I really miss these guys. I think if they would have took the time to find their sound (a la max q) they could have ran away with the gold in a couple years. Their 2008 quarterfinals were pure amazing too.
@LICyclist51 The "real" Acoustix barbershop quartet formed in the late 80's and competed at SBECSQSA in 1990 and won. The Acoustix are the only group I know of that won the competition the first time they entered. That would be the peak of any other barbershop's run. So, the Acoustix kind of came and went really fast as a result. They cut a record of all their selections that got them the win. The album is called "The New Sience Of Sound" and is available on iTunes. I highly recommend it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't vocal spectrum win the contest the first time also? I think they won the collegiate in 2004 first attempt. They didn't compete in 2005, then competed in the open contest and won that first attempt in 2006.
joshua ritchie nah V. spectrum and Crossroads both took two years to win. VS placed 6th the year before in ‘05 and Crossroads placed 2nd in ‘08. Only qtets to ever win on their first go around are The Four Teens in 1952, Dealer’s Choice in ‘73 and Acoustix in ‘90
I'm so confused... LOL! The guys from the Acoustix are so interchangeable. Everytime I watch a current quartet video, one of them is in it. The only constant to the Acoustix seems to be Jeff January. Is it just me? Or am I just crazy?
That swipe at the end of “The Way You Look Tonight” made my jaw drop. Rick’s fifth fits in there like a damn glove. WOW to all of this.
omg that tonight tag..that ranks up there in the top 2 renditions of that tag i've ever heard. simply...fantastic.
I can't stop listening to their rendition of 'The way you look tonight'. Breathtaking! Thank you
Is Joel basically a clone of Jeff Oxley? He looks, sounds, and moves in really similar ways...
He did replace him in acoustix
That “fore” in be-fore at 0:57 is the smoothest thing I’ve ever heard
4:21 That nah vowel was spot on!
What a nice D2 from the bass
Wasn’t that a d1 unless your not talking about the very end note
Absolutly beautiful!
amazing balance and blend!

That would be INCREDIBLY Ironic and funny. :-)
Lead is Tim Reynolds formerly from Riptide.
He has been singing tenor with category 4 who is formerly known as a mighty wind and has been doing this for about 5 years now.
steve boone that’s awesome didn’t realize that

Pretty late to this post, but Dealer's Choice also won on their first attempt in 1973, also representing the Southwestern District.

And I'm thinking crossroads did too.

minimalist traveler crossroads got silver in 2008 to OC Times and then in 2009 won the gold.
Listen for that undertone at 0:49!
Wahl95 I think it’s an Ab. These guys have a very unique ring and I love it!
@largefella Maybe Jeff Oxley could bring it full circle?
Too bad they didn’t stay together. They could have been a gold metal quartet at some point
@largefella Joel quit? What will happen for the 2010 competition?
Well, I assume they will fold it up, but maybe they find a new bass before prelim's. Joel T. is tough to replace though, so I doubt it.
They could have gotten Gary Parker who sang with Dealer's Choice.
Unfortunately the bass quit.
"Fa" is only a long long way to run if you're british.
Why put Rick on Bari?
Nice jackets. How long have these guys been a part of the Century 21 Team? :-P

Scott Freese, did you mean Jason January?
Joel T. Rutherford is the best Bass
Joel quit huh? I'm not surprised actually...
BarbershopHero, really, why are you not surprised?
