For the curious: light always travels at light speed in a vacuum. However, when light travels through a material such as glass, water, etc..., it's speed is material dependent. Danny, I just want to say that I absolutely love when you play old-school Sierra games. Adventure games like this were all I had growing up and it makes me so happy when I see someone else get so excited and thrilled to be playing them. I love most everything you guys do on this channel but these playthroughs really have a special place in my heart.
Dan says that the graphical fidelity is not up to par but I honestly disagree, a lot of modern games try to mimic this kind of aesthetic and fail because they’re too lazy about it, but you can tell that they put effort into making it as beautiful as possible for the time. So in that way, it looks far better in comparison.
I wasn't really paying attention Roger's name until I realized all the references and noticed his personality. Roger Wilco is also a play on of the military saying "Roger, Wilco (will comply)". Simple thing but it's just a fun jab at his seemingly "yes man" attitude.
Suspiciousdishes Gaming definitely should, but I was to say beforehand that it’s not an average Skyrim play through, Ross exploits a lot of bugs and glitches to run through the game much quicker. Still just as entertaining and a good time though!
On one hand I'm incredibly happy Space Quest V is finally being played when Space Quest IV was one of the first Steam Train games and even way back then there were talks of doing V, but on the other hand I am still a little sad Ross wasn't here to be part of it.
This will probably get lost in the tons of other comments (which is fine). However, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate what you guys say at the end of the videos. I've been watching (well, more listening as I work or be creative rather than watching) Game Grumps since late last year. The other day as this video was coming to a close I just happened to hear Dan say 'love ya'. For the first time I actually stopped what I was doing and started to get a bit misty-eyed. I won't go into details (nothing bad or serious, mind you, just people growing apart), but in that moment I reqlized 2 things. 1 - That I honestly couldn't recall the last time anyone said 'I love you' to me, be it friend, family member, or significant other. And 2 - Just how much it meant to hear someone say that. Not some script or prerecorded sound piece, but just a direct little piece of 'see ya later' aimed at the audience. I can't speak for anyone else but myself, but I just wanted to say how much it meant to hear that said my way. Arin & Dan are a great duo to begin with and always amusing / funny / dorky / interesting to listen to. But to get to hear that has helped me feel a bit better. In a way, I guess I didn't realize how much someone saying that could mean. Especially to me. But anyway. Keep up the good work! All the best to the whole Game Grumps team!
This game sounds awesome with a Roland MT-32 or SC-55. I wish they would have emulated the SC-55 as the sound device for this play through. It’s mind blowing to me how much better they sounded.

Is it wrong that I really wanted Dan to do this solo? There's just something magically about solo Dan and Sierra games. *edit* Okay, Arin made it worth it for the voices and the "poop sucker." xD

Also Captain Quark from Ratchet and Clank!
Zap Brannigan wishes he was this competent... and that is a very low bar indeed.
All that sexy vaaalore
Dude seriously I feel like Futurama absolutely drew inspiration for that character from here.
Arin: school doesn't matter
Also Arin: it doesn't matter if it's a vacuum right? Light is light!
Also also Arin: "eye" is pronounced like "ewe."
McBehrer “E Y E that’s ewe”
Thank you. Arin is ignorant of his ignorance.
Ok ok but 99% of people, knowing how light travels isn't important.
Not sure what to tell you about the ewe thing. Brain fart.
@@jennyhughey7557
It's not that it is important so much as it's, like, REALLY common knowledge? Doesn't everyone know how lenses, prisms, and stuff work? Like it's elementary school science
Arin, the guy who didn't graduate high school became a TH-cam personality. Unlike Brian who has a PhD in physics and became a... TH-cam personality...
There is something so sweet about Dan playing these Sierra games. Sharing his childhood, and how much of a giant nerd he is, with us.
Arin: "hey look they're playing pong up there"
Dan: *20 seconds later* "hey look, pong!"
