Biking City: Is there hope for Yerevan?

- Riding a bicycle early in the morning in Yerevan is easy, there are no cars or people. But, can you ride a bike at any other time of day? Is Yerevan a city for cyclists? Armenia’s prime minister is often encouraging the use of bicycles in a city that doesn’t have a single designated bike lane. Most cyclists are forced to ride on the sidewalk, which is neither pleasant nor safe.

Make boulavart in Sevan with a bikelane. Like they did in Batumi. It looks beautiful. I think Sevan also has potential too.
Not to mention the dogs that will chase and bite you ,i dont know if others can relate but in kentron this happens all the time to me
Modernise Yerevan
We have the worst drivers I have ever seen. Also the streets are in a very bad condition, there are holes that haven't been fixed for years! For example under Lambada bridge (Azatutyan street), or Gai Avenue just after Hayk's monument - I know at least five cases that riders got injured and broken bike rims because of these holes. I had touring trips through Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and yet these countries felt safer: had better drivers, better roads.
I used to drive from Charbakh to Kentron and back. I used the sidewalks, but some of them are so tiny and crowded that I had to go by foot.
I’m here from California with my road bike in tow. I relate to the loose diggie issue. However, I’m not aware of actual dog bite. They chance viegrously but if you hold your ground and yell, they eventually give up. That’s the advice I got from local riders and none reported actually getting caught and bitten. I must admit that I do carry a USPS issue spray in my jersey pocket made especially for shoonigs. To date, I have not had to use it but it does provide some piece of mind.
The voiceover in the vid makes two references to “Sports Monistry” when, I believe, it means “Sports Department” of Yerecan City Council.
They should have more bike lanes.
Dear journalists and readers, please raise awareness about the issues faced by motorcycle riders. A significant number of car drivers are intolerant towards motorcycle riders. My observations indicate that many car drivers believe the roads belong solely to them, putting them in a privileged position, which is not the case. Mechanisms need to be implemented to address these issues, but the most important aspect is driving culture. If car drivers are not taught to respect riders of other vehicles from the beginning, it will be difficult to resolve these problems.
