Mike the best singer ever. I met Mike when he jouned the Inspirations when he was 18 and lived in a apartment on iInspiration park. My family was the first one to camp in Inspirations park. I played basketball with him. He and the Inspirations have been a true blessing to millions serving the Lord thru song.
I remember watching The Inspirations when I was very young boy. I took note that every time I listen to The Inspirations sing you could feel the Holy Spirit that anointing that could only come from heaven above. This group of fine christain men had one goal in mind and that was to go out and sing for the Lord and see new souls as well as rededications to serve God from that day forward. Amen!
Can we not bring a non-existent god and his deluded myths to everywhere? Listening to idiots preach about how I'm going to go to hell if I don't believe in god is enough suffering for me thanks
The Inspirations are the very best!! I grew up with them. No one could beat them & those great ole Gospel hymns!! That bass singer is the very best I have ever heard he is so gifted!!! Those guys lived what they sang, still very Godly men & that's hard to find these days!! They are tops & may God continue to keep them in his care, precious Godly men!! 🤗🙏🙌❤❤❤❤❤📖
Well I can assure you I couldn't be more proud to have him a Daddy. All I have known my whole life is Mike Holcomb as a member of "The Inspirations." And how gospel music can change lives through the message of the gospel. But more importantly I have never had one doubt about what a great Christian Daddy he is. My mom, sister and I are the most blessed people for being able to call him family. And now, so are his 3 beautiful grandchildren. As he moves on into the next season of life, and continues to carry the gospel in preaching and in song, just pray that God's will is always done. I love him with all my heart and though he has traveled over 3 million miles in the last 42 years, and was gone a lot when we were younger, he did it for Jesus and to see lost souls saved. And I could think of no better reason than that, for being on that bus and living out of a suitcase. I can assure you him and for our proud family, "It's been worth every mile."

Nathan, I'm sure many people do not think about the sacrifice that gospel singers make as they travel to share the gospel, but perhaps even greater sacrifice comes from the family that has to share their loved ones with the rest of the world. Thanks to your whole family for being willing to share your dad with us and for understanding the sacrifice he made to share the gospel with millions of people. I can't help but believe that Heaven holds special treasures for family members that sacrifice for their loved ones to share the gospel.
Thank you for being the inspiration and role model that you have been. I remember talking to you in Leesburg FL about singing bass. That conversation prompted me to resume singing and playing guitar. May the Lord bless you and your family!

I have listened to the Inspirations fpr as long as I can remember. Before my voice changed I would try to sing the bass part as I listened to the Inspirations albums. I've seen them in concert several times as an adult and would sit on the front row or as close as possible so I could hear the greatest bass voice in the history of gospel music. Their testimony of faithfulness to proclaim the gospel in an age where many are worried more about entertaining people is refreshing. The music of this group has had a lifetime impact on my life. To the families that have had to sacrifice time with these men I say thank you.
Inspirations bring back so many childhood memories of listening and watching them sing in one of the only 3 tv stations we had as a kid,Mike was the best as still is the best bass singer ever!alotta talkbiver the years on George Younce but Mike Halcomb the best of all time by far!
I not only enjoy hearing Bro Mike Holcomb sing ,I love to watch the video sermons. I was raised up watching the Sunday morning favorite The Singing Jubilee, while getting ready for church. Always loved the inspiration . Thanks for sharing videos such as this.
I remember watching him in the 70's on the Tv.Show Jubalee ,him and the original inspirations,,sitting in my mammaw's living room on sundays..I grew up listening to them,and I still listen to their CD'S today. They have been such a Blessing in my life.
I just ordered the new cd from The Old Time Preachers Quartet, in which, Mike Holcomb sings bass with, as well as my favorite former Kingsmen lead singer, Bob Sellers.
I remember Mike from the early 70's at the all night singings in Jacksonville, FL. He was about my age. They would introduce him as "Ol' 6'4", 94. Haha. I loved it. I haven't seen him in person in a long, long time. I was hoping to see him at NQC this fall in Pigeon Forge. I love the Inspirations and Mike. I will be praying for him.
I really liked this. I have always been crazy about Mike and The Inspirations. I first fell in love with him at my first Inspirations concert in the early 70s when I saw them at the Cobb County (GA) Civic Center. Ever since then, my favorite singer is the bass singer. My mom and daddy liked them, we had seen them several times. I missed them a few months ago, when they were in Powder Springs, GA. I was so upset.

I am so sorry for your loss, and was very saddened by his passing. He was an excellent baritone harmony singer, and bass player. He was a tough, courageous, and kind man, and was/is, held in high regard by, probably, millions of people, including me.

Like most Basses Mike improved with age he started off good got better and ended great. by the 3 minute mark on this recording was and immense improvement i cannot say rather he hit true notes in the lower range, but i honestly don't care if he was best, he;s one of my favorites!
Brother Michael T. Holcomb and Brother Ken Turner are two of my favorite Bass Singers.. as in, they, at least in my humble opinion, are tied for First Place!

Thank you for this great post. Mike and George are my co-favorite Gospel bass singers of all time. George for his warmth of tone and blending ability, Mike for his sheer power, accuracy, rythm and tone. I learned to sing creditable, real bass harmony by listening to and singing along with Mike, for years, on many of The Inspiration's earlier records. I got to sing in a few groups/quartets, because of it and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. If Mike were to read this, thank you also, from the bottom of my heart.
wmden1 The change in Mikes voice over the years is outstanding. Like on the Fa-So song he fry's trying to get too low.. As he aged he learned the limits of his voice and in his later years really had no limits as to how low he could get. George Is my absolute favorite bass singer.

Thank you for doing this. When I was younger I never listen to The Inspirations Quartet, I listened to The Kingsmen. I remember Big Jim said Archie told them about Ernie Phillips. That's when I looked up who Archie sung with & then I was hooked on Mike's Great Bass.

Sabrina, can you put together a tribute to Bobby Clark the original tenor for the Cathedrals? He sadly passed away about three weeks ago. Mark Trammel recently told me in his opinion Bobby was technically the best Tenor of all times, High Praise. Also great job on Mike. I got to hear him in what was about his third appearance with the Inspirations when he was 17, yes 42 years ago in my old home town.

The groups My family had use to share Shows at a lot of Churches In The Carolinas & Tennessee , We were The faith gospel singers , The Crusaders , We were From Kings mountain N.C. & crusaders From Gaffney S.C. They ( Inspirations ) also done a singing at my home church in kings mountain , was in the 70s I Am Bill west My Dad & I Both sang bass & I also Played Lead guitar And , I done most of the Bass lead Mike does & people said that I sound like Mike, & I was Humbled , but my favorite Bass singers ever #1 Mike Holcomb , #2 George Y . J.D. Sumner , & one i have not heard in 40 yrs Named LONDON PARIS ( He sang solo The Eastern Gate ! Any way Thank you so much GOD BLESS REAL GOSPEL Forever I also spoke to George last summer asking about the old Lps & tapes Where could i get them & he said he did not know if they could be found anymore so many years have past !
