Hold your throttle all the way to the floor when you go to start it. It won’t start the car and it will prime the motor with oil pressure. It’s a hidden gem that Ford did.
For the Focus people out there, if you hold down the throttle when starting your car, it won't start, it will just turn over and over again so you can prime your engine with oil after and oil change.

BSD is mainly for more oil which in turn means longer oil life. Also the baffled pan keep oil in place during sharp turns and WOT, preventing starvation from the oil pick up.
I've got a 500 hp focus st and I've never done a balance delete. To me it just doesn't seem worth it in any capacity. It's alot of work, and quite frankly a bit of money for something that could have made a bigger difference. Another 100 bucks can get you an intercooler which helps WAY more. I also don't see how it can help the motor in any way. Sure less rotating mass, but at the same time it could also be used / purposed as a form of monitor to help keep the crank balanced at least. 18 lbs in the long run really isn't going to make that huge of a difference, and id rather use the money / energy towards something that could make it either more reliable, or for a larger more impactful mod like a big turbo.

Would love to see a bearing and clutch inspection after 50k. This is a mod for people who don't understand how harmonics work. DO NOT DO THIS MOD ON A DAILY! Apparently these guys know more than the engineers designing an engine. You guys need to remove this video or add a warning. It's not common for a reason...
The crankshaft is balanced from factory. The harmonic dampener pulley balances any irregularities within the crankshaft. The balance shaft merely deadens the natural NVH created by a 4 cylinder engine; as it isn’t perfectly smooth running. Removing the balance shaft does not affect the harmonics within the engine, merely the NVH to the driver. Same as installing a lightweight flywheel. Removing rotating mass, that doesn’t affect the balance or wear on the main bearings.
This mod is actually common, it removes rotating mass, increases oil capacity by some 2 quarts, and if you don't want to do it, then don't do it. Easy.
