From left to right... knock sensor, then you have the pvc baffle plate (with a hose to the intake, rwd intake has a port for this as well), the last one is your EGR port (rwd intake also has a port for this) the tube on there now will not work... thanks for the NC miata content!!!!

slowly making my way through 2.5series..I dont own a miata at all, but i am seriously pondering buying a NC when ready. to use as a daily workcommute. anyway, i like the 2.5series, as I have a 1979 mazda 323 rwd, and swapping a L5 MZR engine into it, is one of my mazda dreams. thanks for sharing the vids. keep tehm up.

The piece you point to at the end is your crank case ventilation system, mountune and radium engineering make replacement kit for it or you could just keep the stock one. My understanding is it should be the same as what you have on your 2.0. hope this helps.

@@ColoredinLight From what I've read and researched, both the stock 2.5 and the 2.0 oil separator (Crankcase ventilation) will interfere with the NC intake manifold. Supposedly, one from a Ranger 2.3 fits and fixes the problem. The other thing to know is that the NC1 and NC2/3 intake manfolds differ slightly. NC1 is supposed to look smooth while the NC2/3 have reinforcing ribs on the outside which supposedly cause fitment issues regardless of what part you use, (Ranger, Radium, or Mountune). Check out Walter-Motorsports guide on the swap. They list out parts and part numbers.

Also the tube/bung you pointed at is the EGR tube for the 2.5, it goes directly into the 2.5's manifold while the 2.0 has a metal tube that runs underneath the manifold and bolts in. Currently doing a 2.5 swap on my NC and looked into plugging it but realized it would be a flag for emissions testing with the tube missing. Xero Limit sells a block off plate for the manifold side and goodwin sells a plug for the block side. Still debating deleting it or just plugging the tube with JB weld lol.

unfortunately I can't post a pic here, however, I put a 2.5 I'm my nc using the original 2.5 pan. naturally, I had to cut and rebrace the subframe a little. But now I am removing the counter balancers , then using a 2.3 pan that are $46 shipped from ebay. The subframe will still need a slight modification (ballpeen hammer) , but should fit without cutting and welding. The purpose is to sell the complete NC engine with oil pan to a spec miata racer for top dollar while replacing it with a $199 2.5 engine that makes more power and are super abundant

My 06 Winning Blue is at AR Hendricks LLC in Cypress TX as I type. . So I am not doing the labor and research as you are so my hat is off to you.
My 2.5L with 11.k just had 1.5 Stage XeroLimit Cam installed last night. Armond is dropping in a tune and drive it to the dyno at CP Motorsports in Houston. My chassis has 102.k miles on it stock so I will need upgrade the suspension of course when I get the car home. First Miata ever owned that I kept stock for 5 years. It'a AT BUT still a blast to drive.
Installed the GWR 1.8 header and mid pipe. Kept the stock intake and exhaust as I don't think they make any difference and at 61 years of age I am not into loud shit.
I will let you know my HP and TQ

If you dont run a baffle you run the risk of oil starvation because the oil can move at a steepier angle in the pan when cornering.

Do not delete the balancing shaft out of a stock 2.5 The balancing shaft helps keep the vibrations down down out of the motor and out of your car it will literally vibrate your car to death without the balancing shaft It's pretty much a fancier harmonic balancer
