I've been using reason for years, learned pretty much everything about the subtractor through trial, error and experience. First time I checked out a tutorial vid to get some confirmation about a few things I already knew about LFO 2 but was not too sure. As a guitarist I was pleasantly surprised to hear the bass arpeggio from Recuerdos De La Alhambra, as has already been commented on.
@TheHashtypeGuy Not sure if you found the answer already, but if you alt+click the rate knob in Subtractor, it will create an automation lane in the sequencer, which will allow you to draw in automation events for the LFO rate. This works with any parameter that is able to be automated in Reason.
to whoever has / had the same problem with me and came here for an answer i'll quote from "[2]DAY_- " a very helpful tip... Subtractor's LFO is freewheeling. It won't key sync, which i'm thinking is what you want (the LFO to begin oscillating at the start of its phase upon striking a MIDI key) you need to create an instance of Thor within the combinator, and route Thor's LFO to one of it's CV outputs, which in turn should be routed to Subtractor's Filter cutoff via the CV inputs on the back. Adjust the knob on the back of Subtractor, as well as Thor's mod matrix %'s, to taste. Also, unless you would like to incorporate Thor's oscillators into the mix, make sure Thor's audio outputs are NOT routed to any mixer.
Not sure exactly how you mean but sure you can record anything in Reason 6 on the audio tracks. Just use an audio interface or soundcard, like Balance, to plug the microkorg into Reason, set your level, and go for it. :)
@droer76 Thx . .is one of about 10 dubstep tunes I wrote using only synthesizers for all the sounds.. no samples.. some songs are all subtractor.. some all malstrom.. some are all thor. been toying with the idea of releasing it.... have not shopped it around to any labels though.
can anyone tell me how to make the LFO cycle longer with the subtractor synth? Its maximum cycle is for 8 bars as far as i can tell but i want it to be as long as 12(sawtooth on osc 1 and 2 for a long buildup sound). Can anyone help me? Ive been trying to figure this out for way too long, so frustrated!

What can I say? Once again, Mr Bernard, you have outdone yourself. We are truly grateful. BO!

Another excellent tutorial video from James Bernard. Thanks!
you made all the sounds in the indroduction using the malstrom - wow that sounded really good - that breathy effect, the synth, and those drums
that beat in the beginning was so tight.
LFOs and Mods are great!

James Bernard is the personification of Reason/Record manual!!!
Great stuff James like always
great job--these should be more prominantly featured on the prop website
It is really awkward hearing Recuerdos De la Alhambra's (Francisco Tarrega) arpeggios without the tremolo melody. Great tutorial, though!
@THEH4VOC I agree. Instead of having "Record/Reson help link" in the help menu we could have "Ask JB" :)

THIS IS SO AWESOME!
What is Lo BW for?
Thanks again for this tut! Can't wait till the malstrom, since i use this the most (H)
great tip number 46
@danxl5 someone mentioned it on the Propellerhead fb. Now I'm starting to wonder how many more easter eggs are in Reason...

@jdflorette Thnx (Y)
subtractor - small devil ;)
that pattern dont half sound like the dnb tune creeper
You missed a perfect chance to show everyone how to play with the rack screws on the Subtractor!
dubstep tutorial!
