    Another tip I learned is to not only cut the solid-colored wires longer than the striped wires; but also, cut them all at about a 45-degree angle, so they can go into the separator one wire at a time.

    ⚠ATTENTION⚠ on 3:49 The mesh shielding should touch the shield connector, pull the orange isolator back and then clamp the connector to the ground shield.
    I didn't know this when making this video.
    The first time I did this I had no clue how to start, the videos on TH-cam were very outdated so I hope this video is still helpfull.

    I would ensure a better connection between the shield / ground wire and the connector shield by folding the ground wire and possibly the shield foil back over the jacket and tightening the collar over.

    Even with this tutorial, Cat 7 cable is difficult to terminate. I install CCTV cameras with POE and trying to get these thick ass wires to settle down in the connector is annoying and really hard to do when you're standing up with the cables above your head. Why do they make it so difficult?

  • @FreddywertzMusic
    @FreddywertzMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Thanks for this good tutorial ! One question: What about the ground ? Shouldn't be the mesh shielding be twisted to the metal part or something like that ?

    • @GoodMods
      @GoodMods  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes, I forgot doing this in the video. the metal clip needs to be clamped on the mesh shielding.

    Hi. Just a clarification from a nubi...I want to use a standard off the shelf ethernet cable and would run it to a wall socket with a female- connector. WHEN needed I can run a shorter temp ethernet cable from the wall socket to the LAN port in the laptop. Now..if one end of the long cable..say CAT7...has the fine wires in the start-connector on one end, arranged as "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" and also the same arrangement, exactly, at the end- connector of the cable. My question is if this end-connector is plugged to the wall socket, than any further short ethernet cable connected to this wall socket, would be connected as "8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1" wrongly?? Or how would it work...is female connector in the faceplate on the wall REVERSE the order...i.e the "keystone" type would fix the arrangement of the cable??? Can anyone explain pls. Tks.

      cat7 cables will normally work in older ports.

      No, I did this because I wanted LAN connection in every room since the WiFi at our place doesn't work optimally and is not stable. They always come up with new regulations for new construction homes, so we wanted to be ahead of the curve.
