educate others is extremely admirable. I hope some day to have gained a fraction of the knowledge that you sir have. The upmost respect for you and all that you share with us. Thank you
The Coleman lantern collection is awesome!! As a kid, I was terrified of Colemans; I always thought they were ping to explode. I would make a wide berth around them at the campsite. Now I have bought a couple of them from the 60s and 70s and enjoy making them perform.
Hi Scott. A new subscriber, only just started watching your videos. 65 year old carpenter, been at it since I left school, still at it. Every now and then you need a bit of motivation and watching one of your videos does the trick. Cheers.
Thanks for the tour my friend. I too have a shop. Mine is similar to yours in that there is a little of everything in it. It is a place I feel privileged to have. And yes your right just about the most important thing in it is a chair! Thanks again. Cheers.
Love the shop and the way it has your unique mix of wood working, blacksmithing and general tools of life stored and ready for action. A man puts this kind of shop together through a lifetime of collecting and purchasing the tools he feels are necessity! Great video, love the channel and content you produce!!
Most Amazing complete Shop I’ve ever witnessed!!!! -I can’t help but let my mind reflect on what America was like around 1900’-into the 1950s. -Shops were abundant and Men could make or Repair anything back then. Parts of your shop Reminds me of a bit of few old Lumber Mill shops I worked around back in 70s. Thanks for the tour👍🇺🇸
The boxes of bees line got me good. That's an impressive shop with many hoarded and never to be used consumables. But, none the less, impressive and maybe even beautiful.
Hello Sir, I am a new watcher but already a big fan. If this whole Craftsman thing does not work out for you I think Dos Equis should hire you on the spot.
always need more room. thank you for shop tour. i have seen all your video's. a man and his tool's can never have to many. it is nice to have steel and lumber on hand always never know when need some. stay safe and GOD bless.
I have a similar crane at work. I use it to pick up the rear wheel and hub assemblies off of city buses and load them onto a drum lathe. I couldn't live without it.
Hey your channel is great. You Reminds me of how beautiful America is end can be. Simplicity and lots of hard work people. The pleasure of doing things for yourself and your family is simply tremendous. I loved your workshop. Idont have aplace of this size. Apparently you should live in Oregon In order to have such a workshop. Please continue broadcast we learn and enjoy.
I think watching the essential Craftsman has been one of the few things keeping me sane during some very trying times. You are absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. Also your editing is amazing.
Just found your TH-cam channel. What a unique blessing! I spent a couple of very pleasant evenings exploring your channel appreciating your craftsmanship. I am a huge fan of your content. Thank you for sharing your passions and interests with all of us. Your content is being presented with the craftsmanship that is evident in your other pursuits. Thank you again from a fellow Pacific Northwester 👍
The amount of time involved just to get the shop to its current state is breathtaking. All those 'little' projects ,mostly involving organizing stuff important to you, adds up. And yes boxes of bees, mostly from California, were the backbone of beekeeping for decades. Sure hope they were able to control the disease issues,as well as Africanized bee incursions. Lost track of that years ago. Cheers.
I'd like to see more of that pot rack with the copper hook... all your video's are worth more than the time it takes to watch one keep up the good work
2:27 "Built the table" This is one reason I watch this channel. Awesome.
As a 67 year old life long carpenter, I cherish every laugh and every tear I have had and the time I have left to maybe pass this dignity forward .. believe it or not there are many millenials seeking this
"They just sorta show up here". The word gets out among stray dogs of character. Thank you Scott.

As a woman who grew up in the shop with dad, I watched this with wide-eyed wonder!! What a collection!!!

I’ve been watching this mans videos for quite a while now. And this man has to be one of the most humble and down-to-earth men I’ve ever seen. He seems like the kind of guy that is from when the world was different, when it was simpler. The kind of guy you’d drink a cup of coffee on the porch with and listen to his tales of old
Keep doing what you’re doing Scott. We all enjoy your content
Love that recliner. I'm 71 now, but I've been taking 15-20 minute power naps for most of my adult life. Start the day early - nap after lunch - work until dark thirty or later. Enjoyed the tour.
The whistle is so unexpected. Grandkids must love that.

Some of the most genuine and valuable content on youtube comes from this channel.
That is a great space and the fact that you shared that space with your father makes it even more special
What a shop !!!
I love all the old tools and dies
They don't make em like that anymore sir
Thanks for a peak inside your world !!
Everytime I click on one of you're videos I learn something new. Thank you for sharing you're knowledge and time sir.
The granddaughter is precious!
ARRR ARRR ARRR
4:18 the whistle thingy was just hilarious in my opinion :D
YES! Exactly!
Reminds me of my grandfather's shop. A real workshop
Wow Scott ,,, I never find any of your excellent videos in the slightest way boring but this one resonates with me.
Your man cave or shed as we call them here in Australia is nothing short of amazing.

GENTLEMEN welcome back to the shop and today a treat e-spe-cial !

I grew up in a construction family and really enjoy your videos. You remind me of my uncle Craig so much. His voice is always in my head when I am doing carpentry.

Since I dove myself into your collection of videos I always wondered why keeping the ground graveled whereas some areas are concreted. I now see and very informative. This channel is full of wisdom and valuable information. Thank you sir.
Great video. Nice workshop, alot of planning & layout.
That was a wonderful 12 minutes of TH-cam watching. I am currently reorganising my workshop spaces and i have seen things you have done that I like the look of.
Many thanks.
I could happily loose myself in there for the rest of my days. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful workshop.
If this whole Craftsman thing does not work out for you I think Dos Equis should hire you on the spot.
ataylor lol indeed

Not everything he does requires craftsmanship, but everything he does is crafted!!!
Stay crafty my friend.
He is....the most interesting man.

Listening to you reminds me of my Grandfather when I was a kid being at his machine shop. I really enjoy your video.
always need more room. thank you for shop tour. i have seen all your video's. a man and his tool's can never have to many. it is nice to have steel and lumber on hand always never know when need some. stay safe and GOD bless.
Scott, I think your shop is like your head in that it is full of all sorts of interesting and useful things you've aquired over the years.
There is nothing better than taking a nap or hanging out with your tools.
Cheers.

I have recently seen that the bee population is coming back up, according to the studies.
I'd like to see more of that pot rack with the copper hook... all your video's are worth more than the time it takes to watch one keep up the good work
Even I, a computer scientist, find a joy in watching these awesome videos. Thanks!
Thanks Scott. Enjoyed your shop tour. Thanks for all the videos. Take care and God bless.
