    That's where you started
If it didn't work out for you shouldn't discourage others.

The reason why I prefer pure-breed kienyeji is, that they are hardy they do not get sick easily. A tray of eggs is 600 KES and if you decide to hatch a chick may fetch up to 150 KES per chick. A full-grown mature cock is not less than 1,500 and a mother hen is 800 to 1,000 KES. You feed them only once and leave them to scavenge for food. The only problem with pure breed kienyeji, the cocks fight alot.

Its not a wrong business choice. You farm what you can afford. Not everyone can afford that. Some grow local for meat and they are also good

Let's not be biased. All projects fetch money if proper management is done. Come to Uganda and learn indigenous chicken business.

I disagree with you ... I have pure local birds about 150 ... They lay very well and I sell their eggs for good cash ... I am making good money outta it

You selected these points carefully to support your where you stand without mentioning not even an advantage of our local chickens.. I'm very disappointed in you because you are a farmer. Ask yourself, what's the ultimate purpose of our local chickens? The neocolonization has actually affected most of us in Africa that's the main reason why we always celebrate things from the other continents but won't appreciate ours. All the points you've stated are not the absolute truth. You don't actually know what you're saying!
WHY YOU MUST KEEP LOCAL CHICKENS (RIGHT BUSINESS CHOICE)

Thats your opinion. I started with commercial layers then broilers but have now settled for local chicken because of their many advantages including resistance to diseases. Its also a lie you tell that local chicken take as much feeds as your commercial layers