I love when Dan's really excited about things! He's too pure for this world.
Arin:"Is this a dirty game?"
Dan:" I don't know what that means."
Me:"Please, i watched you play Larry."
House party
F*** Mr. Hatcher
@@Pearg0ld Plenty others too... but LSL was also made by Sierra with similar mechanics.
I've been consistently watching and re-watching the 1-3 playthroughs they're so calm and a cool throwback to the earlier era of video games! So excited to see the part V playthrough is here! I was wondering if the series would continue! Hopefully this means Part VI will be along sometime in the future too! Interested to see what Arin thinks!
Aron being excited and genuinely paying attention because he knows how important this game is to Danny is so wonderful.
I... I don't think Arin has ever watched an episode of Star Trek...
22:15 that man is playing Galaga, thought we wouldn't notice. - Tony Stark probably
Light travels faster in a vacuum than it does in other mediums. It's a lot slower in water, for example.
This playthrough is super cozy! Snugglin up with a warm blanket while the world is imploding.
I LOVE Arin’s instant terror when given the helm alone :D hehe!
This series is very important and dear to me personally
It's a constant source of comfort for when I need to feel something positive thru all the negatives constantly trying to bring me down
The laughs, the genuine love and affection for this game, the incredible game itself being a joy to hold dear as Dan does, it has everything that keeps me going and believing that it will get better
As long as I have these simple pleasures, I'll still have myself, even when there's nothing left for me
Thanks for being yourselves grumps, and thank you for this wonderful playthrough of this lovely gem
@15:29 "ro-bob? I love it!"
Chrono Trigger's Robo: "ROB-OB!"
Okay, I was a little skeptical about having Arin along on such a chill adventure but Druul convinced me this was a great idea.
This is so great. Always love when Dan plays Space Quest games, and as a added bonus Arin is joining the adventure!
The way Arin's "OOH" synced up with Roger's thrust at 51:37
Holy shit 😂
Dan says that the graphical fidelity is not up to par but I honestly disagree, a lot of modern games try to mimic this kind of aesthetic and fail because they’re too lazy about it, but you can tell that they put effort into making it as beautiful as possible for the time. So in that way, it looks far better in comparison.
I wasn't really paying attention Roger's name until I realized all the references and noticed his personality. Roger Wilco is also a play on of the military saying "Roger, Wilco (will comply)". Simple thing but it's just a fun jab at his seemingly "yes man" attitude.
I'm sorry, I think someone accidentally edited Arin into this episode of Dan grumps?
31:18 "I'm the ambassador girl! I'm the one with ambassadorial status!"
"I'm the one who represents!"
Nobody:
Absolutely Nobody :
Dan in the bathroom : *HOOOAAAAAA*
I'd like to see Dan playing Oblivion, just saying.
That would be super cool. Have they done a Skyrim series already?
Suspiciousdishes Gaming yes, Ross played it with Dan
@@james_medlin oh awesome I'll have to go check that out. I love Ross episodes
Suspiciousdishes Gaming definitely should, but I was to say beforehand that it’s not an average Skyrim play through, Ross exploits a lot of bugs and glitches to run through the game much quicker. Still just as entertaining and a good time though!
@@james_medlin sounds great to me! I love how Ross' accent gets stronger the more frustrated he gets
The Dan Plays of all the old space quest and kings quest games is my absolute favorite content, I am hyped for more
The “ACK” every time he jumps across the cliff gap cracks me up XD
I didn't know what to think of Arin being here. Then i heard his voice for Droole, and everything was amazing.
I... LOVE THIS
omg Dan! thank you for introducing me to this! i love literally everything about this world & style & references *o*
Arin, a high school dropout: "School is meaningless."
Also Arin: "E-Y-E? that spells you!"
