- Make your own mermaid wand for summer. These wands made of shells and hot glue are so simple and easy, anyone can do it. Yes you too! These are so great for parties, wether it’s a kids birthday party, or a mermaid the,es bridal party or even a classy sea themed wedding. They are also great for those wanting a sea themed wand for their spiritual practice, costumes, cosplay, decor, etc.
Big girls would love those wands too. They are fabulous. 🧜♀🪄💙
thank you for sharing this.
Your wands are so pretty!
Thank you so much 😊
These are absolutely fabulous 🤩
Glad you like them!
I’m planning on using similar methods to make hair clips and maybe bracelets!
Perfect!
Oh my god they are so spectacular! You’re really creative and it totally inspired me. Thank you so much.❤❤❤❤
I sort of stumbled on your channel, when searching for polymer clay, with mixed media. I have many, many shells, n other lovely crafty things in my studio, so......thank you for sharing!! I will definitely be trying some of these! I have crystals too! Your wands are awesome!!!
thank you so much!
Black glue, why haven't I thought if that myself. Thank you if will make such a difference to my end product x
Those look amazing!
thanks so much!
Thank you for giving me all these ideas I love watching your videos
You are so welcome!
So pretty 😊
Nice wands. How do they handle? Are they comfortable to use? That creative wand-making kitchen is awesome!
It depends on what you use and how you place it. Some shells are kinda spiky and not the best for holding
So gorgeous! Thank you!✨
Thank you!
Beautiful!
thanks!
Stunning! Love these
Thank you! 😊
ooh these are gorgeous!
Thanks!
I've been practising on wand-making since watching your videos, and one thing I've really noticed is how easily your glue gun melts spirals into the glue. My glue gun is 40 watts and it absolutely will not do that no matter how long I let it get hot. What's the power rating of your glue gun? I'd really like to make a full staff/walking stick.
Yes! Its true. I have 4 glue guns 🤣. Two are regular type with low and high heat settings. The other two are heavy duty type. Surebonder i think is the brand. I have no idea the wattage but the package will say something about heavy duty projects. The trigger will be long.......I just checked and its 60 watt. My blue one is surebonder. I think you can get these at home depot. The other good one is Adtech brand. Pro80 high temp. It says nozzle heats to 380 feremhight. Only one setting so unplugging is how to get it to not be so scorching hot. Which can be a problem somtimes.
Thanks, looks like I'll have to upgrade. I might try seeing if my soldering iron might get hot enough to make spirals first, though.
@@NoJusticeNoPeace Did it worked with the soldering iron?
@@dario1740 No. It wasn't big enough and just made a huge mess. I ended up buying a dual-setting 40/80 watt glue gun, which does the trick nicely.
@@NoJusticeNoPeace Thanks!!
amazing!!! how did you find these materials
Beautiful!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Question: Where did you get the black glue? Or if you could mention the brand? I purchased some off of Amazon and it ruined 2 of my glue guns?? Thank you.
What kind of sealant/sealer should I use?
I often use a matte clear spray lacquer. But on ones with beads or shell down the shaft I paint on an acrylic matte medium by liqitex. Or nail polish if you can find the matte nail polish. Its more expensive toxic smelling and time consuming to use the nail polish. But its the strongest.
Love your wands. I make one with a chop stick but I feel it is a bit short. What lenght is the dull stick
they are 12 inch wooden dowels that are blunted at the end manually. i like 7mm at least for this length.
@@magicalcuriosities7062 thank you. Looking forward to seeing more tutorials
What kind of wooden dowel do u use ?
First of all, i absolutely love your videos! All of them are incredible and inspiring to a fantasy-loving geek like myself, but at the time of posting i noticed that you didn't have a icon for your channel or 'channel art', which is what the backdrop behind your icon is when you click on your channel. I would recommend putting images of some of your incredible crafts on there to draw in new people to your channel and overall making it look more professional!
Thank you!!! I'm not a big TH-cam watcher myself and so I maybe dont know all of what i should be doing here. Thank you so much for the tip!
Omg beautiful
Thank you
First shells were baby Scallop shells. Can't wait to make my first wand as in Tasmania we don't have Hobby Lobby or Michaels or any gem or Crystal shops that I can find so I've ordered all my things on line
Ah, thank you for the name. I need to learn my shell names before making a video about them 🤪🤣
The snail shellswith the thin point end and small spikes at the spiral...what are those called. I need to go get some of those exact ones for mine
I'm so sorry i dont know my shell names. hopefully maybe another viewer can help out here? anyone?
Cool sea wands can be for boys too
your right!
I know I'm late but I've made lots of wands from u but where do u get your dowels
usually craft store. but dollar tree has decdnt obes too. the ones at walmart that come in single sized pack are just too weak and thin.
Gorgeous
Thanks 😊
Dónde consigo ese pegamento negro?
Do you purchase the wooden dowels already made? If so, where? thank you.
Yes. 12 in wooden dowels can be found at any craft store. They are also at Walmart but the packs they come in there are either the mixed pack or one that's all the same size but too skinny for a sturdy wand. So I prefer hobby lobby dowels.
Magical Curiosities: Just like if you were working with molten lava
Me: *Confusion*
Magical Curiosities: I mean molten metal.
Me: OOOOOOOOOOOOOH.
By the way, I love your channel. I don't really do this type of craft but it is so fun and inspiring to watch you make these beautiful wands!
So prettythank you
I see off to the side on a plate where it looks like you glue decorated and black painted several dowels. Have you found it easier to do this first and then decorate your top?
Oh! I was so confused I had to rewatch. Those are just some plain wands I was coating with black base coat at the same time as doing my mermaid wands. I never paint before the formation of the wand is finished and dry/cool.
Do you have an Etsy?
I do! Its etsy.com/shopmagicalcuriosity
Beautiful love them all
Thanks so much 😊
You did it be for summer LOL
Haha! Barely. Ugh. Life....
Uhmmm.again!!
