The only thing holding this game back is the swing mechanics. It just feels like your on auto pilot. No real momentum or a way to be creative and I think adding the wing suit was a cheap way not to fix the swing mechanics which this game desperately needs. It seems like the game is holding your had a little too much. I was kinda bored with miles morales game and story. This game kinda seems the same.
Insomniac confirmed on their twitter that this i just an early design and not the full game, both miles and peter will have diffetent swinging animations
In a more general sense, this hand holding is implemented in many of the newer games, just compare them to games that came around 2013 or 2015 and you'll notice the colossal difference in hand holding.

They should have an advanced swinging mode that uncaps speed and allows for more control, like not auto releasing webs and being able to run on the ground if you go low enough. That way, everyone gets what they want.
Agreed on the speed. Did you see how Miles lost all the momentum from the sling shot once he started swinging? Also, Peter chasing the chopper doesn't show any improvements to the swinging speed. Even though I'm excited for the game, I'm a bit disappointed in the swinging speed displayed thus far.

I’ve notice a majority of the comments are hating on the swinging but the mechanics are basically from the E3 2017 SC… meaning it’s an early build to incorporate the wing suit mechanics which was previously teased in the 2018 release which was noticeably amped after launch soooo… it’s gonna change with the finished product… (Patience is a virtue people)❤
1 month late but yeah when i watched the gameplay reveal trailer and i watched black suit spiderman do some animations that are the same in the first game i didn't comment on it or complain about it why would i? Like you said patience is a virtue.

I’ve heard ppl say they showed an early version of the game build , the swinging seemed scripted and locked in for a mission so I hope the final product is actually faster and more free , they kind of tried taking away focus from web swinging w gliding so they might be saving it
i feel u but think of swinging for spiderman like walking. we dont make each step different. spiderman just likes to have a lil fun when he swings, making him do little stunts like flips and such.

nah we def need more variation of moves while swinging and more control in general. doesn’t need to be anything crazy but we def need more control of swinging. everything in spiderman ps4 although smooth and satisfying to play is repetitive and very much on rails and automatic miles morales improved on the animations, tricks, fluidity of the web swinging system but spiderman 2 really needs to expand upon it
This is the third game and web swinging seems exactly the same from the past two games, it fun swinging for a couple hours then you realize there is no creativity when swinging or momentum.