Dylan Watson he’s still a successful person, just is dumb 50-95% of the time
*that spells EWE, not you lmao
alexander :D that’s the whole joke, arin said that exact thing
and also "doesnt matter if light is going through a vacuum, it's light lol"
@@avabailey1664 No, they were correcting the quote. Arin said it spelled "Ewe" OP said it spelled "you"
On one hand I'm incredibly happy Space Quest V is finally being played when Space Quest IV was one of the first Steam Train games and even way back then there were talks of doing V, but on the other hand I am still a little sad Ross wasn't here to be part of it.
He's streaming Animal Crossing on Twitch these days.
"Is this a dirty game?"
Arin asks coyly; as if he isn't a professional pantsu hunter.
watching these videos has made me love sierra games. they’re so cheesy yet so fun
So much nostalgia. I was always a LucasArts lover, but this was one of the Sierra games that always resonated with me.
This game sounds awesome with a Roland MT-32 or SC-55. I wish they would have emulated the SC-55 as the sound device for this play through. It’s mind blowing to me how much better they sounded.
I ended up finally emulating it myself a few years ago. Sounds so much better, but I don't blame them for not knowing about it.
You get it norweeg
Last time I was this early, Danny coughed and said "Ech".
"yeah and I said Ech. What was that about? Hahaha"

“School is meaningless”
-Arin “high school dropout” Hanson
To be fair he is the ceo of a company, isn't he? Doesn't really seem like lacking a high school diploma is hurting him.
@@zenny7479
It sure is. He thinks anyone who is educated is "out to get him."
@@jerodparker8159 Can you give an example of that? I can't say I've gotten that attitude from him before.
Zenny you know...
Brother?
I laughed so hard at this game as a kid, what a classic. Thanks for playing it through. Flo so sassy
Dan: "One of my faves."
Me: "Wasn't this the one that killed the franchise?"
_goes to look it up_
Me: "Oh, no, that was 6. Carry on."
Yeah, Dan mentioned in the other Space Quests that this one is his favorite.
To be fair to SQ6 (even though I think that game is an inscrutable and unplayable heap of ass) they were actually working on a SQ7 at the time Sierra got gutted, so it didn't technically kill it off.
Is it wrong that I really wanted Dan to do this solo? There's just something magically about solo Dan and Sierra games.
*edit*
Okay, Arin made it worth it for the voices and the "poop sucker." xD
I agree tbh
Not remotely. It was like watching Bob Ross paint.
Not at all, but I'm glad they did. Arin's never played a Sierra with Dan before, and I'm glad I get to see it at least once.
Yeah, after watching the episode I completely agree.
Buttons buttons buttons
Seeing the title card: Oh cool, Arin's here this time!
5mins in: Oh god, Arin's here this time...
That kinda was my reaction too
Agreed in full. Arin doesn't have the stomach for Sierra games; and really Danny does better by himself with them. Arin just kind of brings the joy down and gets irritating.
I’m not expecting the boys to fall over themselves in glee with every game they play but it kinda feels like Arin could give two shits about this one.
Thank you, guys. It felt nice, as if I was there playing by your side the whole time.
Dan sounds so excited about showing Arin and everyone this game. It's so cute and I already love this series.
"well that can't be the right ship, Dan, it's a garbage scow!"
"Well that's what he's tasked with, arno."
"Finding a starship, dong?"
"No, armrest, he is the captain of the garbage scow"
If Arin doesn’t start reading some Brian blowing Dan fan fiction during this I’m gonna be upset
Whhat?
@@solanceDarkMOW don't ask, and definitely don't try to look it up on here! it's there..
@@solanceDarkMOW look up the spacequest IV steam train. Specifically the episode Tunnel of Love
The best part of the intro: the fighters were basically on his ship's back right. He turned hard left. He pointed the ship's rear at the incoming fighters. xD
Droole's 'button talk' reminds me of the evil Master Betty looking at his picture of tigers and/or birds.
love how arin says “school is meaningless” at 16:52 but then can’t remember how light works at 19:18 and claims he’s “trying to learn” lol
